SEVIERVILLE Former President George W. Bush addressed a capacity crowd Wednesday night at the Wilderness Resort and Convention Center in Sevierville.
Bush wowed a crowd of more than 9,000 that attended a three-day conference of the Phil Waldrep Ministries based in Decatur, Ala.
Bush gave the enthusiastic crowd a patriotic message of joy, hope and faith in our families.
Each branch of the military was recognized during the 90-minute program.
Every day in the White House was a joyous day for me, the 43rd president said. I miss being commander and chief of our military the most. You know you live in an amazing country when we have servicemen that continually volunteer to serve their country in the face of danger. I believe we have an obligation to give our troops all the support they need to accomplish their missions.
The former president said he still has faith that conflicts in the Middle East can eventually be resolved.
There are individuals out there that kill to achieve their ideology, he said. In the United States, our ideology is our assurance to freedom. Thats what makes us great and unique.

Phil Waldrep, CEO of Alabama-based Phil Waldrep Ministries, welcomes former President George W. Bush to ministries' three-day conference at the Wilderness Resort and Convention Center in Sevierville.

I certainly miss GW being the commander in chief, too.
I know they must miss you DESPERATELY right now, Mr. President. :(
And to think just 10 months ago, we had a Commander in Chief who genuinely cared for our military.
For all of Bush’s faults (and there were some big ones) he always was steadfast in his support and love of our troops.
History will be kinder to him than our current media.
Well, the job of Commander In Chief still has not been filled, George.
So do I!!!
Especially with loved ones getting ready for deployment!
Our current CIC thinks voting present is decisiveness.
Miss him more than I can say. Haven’t had a good nights sleep since Obama was sworn in..
AMEN to that.
and the troops certainly miss having a commander as well
This actually brought tears to my eyes.
Bump

Can imagine what Obama will miss the most? Doubt being CIC will be on his short-list. I suspect it will be the constant attention paid to him, along with feelings of grandeur based on his title. All narcissism.
Do you know if these Ministries are especially focused on military families, or if the location of the Convention is near a base?
Ditto
The shiney rides?
The servants?
The photo ops?
God Bless You, Mr. President!
I know what you mean...
Don’t forget all the bennies. AF1, michelle’s 20+ servants, globe trotting while accomplishing nothing, all on the taxpayers dime.
Our military misses you, GWB.
I’m glad I’m retired. To salute that Obama-hole would require me to carry a barf bag in my left hand...and to tape my middle finger down in my right hand - lest it show the vacuum-head my true feelings.
History has been immensely fairer to Ronald Reagan than the media of the 1980's, too.
No he didn’t say I miss being Commander the most’’’’’’’’
He said

May God Bless former President Bush.
Love him, or hate him, his heart’s in the right place.
Unfortunately, we now have a “ Commandeer “ in Chief .
It is unconscionable that Barry neglected Afghanistan for almost a year * ,
( his primary Constitutional duty ) while instead focusing on appropriating and controlling large segments of the US economy.
And of course the endless fluff and frivolity -months of basketball games and date nights and pimping for Chicago and posing for magazine covers and vacations and on and on and on and on .
He’s playing basketball again tonight...
*Fox News reported that the WH said a decision on sending reinforcements to the soldiers fighting a war ,
would come “ before Thanksgiving,” which is Nov 26.
Air Force One. He's in it every whip-stich.
He's not looking forward to being just another passenger.
I'd put him in the middle seat for life with daily
round the world trips via O'Hare.
George Bush was a man of many faults, but he loved our military and was firm and resolute relative to the war on terror, especially Iraq.
History will be much kinder.
God Bless W.
Military - yes
Tax cuts - yes
Liberal spending, immigration - F no
A mixed legacy, for me.
Well said, W. Well said.
Somebody's got to be out in front making positive statements about the soldiers. If no one else does it, George Bush can be counted on to shore up morale for those putting their lives on the line.

LOL.
Bumpitty-bump.
God Bless President Bush
Ditto.

“May God bless and protect them while this office now appears to be vacant.”
Amen!!
We miss him too! Especially after hearing how the troops feel hopeless at this time. :(
We do too.
Pray for America and Our Troops
George? SOS!!
My ex lives up in Seveirville - PRETTY COUNTRY!
I wonder how much W is pulling in for appearances? It would be fantastic to have him appear at a Teaparty Express stop.
I MISS HIM AS COMMANDER IN CHIEF.
” Bush tells ministries audience he misses being commander ... the most “
Voted for him twice; disagreed with him on “comprehensive immigration
reform” and thought he went Missing-In-Action in his last year or two
(and who wouldn’t be tempted to keep their head down after six years
of concerted attack by the unified forces of 95% of the world’s media?)
All that said,
I miss you too, President George W. Bush.
Especially after seeing an ego being awarded The Nobel Peace Prize.
For which the nominations were closed TWO, yes TWO, weeks after he
was sworn in as (guffaw) The Commander-In-Chief.
good choice of including Johnny Carson along with Dubya.
Carson may have been no saint, but he must have understood (maybe
even unconsciously) something about “character”.
At least I presume that seeing how Leno, not “the heir apparent”
David Letterman took his place on “The Tonight Show”.
I may be making an ignorant assumption, but I suspect the big-shots
at NBC probably did ask him “who should follow in your steps”.
Not that Leno is perfect. But “G-d Help Me”, I do have to see
Leno’s “Headlines” each Monday night!!!
Thanks much for the “Autumn Celebrators” ping.
