Kerry's Banana Politics
IBD Editorials ^ | September 2, 2009 | INVESTORS BUSINESS DAILY Staff

Congress: Banana republic politics aren't just confined to Honduras these days. On Thursday, Sen. John Kerry tried to halt Sen. Jim DeMint's trip there in a tit-for-tat slap. And he thinks it's Hondurans who need dialogue?

Kerry's unprecedented bid to keep South Carolina's Republican senator out of Honduras shows how much spite there is in the party line of Democrats. The senior senator from Massachusetts leads the Foreign Relations Committee and seems to agree with the current nonsense that Honduras' legal ouster of its rogue president was a "coup" that deserves "punishment."

DeMint disagrees, as do many others. He sought to visit Honduras with three other senators to meet all sides in the dispute and bring their message back. He'd slated meetings with, among others, President Roberto Micheletti, the Honduran Supreme Court justices, civil society groups and U.S. Ambassador Hugo Llorens.

He needs to go, since the State Department yanked the visas of Honduran officials who wanted to come here. Now, thanks to the intervention of Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, DeMint's group will go anyway.

But by trying to stop DeMint, Democrats showed they didn't want the truth about Honduras to get out. That's not dialogue that could lead to an acceptable solution, it's the silencing of dissent.

I never cared for John Kerry. I think his sneakiness is what sets me off. Didn’t I hear recently that his witch, oh sorry I meant rich, wife gave over 8 million dollars to the Tides Foundation (Soros?), & doesn’t Tides cascade down into Acorn?

Someone please correct me if I have misunderstood what I heard. I believe it came across the FNC almost 5 months ago, when O’Reilly was chasing the deserted funeral home in New Orleans.

Either way, John Kerry needs to retire!

Kerry's an arrogant imbecile who has no sense of the real world since he never worked a day in his life. He's just one more empty suit in a government full of empty suits and skirts. The name of his boat fits him perfect, Scumbag-mooch.

“”Someone please correct me if I have misunderstood what I heard””

Nothing wrong with your hearing. During the 2004 Presidential campaign, there was a lot of reporting on her ties to that Foundation. I think from that reporting, it was a lot more than just making donations to it. I believe Tides is part of the Heinz Foundation. Now someone can correct me if I misunderstood.

Lets not spend a lot of time on John Kerry. He has limited intelligence, although he tries to pass himself off as an elite. Only a state like Mass could re-elect Kerry and Kennedy repeatedly. And, take a look at Mass, its a toxic waste dump of failed liberalism.

“”Now someone can correct me if I misunderstood.””

Checked with snopes and of course the rumors that floated around in 2004 are discredited there......snopes NEVER finds any negatives about dems TRUE!!!

Right. We sure wouldn't want Jim DeMint going down to Honduras and coming back and spreading the truth around. Why that just might be contagious.

Of course we knew all along that Kerry is an idiot that just happens to look like a French Horse but this is really a bit much. Fortunately, in this case, he fell on that famous face.

It appears that THK has contributed to Tides, but there's no evidence of any more of a relationship than that. I found this at the David Horowitz website...

From Washington Post, June 3, 2003:

JOHN KERRY: HUNTER, DREAMER, REALIST

By Laura Blumenfeld

(SNIP)

. . . A close associate hints: There's a secret compartment in Kerry's briefcase. He carries the black attaché everywhere. Asked about it on several occasions, Kerry brushed it aside. Finally, trapped in an interview, he exhaled and clicked open his case.

“Who told you?” he demanded as he reached inside. “My friends don't know about this.”

The hat was a little mildewy. The green camouflage was fading, the seams fraying.

“My good luck hat,” Kerry said, happy to see it. “Given to me by a CIA guy as we went in for a special mission in Cambodia.”

Kerry put on the hat, pulling the brim over his forehead. His blue button-down shirt and tie clashed with the camouflage. He pointed his finger and raised his thumb, creating an imaginary gun. He looked silly, yet suddenly his campaign message was clear: Citizen-soldier. Linking patriotism to public service. It wasn't complex after all; it was Kerry.

He smiled and aimed his finger: “Pow.”

It’s always been my understanding that she sat on the board of the Heinz Endowment, which has contributed (said to be more than 4 million) to the Tides Foundation, and to the Tides Center. I could be wrong, I’m no authority on the matter, but I did just run a few searches, and still couldn’t find anything which indicated she was part ot the Tides organizations. These leftist networks are such writhing balls of snakes, it’s hard sometimes to be able to pick one out in the mass.

It is such a shame that most of my friends are so unlikely to appreciate the significance of what is expressed in this terrific commentary.

0bama and the State Dept. have done everything they can to hide and distort the truth about Honduras. Their behavior borders on the criminal.

OK if that’s the case, can a Senator put a hold on the death care bill? If so, do it. If not, there has to be a rule that will force them to read the bill on the floor.

You are correct. And I was incorrect.

The Tides Board of Snakes

There is a creepy, crawly aspect to the entire BOD's list of credentials. Lots of "social justice", the Apollo Alliance, the Kirwan Institute for Race and Ethnicity in the Americas, former President of the Threshold Foundation, a founding member of the Social Venture Network, founder and Director of the Center for Social Inclusion (CSI). And, finally, as you'd expect: the Soros Connection -- an advisor to the Open Society Institute and a consultant to the Open Society Foundation.

America haters, each and every one.

And Teresa Heinz Kerry, plus loads of other wealthy people, give them millions. Ironically, the benefactors don't even realize that they themselves are the targets.

Thanks Okie. Far left millionaires are not as rare as some might think and they tend to be very meddlesome. We all know about George Soros, and there is a lesser known American millionaire (Allen Andersson) behind the recently ousted Zelaya government in Honduras. You correctly pointed out the leftists who control all the shadowy 'foundations,' and there are wealthy decendents of millionaires who are extremely left leaning who channel 'foundation' money to leftist causes (Ford and Carnegie come to mind). There was an interwar period millionaire named Willi Munzenburg who was very devoted to Lenin and Soviet communism, and the Gore family fortune (cattle breeding and Occidental Petroleum) was made through Armand Hammer, the millionaire son of ardent American communist Julius Hammer (the man's allegience to communism was behind his son's unusual name, and while it's never been proven it's said that Al Gore's middle initial (which he's very sensitive about) 'A' might possibly really be Armand too). I've long wished that somebody like Glen Beck would publically explore the relationship between Armand Hammer and the Gore Family.

There's a book by a man named Gary Allen titled None Dare Call It Conspiracy that postulates that there has been a long ongoing collaboration between European Bankers (Rothchilds and such) and American industrialists like JP Morgan to implement a socialist world government. I don't necessarily agree with all of the mans theories, but the way he points out how rich plutocrats often use socialism to stay that way does have some merit. Take care!

May I sugg4est The Proud Tower by Barbara Tuchman?

In it, she describes how a Russian expatriate -- Pyotr Kropotkin -- held sway in the salons on the upper West Side around the turn of the previous century.

Kropotkin served as "fund-raiser" for Lenin among the upper classes in New York and London. Without him -- and the millions he collected from the Astors, Rockefellers, Morgans et al -- there would have been no March revolution, much less an October Revolution.

Yet, for all the time that Kropotkin held their attention, the carriage class never realized that they were his (and Lenin's) target. They gave him money...which he sent to Lenin...who mounted a successful revolution against their interests.

In the end, Kropotkin became the origin of the term "crackpot". But it didn't stop the upper class from having funnelled millions of dollars to him, in the interest of pursuing their own demise.

Irony abounds...
