Laugh if you must, but this is the one bit of spin youll hear today that has the virtue of actually being true.
And of course its also the one bit you wont hear from anyone in the White House.
This is pretty embarrassing for the White House. (Especially letting Obama having to fail in front of his wife ouch!) But ultimately, its a good thing for him. As I wrote on Monday, the Olympics are notorious for running massively over budget. The organizing committees are always rife with infighting and power games, as all manner of colorful cronies badger members to get their paws on some of those coveted Olympics dollars. Public support for the Olympics in Chicago itself was already lukewarm. Residents would have been facing seven years of disruptive construction and roadworks as their city raced to prepare itself. Its a recipe for serious disgruntlement.

Ping.
Unbelievable.
Except that all his cronies in Chi Town are stuck with all the slums and will turn against him.
Glad that they admitted this was “spin”.....
Every day that goes by, every word they write, every issue that shows its ugly America hating cover makes me glad I’ve canceled Newsweek.
Not at all. Did you expect them to say that Osama failed? THAT would be unbelievable.
Yeah! That’s the ticket.
They can’t spin this embarrassment. Yeah sure...now Zero can’t be blamed for all the deaths of Olympic goers due to the crime in Chitown.
Spin Spin Spin Spin Spin............
The 0 regime: Fiddling while Rome burns.
True if you buy the spin. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig. This was not good for Obama. It is a political disaster for him.
In politics, there are always, ALWAYS, two truths: the one they tell ya, and the one they don’t.
Read the comments on the gaggle where the original article sits. The author (Katie Connolly) is getting ripped pretty good and deservedly so.... What a twit.
This is the same as my 9 year olds “I didn’t want it anyway!” defense. I expected a little more out of Newsweek.
No. Not surprised. Just the first thing that came to mind.
Right.
Even though if Chicago had been the host.... It would have been a miserable failure.
But somehow Obama would have excaped the blame.
Now? He gets ALL the blame.
hee hee hee!!!
American hatters haven’t been swayed by the teleprompter one.
... and what would the media be saying if Chicago won? It’s way too transparent to be bought. The BS lying media is going into flame out mode.
Epic fail cannot be hidden. Which is why, all but the most naive children, don’t do what our naive man child president did.
Just as an example of media bias,
I was recently talking to a lib
that gets all her news from Newsweak.
She hadn’t even heard of “flag@whitehouse.gov“.
(and it really pi$$ed me off when she insinuated that I was lying about it)
There is no way the administration thought they did not have it in the bag. If they thought they could loose this they would have been managing expectations much better and warning us how hard it is to get the Olympics.
They were totally blindsided and this means we are in deep trouble regarding Iran.
Whine House Press Release Oct 2, 2009
Robert Gibbs - Weee Weee, ahhhhhhhh.... planned it this way! We thought about it, but decided at the last minute that we didn’t even want no stinkin’ olympics in Chicago!...Yeah, we wanted to apply the taxpayer savings toward CommieCare, I mean ObamaCare,..I mean HealthCare reform.
“This is pretty embarrassing for the White House. (Especially letting Obama having to fail in front of his wife ouch!) But ultimately, its a good thing for him”
It is especially embarrassing because it seemed everyone in the world knew it was going to Rio. Probably every olympic athlete in Illinois wants to go to Rio rather than Chicago.
Set aside his liberal fascist politics, it made no sense, as a gamble, for a man of his position to waste capital on this losing bet.
Reverse psychology is so 70’s.
If newsweak says it, it must be propaganda.
Couldn't the same be said for socialized medicine? The best thing that can happen to Obama is all his dumb ideas get shot down. I actually agree with that.
“The organizing committees are always rife with infighting and power games, as all manner of colorful cronies badger members to get their paws on some of those coveted Olympics dollars.”
“Pay to Play” on steroids would be the case were Chicago to get its paws on that money. This has to be the first time Mayor-for-life Daley didn’t control the outcome of a big undertaking.
It’ll be interesting in the coming days to see how this damages 0bama politically. I’m willing to bet he was pretty confident Chicago was a shoo-in. Ahhh, but no...
“We are in deep trouble.” Let’s just say, “Period.”
Barry just thought he would show up in Copenhagen and the Olympics would be handed to him. This is a major put down. Most disappointed are the Illinois grifters who expected Barry would deliver big government dollars into the hands of his cronies.
Isn’t the Secret Service getting road weary, dragging this dead weight around the globe?

Or this:

Any Questions?
I agree that it SHOULD be good for Obama to lose this one but it is very doubtful that Obama is willing to learn from this failure! What we have to watch and be careful that Obama becomes reckless in an attempt to prove he has not lost his touch!
And you know, if he had just kept his mouth shut and stayed in DC, all this hoo-rah would be on page 6C of the paper, below the fold.
His monumental ego is writing checks that his backside can't cash. Incredible stupidity and arrogance.
I'm not Bush's biggest fan, but at least the man knew when to keep his mouth shut.
A Glorious Victory for our Maximum Leader.
It was all about funneling money to Chicago....tons of it...”Union Jobs”....
Too bad. ACORN could have had all those tourists registered to vote.
Obama really went there so make sure Chicago DIDN’T get the Olympics. Everything went exactly as planned and Michelle got a new dress.

..yeah good for them...they look thrilled
Whatever. Aside from the loss of the huge profits for BO’s slum lord buddies he wanted to have a huge propaganda show for Obamaism much like that German guy in 1936.
Besides, those grapes were probably sour, anyway. Weren’t worth the getting.
It is not good for Obama. That makes it twice as good for Chicago and for us.
“...Michelle got a new dress.” I think you mean TENT!

Keep on shoveling Newsweek.
Quick! This is a perfect “sour grapes” moment! (Those grapes were probably sour anyway.) After so many occasions where the term is misappropriated, this is truly sour grapes from Newsweak.
Seriously, I have a theory that has dawned on me this morning. It goes like this: 1) the IOC had its mind made up that Chicago was the right choice; 2) baraq’s insiders on the committee relayed the message; 3) baraq’s strategerists agreed that they should put in an appearance to make it about their persuasion and gravitas, after all; 4) they decided to include harpo in on the deal; 5) the IOC saw what was happening (baraq was going to use the IOC to glorify himself); 6) baraq suddenly became in their eyes the ugly American personified, throwing his weight around; 7) the IOC decided to fix his wagon and poop on his party. Boy, did they ever succeed.
That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it.

Attention MSM: Keep that article handy. When ObamaCare and Cap and Trade fail all you have to do to meet your deadline is replace Olympics with whichever policy goes down that day. The theme of thankfully avoiding the cost overruns, corruption, etc will be exactly as relevent.

You caught it!
For those Obamatrons monitoring FreeRepublic, here is the story alluded to:
Æsop Fables
(Sixth century B.C.)
The Fox and the Grapes
ONE hot summers day a Fox was strolling through an orchard till he came to a bunch of Grapes just ripening on a vine which had been trained over a lofty branch. Just the things to quench my thirst, quoth he. Drawing back a few paces, he took a run and a jump, and just missed the bunch. Turning round again with a One, Two, Three, he jumped up, but with no greater success. Again and again he tried after the tempting morsel, but at last had to give it up, and walked away with his nose in the air, saying: I am sure they are sour.
IT IS EASY TO DESPISE WHAT YOU CANNOT GET.
