No Master Plan at All
Commentarymagazine ^ | October 4, 2009 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 10/04/2009 4:40:06 AM PDT by libstripper

As the media and political observers pick over the remains of the failed Olympics-bid debacle, the debate has boiled down to this: Will it be a temporary embarrassment for the president or a long-term problem, an emblem of overreach and underachievement? There is more to this than simply predicting the toll it will take on Obama. Both the rebuff and the Obama team’s stunned reaction have stripped the veneer from the Obama mystique. Suddenly, the entire country realizes that that there is no “master plan” behind what Obama does. In fact, there may be no plan at all. Obama’s frosty demeanor, his upending of the Clinton machine in the Democratic primary, and his smooth presidential campaign helped create the myth that he was in control of all events and could see two or three moves ahead. If he procrastinated in dealing with the Reverend Wright flap, it was because he knew something we didn’t—or anticipated how events would play out. If he was mute during the financial crisis, it was because he intuitively understood that John McCain would knock himself out. There was a reason for everything.

Barack has two skills...

1. Delivering secular sermons

2. Delivering taxpayers’ money to his favorite groups and individuals.

I still say Obama is an empty suit.

He's completely clueless.

As if borrowing and spending vast sums of our future is some sort of brilliant economic plan to restore jobs... Just blindly saying the pump needed priming instead of looking at the underlying causes - excessive debt at all levels of American existence... No instead we're going to fix a debt problem with more debt... Just la-la land economics that somehow magically "hope" is going to fix... Hope is not a course of action.

Bingo! I hope some voters have learned it's better to regard a doubtful Presidential candidate with skepticism, than to give him every benefit of the doubt.

Of course he’s an empty suit...it’s why the MSM has been hiding his history...he’s the perfect affirmative action president...an invention of left-liberal minds...Columbia-Harvard free ride...former druggie, we don’t even know for sure where he was born. There’s a reason his long form birth certificate hasn’t appeared...if there even is one.

He’s a complete invention...there’s no “there”, there. We are in real trouble with this guy.

For a long time, successful politicians were those who had come up thru the ranks of business or politics itself - in both cases, they by necessity had experience with leading others, balancing finances, managing an organization, planning ahead, making tough decisions - all skills that were useful later on.

Obama had none of that experience, and seems almost to have avoided it (”present”) - and now is suffering for it.

What was that Rudy said at the Republican Convention last year about thin resumes?

There are many that are absolutely certain that Obama is brilliant, brilliantly evil. That all this economic destruction is a plan. I think they give him way too much credit. I think he's just a fool following what his mentors taught him with no actual understanding of how things work in the real world. He's never had to meet a payroll or create something of value. He only knows leftest theory as taught to him and if it is applied it will magically create a workers paradise and social justice.

It's for sure a white black man's world in America. Look here: I raised that boy since he was the size of a piss-ant. And I'll say right now, he never learned to read and write. No, sir. Had no brains at all. Was stuffed with rice pudding between th' ears. Shortchanged by the Lord, and dumb as a jackass. Look at him now! Yes, sir, all you've gotta be is white black in America, to get whatever you want. Gobbledy-gook!

All references to Chance the Gardener have been replaced with Obama. It still reads well. Imagine Obama’s voice speaking as you read.

President “Bobby”: Mr. Obama, do you agree with Ben, or do you think that we can stimulate growth through temporary incentives?
[Long pause]
Obama: As long as the roots are not severed, all is well. And all will be well in the garden.
President “Bobby”: In the garden.
Obama: Yes. In the garden, growth has it seasons. First comes spring and summer, but then we have fall and winter. And then we get spring and summer again.
President “Bobby”: Spring and summer.
Obama: Yes.
President “Bobby”: Then fall and winter.
Obama: Yes.
Benjamin Rand: I think what our insightful young friend is saying is that we welcome the inevitable seasons of nature, but we’re upset by the seasons of our economy.
Obama: Yes! There will be growth in the spring!
Benjamin Rand: Hmm!
Obama: Hmm!
President “Bobby”: Hm. Well, Mr. Obama, I must admit that is one of the most refreshing and optimistic statements I’ve heard in a very, very long time.
[Benjamin Rand applauds]
President “Bobby”: I admire your good, solid sense. That’s precisely what we lack on Capitol Hill.

Here's the earliest mention of him I could find in my email to my parents in January of 2007:
Hi Dad and Mom,

I've read some quotes from one of Barack Obama's books and it just feels false. It feels as though it's someone writing things with a specific audience in mind, as though he's trying to make himself seem a certain way and not quite pulling it off. Things just don't seem to ring true. Doesn't he realize that virtually every American black whose family goes back at least a hundred years is of mixed race? He was abandoned by his Kenyan father when he was two and his parents divorced. His atheist mother then got involved with another Muslim guy, this time from Indonesia and moved him off down there until she left him when Barack was about 9 or 10. Then he returned to Hawaii where he lived through high school and, I think, part of college. Keep in mind that Hawaii is a land of many races and mixed races. But he says stuff like this:
"In his first memoir, “Dreams from My Father,” Obama observed that when people discover his mixed-race heritage, they make assumptions about “the mixed blood, the divided soul, the ghostly image of the tragic mulatto trapped between two worlds.”

