Incitement Rhetoric Gets Even More Dangerous (NewsMax's Military Coup Article)
The Washington Monthly ^ | September 30, 2009 | Steve Benen

Posted on 10/06/2009 4:13:01 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Just eight months into a Democratic administration, Newsmax is running a piece speculating about a military overthrow of the elected leadership of the United States government. Seriously.

Newsmax columnist John L. Perry encourages his right-wing readers not to "dismiss" the notion of an American military coup as "unrealistic."

America isn't the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn't mean it wont [sic]. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it....

Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.

Military intervention is what Obama's exponentially accelerating agenda for "fundamental change" toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama's radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible.

In April, a common Republican talking point was the notion that Democrats were creating some kind of "banana republic." In retrospect, the irony is rich.

There is an unmistakable trend in right-wing rhetoric in the direction of extremism and violence. It's not at all healthy, and it's a sign of conservative contingents gone stark raving mad.

Perry is not a conservative if I have heard the reaction properly.

So, in a hypothetical of a tyrant usurping the Constitution and creating a self perpetuating dictatorship it is the ones who defend the Constitution as being painted as the evil bad guys !?

Why is Steve Benen writing articles about a Military Coup?

What is he trying to start?

“So, in a hypothetical of a tyrant usurping the Constitution and creating a self perpetuating dictatorship it is the ones who defend the Constitution as being painted as the evil bad guys !?”

The Bamster and the other commies in State Dept tried to paint the Honduran removal of a wannabe Chavez from office as mandated by their constitution as “evil bad guys”.

Why should they not try it here?

The answer is the Internet and talk radio.

Seriously, I have never witnessed our Nation at such an important fork in the road. There is lots going on right now that I would have never dreamed of in our country. Citizens in the millions demanding redress from a congress that has chosen to dismiss them. Gun and Ammo sales beyond comprehension. People hoarding food not for Y2k, terrorism, or disaster reasons, but for reasons no one will yet openly speak about. A military overthrow of elected leadership...there may be a real reason the leadership is suspect. If we elected a set of spies or traitors, there would be a need for a military overthrow; and that need would not be openly evident. Suspicion is there and that would be all the average astute citizen would have.

Sept. 11, 2001 put our country on edge, but not anything like our own "elected officials" have accomplished. We are indeed living in interesting times.

Q - If the Communists have seized the government, who will ride to the rescue?

A - Those who have sworn to protect and defend the Constitution, that's who.

Obama’s radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible.

Everything in politics is reversible with the right congress.

Well, the SC could always conclude that Zer0 is illegitimate in the eyes of the Constitution and then the military sends him to the Brazilian Embassy.

That would be appropriate.

The commenter's seem to be stuck on sedition and civil war...if a war happens it will be more along the lines of a Revolutionary War where the federal government assumes the traditional role of King George IV and Parliament, out to squash the traitorous rebels because they will not swear allegiance to the new King Zero.

"As is sometimes the case, the comments beat the article by a mile. "

This is one of those:

"My fellow citizens, the next civil war may be right around the corner. Or it may be that we continue to screw around and let this crap go on and on for another generation.

But the next civil war is inevitable.

The last time, they assassinated a president, got away with it, and we appeased and pandered to the Disloyal South with a whitewash Truth and Reconciliation, and a hearty reconstruction. Instead of razing their cities to the ground, taking their women and children into slavery, and putting all the men (lets call them "enemy combatants") to the sword.

And because of this leniency, the stars and bars still proudly fly over their capitols. They still talk openly of revolution, and genocide, and they still hold midnight meetings with their pointy-white hats.

Might I suggest, that THIS time - (though we've already allowed them to murder the Kennedys, and MLK, and probably also senator Wellstone) - THIS time. . . can we PLEASE do the job right?

When (not if) they start another SHOOTING civil war - they should suffer real consequences. As a culture, they should be held responsible. As responsible as NAZI Germany was held after WW II. (might I suggest y'all take a look at photos of downtown Berlin after the Soviets got through with them). The noose should change from a symbol of black lynchings, into a symbol of justice for these thugs.

Lincoln's murderers were NEVER brought to justice. And their heirs and descendants are still plotting. Banjos and bayonets."

It isn’t going to be a military overthrow.

It’s going to be an all out civil war, and the vast majority of the military is going to side with those of us who seek to restore the Republic.

As it stands right now, 0bama will be a one term pResident. IF and that is a huge IF he somehow gets re-elected, and it’s shown to be through nefarious means such as ACORN, and other groups stuffing ballot boxes then that IMO will be the trigger that sets it all off because millions upon millions of people will take to the streets in protest. 0bama trying to keep his power, will try and dispatch troops or law enforcement to “subdue” the protesters, and it will be free for all from that point on.

Mark your calender for the first week of December 2012 at the latest for this to happen.
