Black Leaders Ignore Black-on-Black Crime
The American Thinker ^ | October 06, 2009 | E.W. Jackson Sr.

Posted on 10/06/2009 3:25:19 AM PDT by Scanian

On Thursday, September 24th, after an apparently productive day at Fengler High School in Chicago, Derrion Albert, a black 16 year old honor student was knocked to the ground by a blow to the head with a railroad tie. He was then punched, kicked and stomped. Those who responded to rescue him were too late.

Derrion had walked into the middle of a fight between two rival black gangs. He attempted to help one of the victims in the melee and was killed for his trouble. This took place in Barack Obama's Chicago. All his work for "social justice" did a great deal for Obama, but it did nothing for Derrion Albert. Of course the President is not responsible for this tragedy, but it does expose the fatuous claim that such occurrences are the result of social injustice rather than the personal choice to engage in lawless behavior. The ghettos, drugs, gangs and violence are on display for all to see in spite of Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Acorn and all the community organizing.

Derrion's murder does not fit the black liberation narrative. As one civil rights leader said to me, "If we focus on black on black crime, we let white folks off the hook."

And there you have it, nicely summarized.

Because there is no money in screaming about black-on-black crime. It also takes away from the illusion that all crime is white-on-black.

Add the media being terrified by being accused of being racist.

You know, I hate to see this kid get killed, but I have to ask one question. WAS THIS KID NOT SMART ENOUGH TO STAY THE HELL OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF A GANG FIGHT IN PROGRESS? I saw the tape, there was NO WAY anybody in their right mind would have just walked into that melee. This Derrion should have at least been smart enough to turn around and RUN the other way.

Great article. Makes my blood boil every time I think of Jesse Jackson and Sharpton, Maxine Waters, etc., showing up like clockwork to rail against whites when some poor black soul is murdered. They have a sales pitch that’s made them fat and rich, why change? If blacks die it’s whitey’s fault no matter what the truth is. Some blacks think this is funny and secretly applaud Jackson. Liberals of every ilk buy it because it fits their mantra, but every once in a while something dreadful happens right in front of God and all the people like this young man’s vicious murder and a great silence descends.

No doubt they all showed up at his funeral. Pomp and ceremony, wired flowers and a young life lost forever. They line their pockets and leave town until the next opportunity for self aggrandizement.

So long as the majority of black children are born out of wedlock to a single parent and not knowing who their father even is may have something to do with black kids troubles.
Then there is that don’t do well in school you uncle tom deal.

Why are there black ghetto’s in this country?

Blame it on whitey.

When these people moved into the neighborhood Whites moved out. It started long ago when real estate agents started busting blocks, and it still goes on today as HUD moves in with section 8.

First there is one nice black couple trying to find a better place for their kids, then follows the exodus, as more and more black couples come in, and they are looking to find a decent place for their kids, but it turns out their kids ARE the problem, and soon enough of the problems arrive to where everyone has either got to go or live in this mess. Enter the ghetto.

Most places where these criminals live were once fine decent communities.

Right on the money. The young man who was killed could easily have been killed for acting “too white”.

From the top rungs of black society to the bottom, they glorify the thugs who walk around with a bandana on their head, the hat askew on top of that, the baggy pants and so on. Role models like Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas are unknown to many of them.

Even this POS President has his hip-hop and rap trash (such as Ludacris) he purports to enjoy. What an ass.

I have lived across the street from a black family who moved in five or six years ago after the elderly couple moved out. The mother seems very nice, but there is no father, and she has difficulty controlling the family of boys. There are at least five of them, spanning from about twenty years old down to probably four.

The oldest one is trouble. At seventeen he was arrested for breaking into the next house over, an elderly couple. The woman walked into her bathroom and he was in there. He bolted and she called the police, he disappeared (probably to jail) and only recently we have seen him hanging around again.

The next two seem like nice kids, but as they made the transition into adolescence, their appearance changed. They walk around wearing the baggy pants with the hood over their head so you can’t see their face.

The sad thing is watching these kids make the progression in to adolescence. They go from normal appearing kids riding bikes to emulation of a hip-hop or rap culture that isn’t good for anyone to emulate.

I feel bad for them, because as I watched them grow and make the transition, I had the feeling they were screwed from the start. I’ve talked with their mom, and she seems very nice and works hard, but...to raise the kids without a father is more than she can handle.

And you have “role models” for them like Obama, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Ludacris...the list goes on. It is sad. Everything works against them to funnel them into the sphere of influence of Ludacris rather than Thomas Sowell.

Dude, get a clue. He was killed because he tried to help a wounded person in a warzone. If he’d been in Afghanistan he would have got a medal.

The liberal cities are filled with cowards and most are men.

They refuse to acknowledge the children they produce, refuse to support and raise their children, refuse to marry the women and, most telling, refuse to defend their children and neighborhoods from thugs.

