BLUE SPRINGS, MO. An unusual sign has appeared along Interstate 70 in Blue Springs.
If you are traveling in the eastbound lanes of the freeway between Adams Dairy Parkway and the Grain Valley exit you will see a sign that appears to be anti-President Barack Obama.
The sign features the hammer and sickle, a symbol of communism and insinuates that Obama will jeopardize the first and second amendments to the Constitution, which are free speech and the right to keep and bear arms.
NBC Action News reporter Sloane Heller confirmed late Thursday morning the billboard is owned by William Cody, a metro small business owner. He lives by the stadiums and works in metal fabrication.
He says he isn't necessarily anti-Obama, but is against the policies coming out of the White House.
He calls the Federal Stimulus Package a waste and is equally upset over the bailout of the Big 3 Auto Makers.
Cody says this is his first billboard and he did it "to vent." He says, "We voted for change and this is the change we got?"
Cody says he is working on another sign for the same spot. It's set to go up in December. He won't reveal the content except to say it won't have Obama's name on it.
Let us know what you think. Is the sign offensive, or is it freedom of speech?

Sigh. There is no need for a right to freedom of speech for speech that offends no one.
Is the sign offensive OR Is it Freedom of Speech
"Or?". I believe "offensive" signs are protected by freedom of speech.
the nation now gets it - we in the US are tried of him - he needs to go - and go now!
Let us know what you think. Is the sign offensive, or is it freedom of speech?

Inoffensive speech doesn’t need protected. If no one is offended, the freedom of speech issue never comes up in the first place.
This makes the question sort of silly.
I've got the coords for a flight....and some thoughts for a message...{:-)
Great to see the Show me state showing up!

It’s FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!
Report this to the Billboard Czar!
I don’t know who paid for it......but KUDOS!!!!!!!!!!
The sign is honest
Dam right it’s offensive. There should be harsh penalties in place for anyone claiming the 1st Amendment is in jeopardy!
But...but...but...He WON!! (Just ask him.)
I see lots of billboards and commercials that offend me. But that's why we have a 1st amendment.
If this administration and their followers can't take the heat of criticism, I must respectfully suggest they consider career changes.
Harry Truman also from Jackson County Missouri which happens to be the location of the billboard once said!
“if you can’t take the heat then get out of the kitchen”
Funny how it all comes home to Jackson County Missouri.
CBS: this is exactly why people now think you and your fellow travelers are anything but non-partisan. Any idiot knows that the sign, for some people, is both offensive and freedom of speech. They are not mutually exclusive. Idiots.
“This makes the question sort of silly.”
The question is more scary than silly. The fact that it is even being asked indicates that we are rapidly devolving into a nation with a third-world mentality.
I wonder what they thought of the crucifix in the jar of urine, or the Bushitler signs. Oh, sorry, that was just celebrating diversity of opinion. This lone billboard is quite a different matter if enough libs find it "offensive".
I didn’t know Truman hailed from that same county!
I guess those “Show Me”ers can hit the nail on the head.
Guess I’ll swing over that way this weekend and take a look. Grain Valley has a great antique shop and there’s a big one just off Adams Dairy Pky.
Nobody would even be asking about it if it was in Spanish as are many of our highway signs now in Texas.
Hip-hip, HURRAY!!
Hip-hip, HURRAY!!
Hip-hip, HURRAY!!
I smile every time i drive past that sign :-)
This is not an either/or issue.
LMAO. The beatings will continue until morale improves.
