NEW YORK (Reuters) - Comedian David Letterman said on Monday his wife has been "horribly hurt" by revelations of his sexual affairs exposed in an extortion plot against him and he apologized to staff of his popular late-night talk show.
The host of "Late Show with David Letterman" said in the taping of his Monday show that he will try to patch things up with Regina, whom he married in March after dating for more than 20 years. The two have a 5-year-old son, Harry.
"She has been horribly hurt by my behavior, and when something happens like that, if you hurt a person and it's your responsibility, you try to fix it," Letterman told audiences, according to a statement from his company, Worldwide Pants.

Hah, the wife is going to get a lot more than $2million for his treachery and debauchery.
We always knew you were a creep, Dave.

I watched the pervs “confession” on youtube and I have to tell you, I am totally amazed at this idiot’s success. People are very very very stupid to think he’s interesting or funny or entertaining or even bearable. We live in a very very very stupid country.

How could she be hurt? She lived with him, didn’t she know the class of cheapshot he is.

If I were the missus, I’d just tell Dave that a divorce with a very, very large check attached would make it all better.

Had this not come to light he’d still be fouling young girls and or young boys.

The entire sordid example of the slimeball Lettterman illustrates that CBS is nothing but an amoral enterprise where nothing but the bottom line matters. Sexual affairs on company property will get someone fired at most companies, not to mention that Letterman’s behavior could have, or might have created all sorts of situations that could result in sexual harassment law suits.
CBS seems to be getting off far too easily in this matter. The execs who are tolerating Letterman should be named and raked over the coals.

You are so right on this. If he was really serious about this he would refrain from bringing any humor to it. I’m betting that soon his attorney will advise him that his inane commentary will become a detriment to his case.

To: Dallas59
He should invite her on the show to crack some jokes about the whole sordid affair. They could get some laughs, chuckles and applause as well as boost ratings. And if the audience doesn't respond on cue, he could always pull out a few Sarah Palin jokes to fix everything.
The sad thing is, what I just wrote in jest is probably at the top of his writer's list of possible 'damage control'.

If his apology to Sarah Palin is any indication, Dave is going to ridicule his wife on the next "Top Ten List".

For Dave, the fun has not yet begun:
"Shargel [Attorney for alleged extortionist] said he looked forward to questioning Letterman on the witness stand."
Dave probably has no idea of what is lying in wait for him when that sparkling moment made-for-TV manifests itself.

I think he has put his network in an untenable position.
They stay behind him and they too will be brought suit against for allowing sexual harassment and looking the other way. By how many?
Dave will soon be forced to quit and ride off in to the sunset. In disgrace to those still moral and a hero still to those perverts who think he is above it all cause he is a “star”.

He's a known shark who happens to be the defense attorney for the Gottis and the Gambino crime family.

I saw some comment that no one had sued him for sexual harrassment and my thought was “not yet”. I’m sure those are coming.
I’m also absolutely certain there is more here than currently is known.

At least they werent real prostitutes.
Not that I advocate it, but a prostitute would have been far better. With a prostitute, there is no relationship there except for the $$, so (unless the woman is coerced by a pimp) its a victimless crime. In Dave’s case, he was preying on his underlings—so it was a double-edged betrayal.
If CBS had any scruples, they would fire his sorry a$$. I would be shocked if there were no lawsuits resulting from this fiasco.

We went to a Letterman taping years ago.The show ended and a
producer asked the audience to stay to film a spot. There was a crowd around his desk. He yelled out a stream of invective that would embarrass a soldier in combat. We and the rest of the auidence were stunned and everyone left
the building in silence until we reached the street. The
people comments were that they could not believe what they
just heard!