All you people needlessly worried about king obuma’s so- called “army,” there’s nothing to concern yourself over. You can’t build an “army” from cowards.

"Of course the President is not responsible for this tragedy..."

I disagree. All of the black race-baiters and exploiters share a part in this travesty.

They continue to promote the belief that blacks are powerless to improve their lot and will remain victims as long as a single white man or woman lives.

Racists like the pResident preach hatred and victimology and make a very nice living, doing so.

I’d say that Obama mirrors some of what you are talking about.

Not(really) knowing his father has given Hussein more hangups than a walk-in closet and being raised by white grandparents caused him to be a misfit when he took the Chicago “community organizer” job. Trying to fit into the Southside millieu spurred him to latch onto Jeremiah Wright and his black liberation theology.

Obama “enjoying” Ludacris makes me think of Steve Urkel trying to “get down”—an absurd image.

Down inside, I doubt that Obama knows who he is or what he is due to a supremely screwed-up childhood and upbringing.

The kids you mention sound like they’re turning out similarly messed-up, lacking only the racial confusion that probably bedeviled Hussein.

I think he and Rahmbo have already figured that out, based on the anemic response to the Dhimmi call for pro-national healthcare hellraising at town halls.

A few SEIU punks turned out and some others were bussed in but on the whole the Obamanoid idea of disrupting the protest fizzled pretty bad.

aaaarrrgh!!
It wasn't a 'railroad tie'. It was a long 2x4

It was still wrong, senseless and animalistic. It also showed how crime in Chicago and the gangs are out of control and also how low the black community has sunk. But darn it, have any of these 'journalists' ever SEEN a real RR Tie? One person can't pick one up, let alone a HS kid and then start swinging it. So please, stop the RR Tie stuff.

Where I grew up in Chicago we played on the RR Tracks(1). I KNOW what a RR Tie is. (And a RR Tie 'Spike' but that's another matter.)

(1) The tracks were elevated and in winter we'd slide down them on our sleds. In summer we'd roll down them in barrels --- very cool. We'd also hop slow freights for a ride to the Park ;-)

These fat liberals sit in their over-stuffed chairs waiting for the next tidbit of mindless titillation. They will not slip on a pack, grab a rifle and die on a hill for King obuma. They can’t even defend their kids.

The criminals in Washington are hearing the voice of the people in the tea parties. Next will come choosing grassroots leaders and organizing. And the RINOs are not invited.

Playing on the RR Tracks, probably not. That's something us 'middle class' old timers who grew up in cities did :-)
(heck our two daughter never saw a RR Tie, or Tracks, up close, just from the Metra Platform. That's from suburban living.)

As to gardens, again, no. They all live in apartments in Manhattan or have 'their gardener Pedro' do the dirty work and heavy lifting if they do have a house.

Ten seconds later, as we looked back, everyone on the scene was fighting or running for cover. Had we been a little slower, we would have been caught in the middle of it.

[Most places where these criminals live were once fine decent communities.]

When my second daughter was going into Junior High (the same one my oldest went to (without problems)), the Junior High got a whole new Administration. The new Principal was well aware of the gangs and roughhousing that had become a moniker of this school in the past three years (it had gotten a really bad reputation). So, he (a former active duty Marine Staff Sergeant) went on the offensive.

He sent his Vice-Principals and Counselors to the elementary schools that fed his school and had them explain to the future students and us parents, in great detail, the issues that currently face the school to which our children would be promoted. Most parents had a look of horror on their faces, and so too did lots of the kids.

But, they ended the meeting with something that changed that school forever: “Our school only has in it, what you kids bring with you. Schools are a reflection of the students. If there are gangs, then you kids brought the gangs into this school. If there are drugs, then you kids brought the drugs into this school. If there is prosperity, then you kids brought prosperity with you!”

It gave the future students (and parents) a new look into that school and it was changed for the better! It also changed the faculties mindset. That school is one of the best in the entire city! In two years that school went from the most arrests, fights and rumors to the least of those three problems and added the highest advanced graduation rates in the district!

When you take black crime out of the figures for the United States, the crime stats are about the same as Canada's. Mark Styen, in a article some time last year.

Yep, look at Oak Cliff in Dallas. During the fifties and sixties, this is where the Mayor of Dallas lived! It was the newest, fastest growing part of the city! Beautiful area.

By the seventies and eighties, you didn’t slow down when you drove through Oak Cliff (it really was that bad)! But now, it is making a rebirth as a decent part of the city, still not fifties nice, but nice! It is a cycle of birth, degradation, collapse/slum, rebirth (repeat steps 2, 3 & 4)!

The biggest problem with rebirth is that the stench and foul taste of the past leaves a bitter reminder so the rebirth is never as good as the last rebirth! Ultimately, getting a new building in a rundown part of the city is considered a “rebirth” - see most inner cities for examples!
