Arkansas Army National Guard recruiting offices across the area and throughout the state will close today as a precautionary measure for National Day of Resistance against Military Recruiters.
Although the Times Record did not learn of any planned local protests in correspondence with the resistance effort, which is promoted on a Facebook page as lasting from midnight to noon today, Guard recruiting offices will be closed to ensure the safety of recruiters and guard members at the offices. Other Stories Of Interest
They are shutting our recruiting offices just as a precaution, but there are no anticipated threats in Arkansas, Capt. Chris Heathscott, spokesman for the Guard, said.
The National Day of Resistance, as stated on its Facebook page, will attempt to act as a deterrent to military recruitment for the war in Afghanistan.
Rumblings of possible protests associated with the National Day of Resistance prompted Army National Guard to close down recruiting offices.
We had the shooting in Little Rock, so just to be safe, we went ahead and shut them down, Heathscott said. Were going to do what we can to ensure the safety of our troops.
William Long, a U.S. Army recruiter, was shot to death on the morning of June 1 at the U.S. Army Navy Career Center inside the Ashley Square Shopping Center in Little Rock. Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 23, of Little Rock has been charged with the shooting.
Officials with the Army, Navy and Marines recruiting offices at Central Mall said they all will remain open despite the National Day of Resistance.
Isn't that racist?
Arm the recruiters and fight back.

National Day of Resistance against Military Recruiters grows!
Obama OKs White House Staff Excused Absence With Pay
"Citizens have a duty to be involved."
What a GUTLESS bunch of losers to close a NATIONAL GUARD recuriting center! Meet the prosters in the street with riot gear. Where are the local authorities? The Governor must be hiding under his desk. What the H—L has the Great Nation come too?
Or the National Year of Resistance... shoot, fellow Rats, why not the National Eternity of Resistance?
I say we should Barney Fife this one. (”Nip it in the bud.”)
Have guardsmen standing with arms at the doorway.
I guess they fear more muslim attacks. Is this still America? Just a rhetorical question, I know the answer.
>> CHICKENS!
That was exactly my first thought.
The more I think about it, though, shuttering the offices is the professional level-headed response. Sidestep the threat, and open as usual the day after. Basically ignore them. Being ignored is exactly what the “resistance” crapstains DON’T want.
Hothead that I am, I’d prefer the “lock and load” approach; I wouldn’t mind seeing the assholes shed some blood, on an emotional level. But it’s probably not the BEST response.
Professionalism and cool heads under pressure defines our military. God bless ‘em. So SAD that a minority of losers in this country pull crap like this “resistance” day. It’s disgusting and infuriating.
Is the University nearby?
When this morphs into the Monthly Day, Weekly Day, Week, Month, etc. of Resistance they’ll have to rethink strategy

I don’t think the resistance pukes really have all that much support.
I could be wrong, but I pray I’m right.
The National Guard is over-strength, in the middle of deployments they plan to kick out the excess.
So I doubt if the recruiters is under much pressure to recruit right now.
Well, UALR campus is Little Rock, and you’re always in close proximity in LR because it’s so small. The main campus is in Fayetville— a fur piece from central Ar. But the LR branch has the larger enrollment.
Please See Post #16, I can’t add anything more to answer your question.
Whether or not the recruites are “under pressure right now” has nothing to do with basic problem of National Guard caving to a much of low lifes.
The National Guard is being commanded by low lifes in the form of Obama and Gates. Gates is seriously considering a proposal that would cut in half the Guard and Reserves weekend drill pay and that would seriously kill recruiting and retention.
As for overstrength, the active Army was willing to carry the Guard overstrength on their books and it would require a simple approval by Congress and the administration. Don’t believe the BS from Gates about expanding the military, they was unwilling to keep something like 9000 experienced excess guardsmen in uniform during war.
Might as well close all the recruiting stations, the American people elected idiots during the last election that don’t deserve the fine military they command.
Thanks for the clarification of your earlier post. Now it makes sense.