"Indeed, Obama acknowledges feeling tormented for much of his life by “the constant, crippling fear that I didn't belong somehow, that unless I dodged and hid and pretended to be something I wasn't, I would forever remain an outsider, with the rest of the world, black and white, always standing in judgment.”
Come ON. No one except deluded liberals talking about their idea of what they think are racist conservatives talks about "mixed blood" "divided soul" "tragic mulatto trapped between two worlds." He certainly didn't experience anything like this in Hawaii. It is just SO ludicrous.

And then this:
"“I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites,” he wrote."
I just don't believe there is any way that a 12 or 13 year old, especially in Hawaii is going to be thinking this way unless he's mentally disturbed.

Or this, in a newspaper article about him:
"During college, Obama disapproved of what he called other “half-breeds” who gravitated toward whites instead of blacks. And yet after college, he once fell in love with a white woman, only to push her away when he concluded he would have to assimilate into her world, not the other way around. He later married a black woman."
But HIS world WAS the white/Indonesian/Hawaiian world. What is he talking about?

And farther on in the article:
Thus, in his second memoir, “The Audacity of Hope,” which was published last year, Obama adopted a more conciliatory, even upbeat tone when discussing race. Noting his multiracial family, he wrote in the new book: “I’ve never had the option of restricting my loyalties on the basis of race, or measuring my worth on the basis of tribe.”
This appears to contradict certain passages in his first memoir, including a description of black student life at Occidental College in Los Angeles.
“There were enough of us on campus to constitute a tribe, and when it came to hanging out many of us chose to function like a tribe, staying close together, traveling in packs,” he wrote. “It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.”

Obama said he and other blacks were careful not to second-guess their own racial identity in front of whites.

“To admit our doubt and confusion to whites, to open up our psyches to general examination by those who had caused so much of the damage in the first place, seemed ludicrous, itself an expression of self-hatred,” he wrote.
Even his talk about "tribes" seems to be aping a liberal's idea of what racist white people would characterize as a "tribe". He talks about people who "caused so much of the damage in the first place". Well, those would have been Muslim slavers buying slaves from blacks in Africa and, more recently in his own past, his atheist mother and his own disappeared father.

And note this:
He added: “To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists.”
Avoid being mistaken for a sell-out? How much more of a sell-out could he be than to choose the kind of people he did. This guy is nothing but a male Hillary.

Love,

Aruanan

Looks like his role is to make speeches and get his mug on the tube and in the newspapers.

He makes speeches not decisions. It is becoming increasingly clear that he is simply the "mouthpiece" of others. He cannot make a decision, he can only "speak" and "look good". His ideas are not his, his "ideas" are simply the regurgitation of an old and failed ideology.

When he does seem to make "his own" decision (or has his wife talk him into it) the result is a disaster. Chicago is the perfect example. This was not out of the ideological playbook, this was spur-of-the-moment. It was a bad decision to get involved and turned out bad. And I bet his handlers are furious.

It’s a pity more Americans didn’t catch on to this poser much sooner. I never read his books and don’t intend to. Most who keep up with politics probably saw him first at the 2004 Dim convention where the almost total unknown was the keynote speaker. His speech was such liberal, PC blather that I only listened to part of it. Probably didn’t think we’d hear from him again. But the first time I heard his campaign stump speech everything about it just seemed like phony, Utopian nonsense and was very short on detail.

It’s hard to believe that so many fell for Obama, but maybe it is beginning to unravel in a big way.

Could it be that Obama is not, in fact, a sophisticated analyst and astute policy wonk but merely has led a charmed political life, benefiting from a series of inept opponents (think Alan Keyes, the snarling infighters in Hillaryland, and the McCain gang-that-couldn’t-shoot-straight), a sycophantic media, and an electorate willing to give him every benefit of the doubt?

Yes, he's like the cancer cell that has happened to get past every defense mechanism and has started its opportunistic growth. Like the cancer cell, he appears to be in control and growing toward some goal, but in actuality, like the cancer cell, he merely represents a failure of the body politic to protect itself and is rapidly metastasizing in an unregulated fashion toward his own demise together the body of his host.

I just thought he was Julian Bond, Part Two. I didn't fully realize how far the body politic had been damaged/undermined to give him the possibility of taking root.

For some reason the lyrics of Counterfeit King by Randy Stonehill came to mind:
COUNTERFEIT KING

counterfeit king in a garden that he stole /
he's the outlaw with the diamonds in his eyes

like an angel of light he'll seduce your wandering soul /
he's a master of the beautiful disguise

he has reaped what he's sown in his fatal act of pride /
and he tumbles down like lightning from the sky

and his only desire is to brand us just like him /
for in loving our own lives we're doomed to die /
we're doomed to die

now we're all out on a tightrope /
too proud to think we'll fall /
you can choose the free- dom of God's love /
or laugh and lose it all

.......

so beware of the words that he'll whisper to your heart /
for he'll burn you with his twisted tongue of fire
and the song that he sings it's like poison to the soul /
he's the counterfeit king and he's a liar /
he's just a liar /

a beautiful liar
he's a beautiful liar /
he's a beautiful liar /
beautiful liar

The IOU rebuff may turn out to be Obama’s man-behind-the-curtain moment, straight out of the Wizard of Oz. It may be that the whole Hope and Change routine has been little more than a lot of cheesy special effects—and a cynical game to convince the public that the great and powerful leader really is worthy of awe.

No kidding about the cheesy special effects! But what does the author think the styrofoam columns were in Denver? And everything else this so-called administration has done?
