Did anti-American resentments play role in Chicago's bid losing? (BUSH'S FAULT)
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | October 2, 2009 | Abdon M Pallasch

Posted on 10/02/2009 2:00:55 PM PDT by WeatherGuy

Some Chicago officials say anti-American resentments likely played a role in Chicago’s Olympic bid dying in the first round today.

President Obama could not undo in one year the resentment against America that President Bush and others built up for decades before, they said.

“There must be” resentment against America, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said, near the stage where he had hoped to give a victory speech in Daley Plaza. “The way we [refused to sign] the Kyoto Treaty, we mislead the world into Iraq. The world had a very bad taste in its mouth about us. But there was such a turnaround after last November. The world now feels better about America and about Americans. That’s why I thought the president’s going was the deal-maker.”

Blame it on Axelrod!

Because his former PR firm did all the work and was paid millions for the project of presenting Chicago’s bid.

Follow the money trail!

This needs to be investigated.

Four of the five co-chairs of Obama’sinaugural committee continue to have unpaid leadership roles in Chicago 2016, including Pat Ryan, the chairman and CEO of Chicago 2016; John Rodgers, the treasurer and director of Chicago 2016; Bill Daley, the former Clinton administration commerce secretary and brother of the Chicago mayor; and Penny Pritzker, the Chicago businesswoman and Hyatt hotel heiress who led Obama’s meteoric presidential campaign fundraising.

Pritzker’s family also owns or manages a handful of hotels singled out by Chicago 2016 as accommodations for Olympic workers, press and family members.

Ryan and Priztker each contributed $100,000 or more to Chicago 2016, as did White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers, an Obama family friend, who also served on the Chicago committee. It still counts Obama confidant and vacation companion Eric Whitaker among its members. Jarrett was replaced as vice chair by Martin Nesbitt, the treasurer of Obama’s campaign and another Obama family insider.

ASK Public Strategies, the Chicago-based corporate public relations company founded by Obama political guru David Axelrod and owned and run by some of Obama’s top presidential campaign consultants, was paid “in the tens of thousands” of dollars by Chicago 2016 to do “communication management [and] communication planning,” said former Axelrod partner Eric Sedler, who did not work for the Obama campaign but is in Copenhagen, along with Pritzker and Jarrett.

“ASK has worked on the bid for three years and for two thirds of that time our work has been pro bono,” said Sedler, who would not speculate on whether the company would be in line for more Olympic work if the IOC picks Chicago.

Not really. Let’s all be honest and admit that Rio de Jenairo will put on a much less corrupt Olympics than Chicago could have. With the except of Detroit and New Orleans, Chicago is easily the third most corrupt city in the U.S.A.

No, it wasn’t the extortionistic tendencies of the Chicago thugocracy or the pervasive climate of violence or the fact that many Chicagoans didn’t want them there. It was Bush, the new Goldstein.

Maybe better. Definitely prettier women. Less corrupt?? I’m not ready to go for that one. Even the most corrupt American politicos are generally pikers when compared to those in Latin America.

Besides . . .

Won’t it be Winter during this Summer Olympics ?

Chicago was rejected because of its continuing lawlessness.

All one has to do is see photos of thugs rioting and beating one another in the streets to know that Chicago is not a place for international games or visitors.

Chicago is beginning to look like Haiti in the the public’s eye.

From a politics stand point - you feel that your own country is imperialistic and pushes others around to satisfy your own needs. So you apologize every where you go.

Then you load up Air Force 1 with a huge entourage in order to force te IOC's hand your way.

Are you F'n dumb?

Do we get a refund on Michelle’s travel costs?

The transparency of a President trying to insinuate his office into this matter is SO APPARENT.

Obama wanted to pay off the crooked Chicago machine politicians who helped him.

Rio has Chicago beat on the violence and murder rate.

So, begging for sympathy as Michelle was doing must’ve struck the crowd as particularly asinine.

But Kyoto and Bush will do as scapegoats, since they can’t call the IOC racist.

It couldn't have anything to do with Chicago being a corrupt cesspool. The officials from Chicago want to pass blame on to Bush instead of admitting their city is a crime ravaged dump.

These people act like anti-Americanism didn’t exist prior to Dubya, which is silly.

Also, Obama has his own special brand of arrogance: he thinks the world is obligated to love America because of his own personal charm and postmodern speechifying. I’ll bet Europe winds up finding Obama even more irritating than Bush.

Six Degrees to Blame Bush is a brand new trivia game based on the liberal concept that any Obama problem can be passed off to former president George W Bush within six easy steps.

The game requires a group of players to try to connect any Obama problem to Bush as quickly as possible and in as few links as possible.

Hey, Chicago, blame President Obama for chickening out at the United Nations General Assembly / Security Council sessions for not calling out Iran on their nuclear missile program. Why do you think France’s President Sarkozy is upset at Obama for not telling Iran’s president to his face what he thought of Iran’s program? Now, the United States has punted the ball back to Europe on this issue, leaving the Europeans to deal with the Iranian mess.

Today’s IOC vote was merely sweet European payback. Bill Clinton MIGHT have done a better job of securing Chicago’s victory.

Those damn white crackers did this.

It can’t have anything to do with Obama spending over 8 months telling the world what losers our country has always been, before he took the helm.

It can’t be because his lies are seen around the world.

It can’t be because Obama has made it clear that he will do everything he can to make the USA a failure.

It can’t be that the world now sees Obama as a coward and nothing more than an empty suit, that will say anything and take the credit for absolutely anything he sees as positive.

It can’t be that the world sees Obama as a crook and a complete FAILURE.

It can’t be that the world sees us reverting to a 3rd world country and heading to bankruptcy.

No, it simply must be something before the ONE began to rule the world.

It was way past time for the Olympics to be held in South America, and the Committee chose a notorious party city. Maybe people want to have some fun. Duh.

This sore-loser-ism looks so bad when a jolly, largely Afro-Hispanic city has won the honor for the first time.

Wow. Dems are even dummer than imagined.

“I thought we had really turned a corner with the election of President Obama. People are so much more welcoming of Americans now. But this isn’t the people of those countries. This is the leaders still living with an outdated impression of Americans.”

Outdated? So we have a member of the United States Congress saying that the world's poor opinion of Americans was justified at one point. This is disgraceful, and I hope the people of this company are hearing the disdain with which their own leaders regard them.
