The Democratic National Committee is sending an additional $1 million to aid Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds campaign, POLITICO has learned.
The money comes in addition to the $5 million the party committee has already committed to the Virginia race, one of two governors races in the country this fall.
Were thrilled with the additional commitment from Governor Kaine and the DNC, said Deeds senior adviser Mo Elleithee. The fact that they are digging so deep shows that theyre fully committed to Creigh and to this race, and were appreciative of their continued support.
In addition to the cash, the DNC is also sending staffers, technology support and turnout modeling assistance across the Potomac.
By Election Day next month, Democrats expect the national partys investment to rival that of the Republican National Committee, which has promised to pump $7 million into Virginia to help Bob McDonnell, the GOP nominee.
The infusion will help Democrats become more competitive with the Republicans on the airwaves, where, thanks in part to his own national party assistance, McDonnell is outpacing Deeds.
The DNCs move comes with Deeds trailing in the polls and some prominent national Democrats fretting about his campaign. But with Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine at the helm of the DNC, the party is emphatic about their commitment to keeping the governors mansion in Richmond.

If they lose both of these, the message to those Dems in conservative districts will be clear, and they will bolt from obama's agenda like a fushed-out cockroach.
NJ and VA will both go RED. Obama WILL be impeached. If not in 2010, then 2011.
Wasted money...not going to help.
This is the football equivalent of going to the hurry up offense.
I think the DNC sent him the money because his fundraising suck$. Ha, ha!
Good for the DNC! Tossing money down the crapper! Keep it up, keep it up!!!!
I don't get you. I think both will go red (although NJ is a little too close for comfort) but both went blue in 2001 and 2005 and Bush was fine.
The Dems are spending their wad.
>> Tossing money down the crapper!
Why do they think it will be effective? Because they believe that soundbite teevee ads are effective.
Someday... some wonderful day... all money beyond a certain minimum amount necessary to bring a campaign to life won’t matter — because the population will no longer make its decision based on teevee sound-byte advertising.
When that day comes, we will have turned an important corner towards reclaiming this country.
Granted, I am an optimist — but I think that day will come in the not too distant future.
Here comes more acorn money.
We need BOTH of these states to go R...
Any other result will be called a “Victory” by the Dems.
Here comes more ACORN money.
By a 45% to 32% margin, voters now trust McDonnell more than Deeds on the issue of transportation. Previous surveys had found voters evenly divided on the topic. One question that always surrounds the transportation debate is how to pay for the proposed improvements.
Fifty-three percent (53%) of Virginia voters have a favorable view of McDonnell while 46% say the same about Deeds. McDonnell is down a point over the past two weeks while Deeds is down four.
That's why the RNC is in a panic.
Should have said DNC is in a panic. My Bad. Sorry.
If there’s any freepers or if you know any seniors who can donate their time in these states, that could make a huge difference. You know there’s still ACORN phony registrations out there, probably paying illegals or using Dems to vote under those names. And the absentee balloting is a mess. If anyone can donate an hour or two a week to the Republican party, it could help.
The Dem controlled administration in Va is delaying sending ballots to overseas military. Kaine is behind this too. This is shameful.

I hope this works out as well as the Olympics fiasco.
If you have proof of this I would really like to see it.
This thread was posted last night:
Virginia argues that they don't need to send out military absentee ballots in time to vote
“”The fact that they are digging so deep shows that theyre fully committed to Creigh “”
Who do they think they’re snowing? The dem coffers are filled to capacity for just this purpose.
These nearest elections need to be the watermark for watching election fraud in any way, shape or form. There will be...and when there is it will be Minnesota obvious...and it needs to be brought to light immediately to put the finish on voter fraud.
Washington Post published its editor’s interview of Deeds today. (McDonnell’s interview was published a couple weeks ago.)
Although it’s obvious from the article that the editors want Deeds to win, it’s clear that they know Deeds has serious flaws and those come out in the article.
Jack (in Fairfax County VA which will likely go Dem again, despite my best efforts.)
I missed that last night, thank you VERY much for the link to it.
SHEESH.
Those democrats are too much. I hope this one bites them hard.
bump
I don’t believe that is saying they are delaying sending the ballots, it was a legal argument in a court case where they said they didn’t legally HAVE to send the ballots.
I was really wondering since both my nephews have already returned theirs.
Ping.
If Deeds is still down by at least 8 on Oct 15, the DNC will pull everything and send ACORN to New Jersey. They can’t afford to lose both races and they know it.
