Oct 2, 2009 A new fossil human ancestor has taken center stage. Those who love Lucy, the australopithecine made famous by Donald Johanson (and numerous TV specials), are in for a surprise. Lucy is a has been. Her replacement is not Desi Arnaz, but is designated Ardi, short for Ardipithecus ramidus the new leading lady in the family tree. Actually, she has been around for years since her discovery in Ethiopia in 1992. It has taken Tim White and crew 15 years to piece together the bones that were in extremely bad condition. But now, Ardi has made her debut and is stealing the limelight...

Bummer! Now how do I explain DemocRATS to the grandkids?
PS I have seen the following video series, and they are excellent (esp. for the kids)!
Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution is a delightful trio of films by Dr. Jobe Martin produced by Exploration Films. Perfect for the family and Christian school, these interesting and fun films showcase a zoo full of amazing animals big and small, familiar and unfamiliar. Its also the story of an evolutionist who was challenged by the evidence to consider creation. Dr. Martin, who was personal dentist to President Lyndon Johnson, followed the evidence and became a creationist and devout Bible-believing Christian. His own personal enthusiasm for the wonders of the animal world shows through each episode. The short-module arrangement makes the films convenient for teachers. Theyre fun to watch over and over
Who wouldnt be interested in learning more about elephants and giraffes and penguins and hummingbirds and lions? From the dog and the horse to birds and insects you probably never heard of, their stories are told by Dr. Martin and field host David Hames with great photography and amazing facts. Dr. Martin has uncovered some facts that are little known even by experts. The evidence speaks for itself: these animals could never have evolved by chance and natural selection; they were designed. The films go beyond mere intelligent design. They present the God of the Bible as Creator, and also share Martin's own testimony of the power of the gospel in his own life. Your life will be happier if Dr. Martins effervescent love and enthusiasm for creation rubs off on you. Browse the science catalog at Exploration Films for books, study guides and other resources available to accompany the films.

Can we give her a decent burial now?
Shouldn’t we find the rest of her first?
Only the incorrectly taught or deliberately misrepresenting would claim men evolved from apes. For those of you who wish to be educated, men and apes are descended from a common ancestor. To those of you who wish to continue perpetuating untruths, what else are you lying about?
Lucy Ping about your ( our) Lucy Ancestor
Knock yourself out.
Whew, thanks for the link!
I find it amazing that this new “find” - Ardi - who now replaces LUCY - was is being given the ga ga treatment it has received (saw one guy on tv news interview just overwhelmed with emotion at this new “discovery”)....when the guy who made this discovery reported the fossil was so fragile it dissolved into dust at the touch. Yet from that, we get this full blown picture of Ardi??
What faith does it take for “scientists” to “believe in” this new tale of our human “ancestry”....in the long line of evolutionary “tales”.....which eventually prove to be either fakes or wrong by new “discoveries”.
A LOT MORE FAITH then it takes to look at creation and to know that only Creator God could have done this, including making mankind IN HIS IMAGE just as His Word says!
That’s just silly semantics. It’s not a lie to refer to our “common ancestor” as an ape.
in another 200 years they may get around to bashing the notion of a common ancestor.
Not really. It’s like saying that the falseness of the claim that Brits descended from Italians is just semantics. Clearly they did not. Though they certainly share a common lineage.
YourReply’sWorthit too...Excellent!
I remeber a small story when we decoded the genetic code that some scientists were going to use that code that determine once and for all that we were descended from apes.
The last I heard it was actually showing a different genetic result. Could this be part of that?
Except that we don’t know (who?) that common ancestor was.
Apes will be relieved to hear this.
Wrong:
“A new report argues that chimpanzees are so closely related to humans that they should be included in our branch of the tree of life.”

” If a snake on a plane made it to Hawaii, for instance, many native birds would be severely threatened.”
Your source needs a lesson in basic biology. It takes at least two snakes, unless the one on the plane was carrying but he doesn’t say that.
I remember my Sunday School teacher telling us that men had one fewer ribs than womem because God took Adam's rib to make woman.
You’re welcome and thanks for your posts.
The followers of Darwin jumped to too many conclusions, right off the bat. They would do well to take another look at the data. Darwin himself followed his own theory down a dead-end path when he looked at what we now call genetics. After Mendel came along, a lot of what had been concluded was shown to be wrong. It wasn’t until after 1940 that Julian Huxley et al. were able to cobble together a more credible theory. My guess is now they are trying to do the same with fitting the code into the theory.
The phylogeneticists have been saying that chimps and humans are the closest relatives, whereas the morphologists have been saying that we are closer to orangs...now the Ardiologists :o) are saying that humans aren’t on the same branch with either one of them or with Ardi. In other words, human evolution becomes more and more of a subjective mess with each passing “discovery.” You might also want to check out #17 for a recent blast from the past.
Is that the best you could do? LOL!
The theories are equally scientific. My guess is that they will find that the DNAs of humans and Apes respectively are too divergent for any final conclusion to be made, one way or another.
AHA! Cloning...adult stem cells..
I thought it relevant to point out that your source believes that snakes reproduce by parthenogenesis.
Are you saying that divergent snake species cannot interbreed?
Sure we do, Adam was the common ancestor. Descendants of Cain became apes. Seth, humans.
“Except that we dont know (who?) that common ancestor was.”
I know who it was. . .
The common ancestor of man and the ape? IAC. I think this is all futile and useless so far as an scientific application is concerned.
No.
We we disowned?
Is it you contention that there are no snake species currently inhabiting the wilds of the Hawaiian islands?
No. That was your source’s contention.
The evos have changed their minds, and now say we were never owned by the apes in the first place! With this track record, these guys should be in charge of establishing the identities of new voters for ACORN!
It was always my understanding that evolutionary theory said there was a common ancestor, not a direct descent from apes. Am I mistaken?
Ok, why don’t you tell me what you think my source’s contention about Hawaiian snakes is.
I already did.
“The Hominidae (anglicized Hominids, also known as great apes[notes 1]) form a taxonomic family, including four extant genera: chimpanzees, gorillas, humans and orangutans.
A number of known extinct genera are grouped with humans in the Hominina subtribe, others with orangutans in the Ponginae subtribe. The most recent common ancestor of the Hominidae lived some 13 million years ago, when the ancestors of the orangutans speciated from the ancestors of the other three genera.[citation needed] “
from Wikipedia entry: Hominids.
If Hominids are just another word for “great apes”, then to say that humans evolved from a hominid but didn’t evolve from apes is being a bit disingenuous, don’t you think?
If a snake on a plane made it to Hawaii...”
It’s not the snake on a plane making it to Hawaii we need to worry about, it’s the snakes on a plane leaving Hawaii! Or am I the only one that saw that Samuel Jackon movie?
Ok, on what basis did you assume that my source “believes that snakes reproduce by parthenogenesis”?
I jumped to that conclusion. He may believe that snakes undergo asexual reproduction.
Thanks for the ping!
And she/he/they lacks more than ribs.
It's Monday night and GGG told me.
I have NEVER seen an evolutionist on FR advocate for that.
AND I have NEVER seen any of your mythical ID'ers post on FR either.
More and more spam from the “expert”.
Five threads in five days on the very same thing. If others did that, they’d be warned.
Just showing your utter lack of knowledge GGG. Please get a REAL education.
Face it, Gibbons, Orangs, gorillas, chimps and humans ALL had a common ancestor. Evolution is real whether you like it or not.
My uncle was evidence that we descended from apes. So I always have that thought in the back of my mind.
Stay tuned for much more :o) It must really bum you out that there are so many Creation and ID science organizations debunking Darwood’s evo-religious creation myth...LOL!
