SNIP Wow I did NOT see that coming. The way I figured it, this White House is far too protective of the Presidents strategically-crafted image to allow him to travel thousands of miles for only to fail on the world stage. I thought it a done deal - who's better at vote counting than the Obama people? I would have bet money that Rahm and Axelrod knew they had the numbers in the bag before they let him step on Air Force One. I was so very wrong. Not only did they fail, they failed in the first round! It's a bad look for the President, especially coming on the heels of this mornings depressing unemployment figures.
This is pretty embarrassing for the White House. (Especially letting Obama having to fail in front of his wife ouch!) But ultimately, its a good thing for him. As I wrote on Monday, the Olympics are notorious for running massively over budget. The organizing committees are always rife with infighting and power games, as all manner of colorful cronies badger members to get their paws on some of those coveted Olympics dollars.
SNIP
By going to Copenhagen he became the public face of the effort. Already, some of his closest supporters and friends were on the bid committee: his campaigns National Finance Chair Penny Pritzker and a co-chair of his inaugural committee Patrick Ryan both had key roles. Senior Adviser David Axelrods communications firm, AKPD Media, was one of the contractors for the committee, and Obama confidant Valerie Jarrett had been involved in supporting the bid.
SNIP
This will be fodder for late night comedians and talk back radio for a day or two. But winning the Olympics could have bogged down his entire presidency.

Its all about Obama. The Cult.
Really is amazing. No words.
LOL! Yeah, it would have been a quagmire...
If it taught him some humility, it would be good for him. I don’t think there’s much chance of that.
Pitched, groveled, and bowed. Inspite of all his hustling, he failed. Period. People are seeing him for the fraud and husckster that he is.
losing the election would be good for him too
To Newsweak, everything that happens is really good for Obama.
This we call “journalism.”
All of BO’s failures are certainly good for the country. How much longer can we endure his hateful adminstration?
Everyone gives these horse’s asses in the White House more credit than they are due.
From bottom to top, they are all leftist ideologues who hang out in their own little echo chambers.
In the CNN news video, the guy saying “Chicago is out? Chicago is out? Chicago is out?” is emblematic of the idiots on the left.
See it here: http://www.freedomslighthouse.com/2009/10/cnn-achor-disbelieving-at-announcement.html
Gonna need more Dramamine to deal with this level of spin! Whew!
If this smile stays on my face for more than 4 hours, I’ll be calling my doctor.
What a beautiful day.
What I find really funny is Newsweak expects people to pay for this kind of reporting. Quite the business model, become a lick spittle step and fetch and expect people to pay for your opinion. Wonder how much longer this periodical will last?
The spin — either 1) the WORLD is racist; 2) George Bush alienated all our allies, it is his fault; and only Obama can fix it, but he has a lot of work to do, 3) We are glad we did not win, it would cost too much, etc. Watch for the spin-wizzards to come up with something.
I liked Drudge, tho — ‘The EGO has landed.’ oh hahah.
Sounds like a 14 year old groupie.
Last time someone rode off to seal the deal on such a sure thing, his army got drowned in the Red Sea.
Poor Michelle, all that sacrificing for nothing. She needs another vacation.
Wow - that’s brilliant.
I wonder her take would have been after the Lincoln assassination?
“If he survived he would have been bogged down by problems with Reconstruction boondoggles...”
Agree with the premise, but I think the last one to ride off on such a sure thing was probably Custer.
Oh you mean that Satanist magazine which parades itself as a news-magazine?
Leaving the presidency would be good for him too. More time with his family.
Give the guy credit though for a quick response. I doubt this story had been pre-written.
It’s 1984, and I have awoken in the Soviet Union....
On another news site, they are blaming the “TEABAGGERS”...
As Bugs Bunny would say, 'what a maroon.'
Go over to KOS, you’ll see all three. It’s EVERYONE’S FAULT BUT OBAMA’s...

"A Mind Strong Back Is A Terrible Thing To Waste"
He should have taken the styrofoam pillars from Denver with him.
>> These people are shameless.
Always were.
But more and more, Joe Citizen is on to their games, and aware that it’s all spin to further their agenda.
I don’t think they fool that many folks anymore.
I don't know about anyone else, but in the last 48 hrs, with the prospect of Chicago getting the games, I have learned more about corruption in Chicago and Illinois than in the rest of my life combined.
What do you wanna bet that now that the games have gone bye-bye, so do the investigations.
Which makes me wonder if Chicago deliberately sabotaged its own chances somehow...
Tinfoily, I know, just askin'...
C'mon, if Chicago got the olympics, with this crowd, you kow they'd be steering all sorts of stuff to their friends. It would likely really get over-the-top.
“As I wrote on Monday, the Olympics are notorious for running massively over budget.”
That wasn’t the point. The IMPORTANT people in Chicago were gonna clean up Big Time.
This kind of unconditional adoration of a cult leader is famously seen in such settings as in Jonestown, Guyana and the Manson Family commune.
Newsweek writers and editors have little idea how much they are ridiculed and laughed at, but hey, maybe it's good for them, n'est ce pas?
.
He won't be around in 2016.
The ‘pubbies and right pundits should demand an investigation whether it was illegal to use public funds to lobby for his supporters on the olympic committee in Chicago.
What people are seeing is an ignorant and juvenile empty suit who can be pushed around with zero respect.
A time to be coy, a time to lie
A time to rant, while shoveling (bleep)
A time to dismiss, a time to conceal
A time to try - to fool all of the sheep.
If the press EVER soft-pedaled and practically held the kleenex under Bush’s nose and said ‘blow’, just ONCE, like they’ve done with Pres-ent Obama, I’d need new underwear.
PS - he will always be Pres-ent until he shows some ID.
Do people really read Newsweek anymore? And if the answer is yes, why?
Well, I suppose the author is right...uber athlete Obama would be desperate to win the gold medal in every event, or claim that he did and there’s be all that video taped proof that he didn’t actually win, and let’s face it, we don’t want to see him contort himself (gymnastics) anymore than he already does....
Thought about him but the Indians were armed. Jews just walked softly and had Moses carry a big stick.
I was skimming the DUmp, and that's the NUMBER ONE reason why Chicago got shut down apparently! The world got a look at the raving lunatics we have in our country and turned us down.
Wait a minute... I thought no one showed up to all those "teabagger" parties?!!
I guess now they are unconsciously admitting that they left an impression afterall!!
I cannot believe the SPIN, I mean that is spinning 100 mph! Give me a break ~ having won could have bogged down his presidency? Anything to make their guy look good.
It sickens me that for 2 or 3 years in my 20’s I actually subscribed to this piece of garbage magazine. Thank goodness I wised up!
I don’t read it, but I sometimes touch it or actually pick it up and hold it in the waiting rooms of dental and medical offices.
