Worshippers quit church after council noise ban takes away their ability to praise God

They praised the Lord by singing their hearts out and chanting prayers at packed services.

But members of a congregation in north London have abandoned their church - because of a council noise ban.

The Immanuel International Christian Centre was ordered to keep its amplified music and sermons quieter after a neighbour complained.

But the church's pastor Dunni Odetoyinbo claimed Waltham Forest council had only told them to keep quiet so as not to offend the Muslim community.

The church also argued the council had 'taken away its ability to praise God', and that congregation numbers had dwindled from 100 to 30 because of the restrictions.

Baha Uddin, who lives near the church, had complained he was unable to use his garden at weekends and his one-year-old daughter was regularly disturbed by the noise from services.

So does the mosque broadcast the call to prayer 5 times a day from 6am to 10pm every day?

Sounds like they may be more interested in calling attention to themselves with loud singing rather than praising God. If they really want to praise God, then they would find another way to do it rather than just stop going to church.

I bet this will not be enforced for the muslim call to prayer - 5 times a day starting at 5AM on loudspeakers...

The Muslims get loud speakers 5 times a day... you can’t get loud even once a week pal.

Some piggies are more equal than you.

Now, wait a minute. If they had a full band going and amplified music and sermons, I can see the local resident’s point. You don’t need a public address or an audio system to praise God. We’ve got a sound system in my church, but the only idea there is to make sure the people in the back can hear the sermon and follow the piano. If this thing is so amplified that the next door neighbors are being greatly disturbed then I think they’ve got a legitimate complaint.

I bet that church had already been there when that noise sensitive camel humper decided to move in next door. I have absolutely no sympathy for that kind of attitude. You move into a neighborhood and find out you do not like it so much after all? Well, pack your things again and move away instead of expecting everybody else to adapt!

Liberals want to put this kind of social control in place here. Can you imagine?
