This is what he said today:
If you read the remarks carefully, you’ll see that’s not what I said. I said those that had a personal vituperative attack [sic] on- on President Obama as a person- that was tinged with racism, but I recognize that people who disagree with him on health care or the environment, things like that- the vast majority of those are not tinged by racism.

I live in the south and I’ve seen the south come a long way and I've seen the rest of the country that shared the south's attitude toward minority groups, at that time particularly African-Americans, that that racism [unintelligible word] still exists. And I think it's bubbled up to the surface because of belief among many white people, not just in the south, but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It's an abominable circumstance and grieves me and concerns me very deeply.

Jimmy Carter is the ONLY PERSON NOW LIVING I know to ever make such a statement. I can't believe that a human being alive could believe such crap (though I am sure just by the laws of probably that at least a few do).
Certainly, people of a generation or so ago might have held such a believe about Blacks, Irishmen, Italians, Oriental, Yankees, Southerners, etc...but all those folks have been long dead.
Anyone who would vote for John Kerry over, for example, Michael Steel, Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, or Bill Cosby is also a racist!!!
Carter, now : the vast majority of those are not tinged by racism.
Carter thinks that more than 50% of the people are racist AT THE SAME TIME that he thinks that more than 50% of the people are not racist.
Someone better inspect the Habitat houses he worked on, to make sure he used enough nails.

Then Clinton acted the fool in repeating what he thought Carter said and then saying it is a vast right winged conspiracy.

That’s not what he said, because if you look at the video, he said that he said what he had previously said was taken out of context, and what he meant to say is what he had been said but not what he where previously been said wheretofore and such and whatnot. It is all very clear. He was a physicist! He has smart.
Right! But dems don't see themselves as racist when they trashed Clarence Thomas or Condi Rice or Michael Steel.
