Newsweek Kool-Aid: Losing Olympics Bid Is Good For Obama
Newsweek ^ | Friday, October 2, 2009 | Katie Connolly

Posted on 10/02/2009 9:39:39 AM PDT by kristinn

SNIP Wow – I did NOT see that coming. The way I figured it, this White House is far too protective of the President’s strategically-crafted image to allow him to travel thousands of miles for only to fail on the world stage. I thought it a done deal - who's better at vote counting than the Obama people? I would have bet money that Rahm and Axelrod knew they had the numbers in the bag before they let him step on Air Force One. I was so very wrong. Not only did they fail, they failed in the first round! It's a bad look for the President, especially coming on the heels of this morning’s depressing unemployment figures.

This is pretty embarrassing for the White House. (Especially letting Obama having to fail in front of his wife – ouch!) But ultimately, it’s a good thing for him. As I wrote on Monday, the Olympics are notorious for running massively over budget. The organizing committees are always rife with infighting and power games, as all manner of colorful cronies badger members to get their paws on some of those coveted Olympics dollars.

SNIP

By going to Copenhagen he became the public face of the effort. Already, some of his closest supporters and friends were on the bid committee: his campaign’s National Finance Chair Penny Pritzker and a co-chair of his inaugural committee Patrick Ryan both had key roles. Senior Adviser David Axelrod’s communications firm, AKPD Media, was one of the contractors for the committee, and Obama confidant Valerie Jarrett had been involved in supporting the bid.

SNIP

This will be fodder for late night comedians and talk back radio for a day or two. But winning the Olympics could have bogged down his entire presidency.

This we call “journalism.”

Everyone gives these horse’s asses in the White House more credit than they are due.

From bottom to top, they are all leftist ideologues who hang out in their own little echo chambers.

In the CNN news video, the guy saying “Chicago is out? Chicago is out? Chicago is out?” is emblematic of the idiots on the left.

See it here: http://www.freedomslighthouse.com/2009/10/cnn-achor-disbelieving-at-announcement.html

What I find really funny is Newsweak expects people to pay for this kind of reporting. Quite the business model, become a lick spittle step and fetch and expect people to pay for your opinion. Wonder how much longer this periodical will last?

The spin — either 1) the WORLD is racist; 2) George Bush alienated all our allies, it is his fault; and only Obama can fix it, but he has a lot of work to do, 3) We are glad we did not win, it would cost too much, etc. Watch for the spin-wizzards to come up with something.

I liked Drudge, tho — ‘The EGO has landed.’ oh hahah.

BS. He didn't fly all the way there just to be 'dissed.
He had some (bad) inside info that Chicago was going to win and wanted to be there to make it appear like it was all about him.
I wish I could print what I'm thinking.

FWIW, I think it is good news for Barry.

I don't know about anyone else, but in the last 48 hrs, with the prospect of Chicago getting the games, I have learned more about corruption in Chicago and Illinois than in the rest of my life combined.

What do you wanna bet that now that the games have gone bye-bye, so do the investigations.

Which makes me wonder if Chicago deliberately sabotaged its own chances somehow...

Tinfoily, I know, just askin'...

I sort of agree, I guess. Some Obama people are so corrupt, and they'd be running the Olympic committees. It would make the SLC olympics look tame by comparison. There'd be ex cabinet secretaries and advisors being raked through the mud for years. So yes, probably ok for Obama because Axelrod and Rahm will stay out of the Olympic nonsense.

C'mon, if Chicago got the olympics, with this crowd, you kow they'd be steering all sorts of stuff to their friends. It would likely really get over-the-top.

Losing the Olympics good for Obama writes starry-eyed groupie of Marxist Obama, Katie Connolly.

This kind of unconditional adoration of a cult leader is famously seen in such settings as in Jonestown, Guyana and the Manson Family commune.

Newsweek writers and editors have little idea how much they are ridiculed and laughed at, but hey, maybe it's good for them, n'est ce pas?
