NOW (finally) blasts Letterman over sexual affairs with staff
CNN ^ | October 7, 2009

The National Organization for Women has sharply criticized comedian David Letterman, accusing him of promoting a hostile, uncomfortable work environment.

"The latest Letterman controversy sheds new light on the widespread objectification of women in the workplace," NOW said in a statement Tuesday. "Most women can attest to the fact that many workplaces are plagued with inappropriate behavior by men in power."

The "Late Show With David Letterman" host admitted last week on his CBS program that he had sex with unnamed employees and had testified about those liaisons before a New York grand jury as part of an alleged extortion attempt.

A CBS producer, Robert "Joe" Halderman, is accused of threatening to go public with embarrassing information about Letterman's private life unless the 62-year-old funnyman ponied up $2 million.

NOW said Letterman's behavior was inappropriate in the workplace, saying all employees should be respected for their talent and skills.

"Recent developments in the David Letterman extortion controversy have raised serious issues about the abuse of power leading to an inappropriate, if not hostile, workplace environment for women and employees," NOW said in Tuesday's statement.

"The National Organization for Women calls on CBS to recognize that Letterman's behavior creates a toxic environment and to take action immediately to rectify this situation."

The Feminazi's statement does not exactly constitute a "blast" IMHO.

I do not remember NOW weighing in when he joked about some baseball player raping Sarah Palin’s daughter. Did I miss that?

I figured Letterboy was pro-abortion. Isn’t that all that matters to the nags?

I'm guessing that NOW was taking a lot of heat for not making a statement, and finally decided their hypocrisy was too obvious.

These clowns have finally figured out people aren’t buying it.

It’s only lies.

Apparently the NAGS have started to wake up from their slumber. It doesn’t impress me, and I am not about to cheer them, but they’ve reached a point where to ignore certain things makes them look really, really bad, and I am SURE they look at their numbers and see how their influence is waning. So they are picking and choosing targets, and deciding how far they want to go, and how to measure their judgements and their public statements. THey’re just catching up to themselves, and it’s where they should have been 30 and 40 years ago.
It’s an interesting, but glacially paced development.
And it’s not the first time recently they;ve surprised.
ANd YES< they did make a statement about the Letterman ‘joke’ about Palin’s daughter.

I believe NAG did give a watered-down half-assed reprimand to Letterman over his Willow Palin comments. However, it was well into the news cycle when they pretty much had to say something, and like this, they did not call for Letterman’s head on a pike, which is the typical NAG demand if the target had been conservative or Republican.

NOW is an entity along with other feminist organizations that has caused more damage to male/female inter relationships since the 70s than anything David Letterman did. NOW belongs to women that consider even consensual sex within marriage as rape/abuse.

Dear NOW:

Congratulations on coming out on the right side of this one. It proves what Hannah Montana's real life dad once quipped, "Even a blind pig snorts up a truffle once and awhile."

Sadly, you have abso-fricken-lutely no political capital at all on any issues facing women. You gave them up when you sucked up to serial-rapist, adulterer Bill Clinton with wide cow eyes like a little skipping schoolgirl and rolled over for him just because he kept abortion legal, and was "dreamy". Why would we listen to you on any kind of sexual harassment issue, when you can't ID rape based on several women, a torn lip, repeated groping and abusing a young intern? JEEES!

No, they said “toxic”, which, for them, is pretty harsh. They also called for “immediate action”, whatever *that* might be. I think they did as well as could be expected, given that they are a hypocritical organization.

Remember when you could compliment a woman with words alone that she "Looked pretty today", and both people went away happy? In the era when smiling at an attracrtive woman wouldn't get you treated like a serial rapist? When there was very little "gender-identity confusion" because there were rules about how you acted? Chivelry? When you didn't have to ask yourself "do I open the car door for my date?" because doing so was the RIGHT thing to do? Sigh.

I have to side with Leonard Nimoy's poetry..."I can't decide if I was born eighty years too late, or two hundred years too early. Guess I am just an old fashioned spaceman."

I found a bigger Star Trek nerd than I am!

This is an old 1944 film on women in the workplace. It's been chopped up to the funniest moments. The original is available at http://www.archive.org http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxzRthDEg4c See the contrast between then and now. It is funny and sad at the same time. Shame on you, America.

Have they taken Bill Clinton, serial rapist and habitual "Kiss It" sexual harasser, to task yet?!!
