Rove for Rubio (Karl Rove backing Marco Rubio in GOP primary)
MSNBC ^ | October 5, 2009 | Chuck Todd

Posted on 10/05/2009 1:18:13 PM PDT by St. Louis Conservative

Over the past few weeks, Florida GOP Gov. Charlie Crist has found himself being put on the defensive more and more in the primary thanks to the challenge by ex-state House Speaker Marco Rubio. While Crist has financially overwhelmed Rubio to date, there are many Republicans -- particularly those in Flordia that are close to former GOP Gov. Jeb Bush -- who have publicly become more comfortable airing their skepticism about Crist in public. One of those Republicans with close ties to the Bush family, Karl Rove, has signaled his preference with his wallet. Rove confirms to NBC News that he has contributed a $1000 to Rubio's campaign, the donation will be made public when Rubio files his next FEC report (due Oct. 15).

This comes on the heels of Jeb Bush's public signal that he plans to stay neutral in the Crist-Rubio primary; Many believe this is Jeb's way of quietly telling influential Florida Republicans that he'd prefer Rubio but doesn't want to alienate Crist since he's still the heavy favorite in the primary. For Rubio, he needs to show some viability and that begins with his next fundraising report. But the most important fundraising report might actually be by the end of the year when you'll truly be able to see how Rubio's been able to use the Jeb neutrality (support?) to his advantage. Remember, Jeb is to Florida Republicans what Reagan is to the party nationally, he's held in THAT high of regard.

Good for Karl. I'm sensing some nice momentum for Rubio in recent weeks. He still doesn't have cash that Crist has, but it seems that conservatives and conservative groups are throwing their weight behind Rubio in big numbers. I expect an endorsement from the Club for Growth at some point as well.

I sent Crist a nastygram after he appointed liberal Democrat Circuit Judge James Perry of Sanford to the Florida Supreme Court over better qualified pro-gun 5th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Alan Lawson. Somehow this put me on Crist’s “send me money” list. My comment, “In your dreams, RINO Crist.”

Good news about Rove - I still don't trust him considering his RINO background, open borders and making nice-nice with La Raza. Add in his snide comments re: Sarah and other conservatives, I just don't trust him.

I had a brief exchange with Freeper "Terpfen" who was a stauch Jeb supporter and denied he had any RINO-blood. Oy vey!

YOu don’t even know me, but Jeb is in fact a RINO not unlike his brother and his dad. WHo both mislead conservatives to vote for them before moving to the left of center.

The Pro-Illegal Alien Rove supporting the Pro-Illegal Alien Rubio should be no surprise.

Meanwhile....we get people on here who act like American Jews supporting Obama...claiming Rubio is some conservative

Stockpirate is 100% correct on this. Too many are wishing Rubio to be a conservative....and it is not going to happen.

Rove spent his time in the White House keeping out real conservative politicians....so it would not surprise me that Rove has determined that Rubio is just another pro-illegal RINO

Yes...it looks Florida conservatives will be skewered again

FL Republicans have been choosing the wrong primary candidates for years. Nothing will ever change in that regard. They just go for familiar names.

“You deserve a refund from your last anger management class.”

How can anyone deny that Rove is a RINO and the true Architect of the Republicans loss in Congress. Bush did us no favors with his profligate spending. Working with Teddy from day one was proof enough.

Colonel, I sent a nasty letter to Mel Martinez concerning his support for amnesty for illegals.
He too sent me several letters requesting contributions for the R.N.C., been real hard to support RINO’s ever since.
GOD bless you & your family for your service to our country sir.

“I never said a thing about Rove or President Bush.”

Birds of a feather flock together. George looked conservative for a while then he made dad proud. I doubt that the other brother would be any different, since we know his opinion on illegal’s. Give them liberty even if it cost us our death.
