Left, Media Gearing Up to Thwart Limbaugh's NFL Bid
Newsbusters ^ | October 7, 2009 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 10/07/2009 6:29:21 AM PDT by Rufus2007

We've already seen CNN's Paul Begala, affectionately referred to as "The Forehead" by Rush Limbaugh, and one ESPN personality, Fred Roggin, taking shots at Limbaugh on the heels of news of his interest in the National Football League's St. Louis Rams.

But it was just a matter of time before the usual culprits on the left would attempt to make an issue of it, in what seems to be an effort to gin up some reason for the talk show host not to have an ownership stake in an NFL team. And, MSNBC's Ed Schultz isn't waiting for pointers from the left-wing blogosphere to set the "Stop Rush's Bid for the Rams" agenda. He took it to Limbaugh on his Oct. 6 program immediately.

"There's also some comical football news out there," Schultz said. "The drugster's talking about buying the St. Louis Rams. That's right, the leader of the Republican Party is bidding for ownership of a team that's been giving more money to Democrats than any other team has over the last 10 years, at least that's what the survey says. He'll have to do something about that I'm sure."

How the heck does Schultz - or anyone else - know this?

If they don’t want Rush to buy the team, why don’t these whiny liberal media types get together and buy it themselves? I heard a report on radio that the teams’ estimated value was only 929 million dollars. With Olberman’s, et.al. salaries, they could easily afford it.

The mighty El Rushbo announces he's interested in buying the Rams...pipsqueak Ed Schultz says, "Eek, eek!"

Schultz (who is he?) is a non-entity compared to Rush. Rush probably makes more in a week than Schultz makes in a year.

I knew the Libs would be outraged...they are so jealous and envious of anyone who is successful in the private sector.

This is going to be fun to watch.../popcorn

"Yes I’m sure they will. Schultz for one is motivated simply by envy."

I've long believed enviousness to be one of the three human traits which are the foundation of leftist political movements (the other two being narcissism and rapaciousness).

Methinks one of the prime things that bugs the mindless left is that Limbaugh (a high school grad) could totally, completely, and mercilessly wipe out the Harvard trained Obamaloon in any debate in which the loon’s teleprompter was turned off.

Face it libs, your loon is stupid, stupid, stupid. He’s so stupid, he’s in Pelosi territory.

Ed Shultz gets listeners by default.

In the conservative talk show arena there’s Rush, Sean, Beck, Boortz, Levin, Wilcow, Ingram, Liddy and on and on.

In lib radio there’s...Shultz. His ratings are 1/10th of any of the above. (except maybe Wilcow)

Won’t happen. His investment partner is Dave Checketts, owner of the St. Louis Blues. Stan Kroenke of Walmart fame is a current minority partner and there are provisions in the stadium lease that the Rams must stay in St. Louis (till at least 2015?) as long as the Ed Jones Dome is continually upgraded.

Most lefties have no ability to control themselves - they just cannot compartmentalize.
Everything with them is politics.

That is why we are constantly barraged with inane political ramblings from lefty singers, actors, “personalities”, co-workers and strangers on airplanes.

They feel any disagreement with their childish political philosophies gives them the right to infest every aspect of your life and either convert you or destroy you.

Now this.

Ooooo, the green glow of jealousy just surrounds Ed Schultz.

Now, if these folks attempt to put the kibosh on the purchase of the StL Lambs by Limbaugh, can't they open themselves up to 'tortious interference' in a contract?

Calling FReeper lawyers. I remember when Texaco or another big oil company got spanked badly for trying to stop a merger between two other oil companies. What's the diff here?

Oh no doubt. And if Limbaugh is successful and buys part of the Rams then the left will try and use that against him, launching boycotts and what have you in an attempt to get the NFL to fold. But the Rams ownership is free to sell the team and if the group Limbaugh is with is the highest bidder then they should get the team. And I imagine that Limbaugh’s group is the best chance St. Louis has of retaining the team. Those owners have local ties, other groups may not.

Somebody should. i find it absolutely absurd that Los Angeles does not have a professional football team; although, there are of course plenty of teams nearby. At least as absurd as the fact that we didn’t have a hockey team here in Minnesota for a good stretch.

Limbaugh moving his team to the Left Coast? Where the liberal media elite live? Won't the left have fun with that.

Limbaugh has local ties. His group is probably the best chance St. Louis has of keeping the team.

Hmmm, so you have to have a monetary motivation? How about the aim to hurt Limbaugh financially or that it will hurt the sellers of the Lambs?

Okay, this just occurred to me. Would a lefty campaign against the Limbaugh purchase cause the price Limbaugh would have to pay to increase or decrease? Would the campaign hurt the value of the Lambs to the potential purchaser? Or would it force Limbaugh to raise his offer? What about Limbaugh's partner?

I think if Limbaugh bought the Lambs, he'd bring new fans to the Lambs from across the nation.

Ed Shultz is a former leftist radio host who now has a show on MSNBC that no one watches. He's a nasty bit of goods, but I don't think his motive is jealousy.

The louder he attacks Limbaugh, the more publicity he hopes to get.
