Elizabeth Edwards is threatening to divorce her husband, John, after learning of allegations he had committed adultery with more than one woman, the National Enquirer is reporting.
According to the Enquirer, the allegations are in a book proposal by former Edwards aide Andrew Young in which he says he falsely claimed to have fathered Rielle Hunter's 19-month-old daughter, Frances.
Edwards had an affair with Hunter during the 2008 presidential campaign. According to The New York Times and other reports quoting sources, Edwards is considering declaring he's the little girl's father, which he has previously denied.
"Elizabeth was read portions of Young's book proposal, and she flipped out," a source told the Enquirer. "What really pushed her over the edge is Young's allegation that John had other affairs with women on the campaign trail. Elizabeth basically told John that if she found out that was true, she'd have to divorce him because then he'd be a 'serial cheater.'"
The Enquirer has another source that says John Edwards is denying the allegations, telling his wife, "Young's book is a pack of lies."
The paper reports that Elizabeth Edwards' divorce threats include taking half of their joint $53 million worth and going public with political secrets in open divorce court.
"Elizabeth knows every dirty little secret in her husband's political past. She's been his confidant for years, and she's always kept quiet. But now she's prepared to reveal all his secrets in open court," a source told the Enquirer.
Elizabeth Edwards has stage four metastatic cancer, which her husband said was in remission when he had an affair with Hunter.

In the olden days, Reille Hunter would have been approached by Playboy Magazine for a major spread when her 20 seconds in the limelite had faded. I’m reminded of the incredibly ugly “church secretary” that brought down “Reverend” Jim Baker about 20 years ago.
THE DLS is that the press has known about this all along. As long as Edwards was a player, he was safe. Does the SRM hold to the same standards for Republicans and why not?
People better start realizing that marriage is ordained by God, and they better start taking it seriously. You’re not some kind of cultured monkey or ape, no matter what any nitwit wants to tell you. You are made in his image and you carry his breath of life. That makes you a moral person, and you are responsible directly to him, not something some scientist tells you. When you disrespect your marriage, you disrespect God. You don’t mess around on your or your husband. Period.

For months now, Elizabeth, who is said to be talking to a divorce lawyer, also has been sniping at Hunter - painting her as a blackmailing gold digger - in blog comments where she uses the pseudonym "Cherubim," according to a source who knows Elizabeth. Though "Cherubim" has recently described herself as an African-American woman, the source insists, "It's Elizabeth. She's used 'cherubim' as a password. Look at the gravestone of their son Wade: It's an angel holding a boy." Her husband, on the other hand, is a skunk liar who came very close to being President because the MSM covered his a$$.
A pox on all of them.
Moreover, there is no way that ambulance chaser and his vindictive wife deserve any of the wealth they have.
They didn't earn a penny of it. They stole it from doctors, nurses, and health care workers that they sued into to oblivion.

Not so long ago she was a millionaire who may have ended up a First Lady.
Now she has stage 4 cancer and a putrid husband whose personal indiscretions that will affect his and her children drips out into the public like drops in a Chinese water torture machine.
Her personal life, like her cancer, just continues to get worse.Just proves how life can change quickly.

I, on the other hand, have no sympathy for her or her husband. They made millions off of the suffering of others, drove medical expenses throught the roof, lied, cheated, etc. All for their vanity and quest for power. She was in on it with him. Along for the ride if not a defense.
If this was a Republican, the MSM would do a 24/7 hit job. But it was these disgusting liberals, so its hands off.
Same with David Letterman's admitted affairs, the bad blackmailing producer will get the scorn, not the lying, cheating latenight talker.

That “Loving Couple Act” Elizabeth and Eddie put on before the cameras was nauseating.
She and her cancer were being used to advance his political ambitions.
She was stupid for allowing that—although she clearly loved the media spotlight as much as Eddie did.

This horrible domestic drama is almost a metaphor for modern America.
We have a married couple who rapidly amassed wealth and status; accessorized with the requisite number of children, presenting the perfect “American Success Story”.
Over the course of a few years, the loss of a son and Elizabeth’s cancer diagnosis must have sent the Edwards into a tailspin of grief.
Sadly, it seems, the tragedies did not bind them together. So what were the influences and motivations that plunged these people into self-destruction and narcissism? What could have prevented this debasement? Did they even consider the harmful effects to their children and each other?
Sadly, we have all witnessed similar destruction caused by adultery and immorality - in our own families and friends. The difference being that the National Enquirer has not printed all the gory details.
Time for John and Elizabeth Edwards to grow up, think of their children, get better advice and go into seclusion. A church might be a good place to start.
I’ve lived in NC for almost 15 yrs. I have heard several people say it was common knowledge that he was a philanderer. These comments were made to me back when he first ran for the Senate.
I wasn't defending anyone, simply trying to point out the quick slide that a person's life can take . All that glitters is not gold as the saying goes.
Elizabeth Edwards KNEW he was having an affair and STILL HELPED him in running for PRESIDENT!!! She is an ENABLER and Power Monger.

We knew all along that Liz was a co-conspirator in John Boy’s sleezy career as an ambulance chasing millionaire and as a political demagogue. And now we learn she was equally complicit in concealing his morally reprehensible private life.
In other words she shares his guilt, and I say she deserves absolutely no sympathy — cancer to the contrary not withstanding.
Moreover, the disgrace and tragedy these two evil-doers have bequeathed to their three mutual children and to John Boy’s illegitimate daughter are virtually beyond description, beyond understanding. Eternal damnation would seem too kind a fate for this couple.
Does this mean that she wouldn’t divorce hm if it was only one woman?
