Samoa is planning a mass burial for victims of the tsunami, the government said Friday. The funeral will take place next Tuesday, a week after the deadly waves swept ashore following a powerful 8.0-magnitude earthquake.
There were 123 confirmed dead in Samoa with another 16 people missing, government spokeswoman Vaosa Epa said Friday. There were 32 confirmed dead in neighbouring American Samoa and nine killed in nearby Tonga.
Samoan families who have already buried their dead in their own villages would have the choice of leaving them to rest in the family plot or transferring them to the mass grave at Tafaigata Cemetery.

Ping.
So sad. How do you ever get over losing your whole family in one day?
Father God, please help these beautiful people, and console them in their great sorrow.
Thank you. This event has effected a few at Free Republic. Lost family members and others missing.
Is 0bama going to vote “present” or be a no-show?
He'll probably send a video of himself, apologizing for the American peoples' stupidity, and for Bush refusing to sign the Kyoto Treaty, which directly led to the tsunami.
Mass burial is almost always what follows a disaster of this magnitude. If you wait for all the bodies to be ID’d and removed, decay and disease will set in plus a few whole families will have nobody left to bury them.
