Another reason why I so do not want Sarah Palin to be a standard-bearer for the GOP. Too much baggage. Sorry, folks.

How is this pos baggage for her? You’re stretching events to fit your opinion.

Yeah, I agree. Reagan shouldn’t have been a standard bearer either in retrospect. Look at the embarrassment his children brought us. Unforgiveable baggage. [sarc]

No matter who it is, the left will find baggage, even if none exists.

Too much baggage.

You're kidding, right?

What's her baggage, her 17-year-old daughter got pregnant? What else?

Against whom else's baggage?

Obama's friendships with terrorists and racists?

Biden's plagiarism?

Edwards' love child?

Kerry's Viet Nam record?

Clinton's womanizing?

Gingrich's multiple marriages?

Shall I go on?

Catmom, you do realize that “baggage” can be contrived by the media for any candidate, don’t you?

The obverse is true as well, any “baggage” a candidate might have is conveniently suppressed. Witness the current occupant of the Oval Office.

You shouldn’t take that approach.

Too much baggage. Sorry, folks.

Yes, we must absolutely make sure that our candidates, along with everyone they know, are without sin. That should be easy enough.

Huh?
Who had more garbage than 0bama?
Ayers and Jeremiah Wright were just the tip of the iceberg. and is is sitting in the White House right now isn't he?
Not to mention, that was garbage that 0bama created himself, rather than some relative by marriage of his, creating it.
An idiot son in law, making a fool of himself, does NOT equal Sarah Palin making a fool of herself. You gotta come up something much stronger than that one.

Maybe we should visit “ baggage” for our former candidates? Anyone remember Patti Davis. Reagan’s daughter? She was fond of posing herself. Cover of Playboy.

Or was that acceptable because it was after his two terms expired? Because i assure you that woman caused a number of headaches while he was President as did her brother. You can’t name one candidate that didn’t have their share of family issues. Even GWB had a divorce of his brother’s cause problems, as well as his sister in law (Jeb’s wife) and let’s not forget his own two daughters. They may not have gotten pregnant but they had a few “scandals”.

OK I’ll bite, What Baggage?

This kid is only “baggage” for himself. Palin’s daughter, like lots of young girls, fits into the adage “Ladies love an outlaw, just like kids love a puppy”.

Too much baggage.

Sarah has no more baggage than your average politician--probably a lot less in fact. It's just that the media have made it their life purpose to find and exploit everything that could possibly be embarrassing for her. In this case, having a daughter who had a baby with a jerk is not evidence of a moral failing. At least it's not Bristol who's posing for Playboy.

Exactly. She chose to parade this scumbag across the stage at the Republican Convention with her family. Her vetting skills are right up there with President Obama’s.

A pretty young girl falls for a handsome guy, they eventually have unprotected sex, she gets pregnant, but her mother and father accept him into the fold anyway hoping for the best. She finds out after the baby is born that he might not be the best husband material. This is not uncommon, except for the fact that oftentimes the daughter has an abortion and the parents may or may not even know about it (or the guy!). Is that a better scenario? Sarah Palin is a class act. The way she treats her children is with love and respect. And caring about and forgiving your children has nothing to do with baggage.

To 8 - Fortunately, a majority, a very solid majority, of American voters don't, nor won't, agree with you.
How anyone can link Mrs Palin to this immature idiot's behavior is beyond comprehension.

Everyone has baggage. Whether it's the gay daughter, the divorce, the drunken daughters, or whatever, there's always baggage. At least with Palin, the baggage is other people and not her own decisions. I'll take that if she can earn the nomination based on her own campaign in 2012.

Anybody who looks like he/she will be an effective conservative will be savaged by the press. If they can't find anything, they will make stuff up. You are dreaming if you think that there is a conservative out there that the MSM cannot dig up stuff on.

As a thought experiment, think about what could be said about YOU if somebody was willing to spend $millions to dig up people willing to talk negatively about you.

Do not be so short sided.

- Sarah did not do anything to tie herself to this idiot; her daughter did.
- Sarah has no control over what this idiot’s poor life choices are.
- No one should accountable for the poor behavior of those around them that can behave however they desire, particularly if they are well beyond their their childhood years.

To think otherwise would be cause to vilify everyone that has ever come close, either by friendship or familial ties, to a criminal. This is an unreasonable standard; one that conservatives ought to cast aside.

Regards.

I'd reply to this comment, but it's so asinine I'm having a hard time stopping laughing long enough to type.
Plus, I assume enough time has passed where you now realize just how ridiculous you sound.
And if you haven't come to that realization, nothing I say will make you embrace reality, so...
