Elizabeth Smart Says She Was Raped Daily

By JENNIFER DOBNER SALT LAKE CITY – Elizabeth Smart testified Thursday she was raped repeatedly each day after she was abducted from her bedroom seven years ago and told she would be killed if she yelled or tried to escape.
She described Brian David Mitchell, her alleged kidnapper, as "evil, wicked, manipulative, stinky, slimy, selfish, not spiritual, not religious, not close to God."
Smart testified in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City as part of a competency proceeding for the man charged in her 2002 kidnapping.
Mitchell has twice been found incompetent for trial in state court. Mitchell and his estranged wife were found with Smart nine months after she disappeared from her Salt Lake City home.
A judge ruled earlier this week that testimony from Smart, now 21, is relevant to the mental competency of Mitchell, who was removed from the courtroom before Smart arrived and taken to a holding cell where he could listen to the proceedings.
Smart was poised and composed while testifying for just under two hours.

Bless her heart. That HAS to be tough for her to relive the nightmare over and over again. Tough for her family to hear, too. I pray justice is WELL SERVED to this monster.
I could cry just reading the words. I can’t imagine what it was like for her. How does a person mentally and physically survive such a horror?
Cant’ this guy just “fall down a flight of stairs”, and spare this poor girl all this trauma? Hopefully, he’ll be holding on to his wife when he takes his spill.
That poor girl. I still remember the day I heard she had been found. I was driving my daughter to dance and literally had chills all over. I was so shocked and happy she was alive. I hope both of her kidnappers get the death penalty and that it is sooner than later.
Yeah, I was just thinking Elizabeth should be invited on THE VIEW. Of course, Whoopi would probably highlight the fact that Mitchell did it hundreds of times and Polanski only once.

I am so thankful she was found and kept alive. Heinous crime. Dear Elizabeth expresses herself well here and with great specificity and clarity. Such a lovely young lady, it just goes to show that recovery is possible to people who have experienced severe trauma and that they can not only thrive, but give back so much inspiration to the rest of the community around them. May God continue to bless this wonderful lady.
I remember the day she was found, too. I was listening to Hannity. He was talking about something or other and stopped mid-sentence and said, “You have got to be kidding me...they have found Elizabeth Smart alive!”

Generally one struggles on until one is in one’s late 30s or 40s.
Then the mind’s ability to repress things deteriorates and one relives it and suicides, overdoses, or goes through therapy.

Very plain and accurate language. Most of this type of honesty is complete rejected by liberals when it is directed at real criminals.
The ACLU and those who make excuses for them are all guilty for making it easier for animals like the one described, to abduct, rape and if need be, murder the innocent.
Whenever I hear or read someone say, "but the ACLU does some good things", it makes me know that is a ignorant and evil person who ignores the great evil they do.

I have to concur - to compare what Obozo is doing to our pocketbooks to what these disgusting people did to this poor girl over a long period of time and on a daily basis is completely inappropriate. Step 1 = engage brain; step 2 = use better discretion prior to typing comment.
I still think Elizabeth’s father is 1 of the dumbest jackasses on the face of this earth.
I think Wanda really is mentally ill — schizophrenic/psychotic/whatever — and can’t be held fully responsible for her actions. Based on recent reports from her mother, who released letters Wanda had written from prison, her tone has changed dramatically since she’s been on medication. Mitchell, on the other hand, appears to be just a garden variety sociopath, who not only doesn’t care how much he hurts people in the course of getting what he wants, but actually relishes it. He probably did some awful things to Wanda too, taking advantage of her mental illness in much the same way he took advantage of Elizabeth’s youth. Wanda probably belongs right where she is, in a secure mental institution under medication.
Mitchell should have been executed a long time ago. There’s something way wrong with our legal system when somebody can put on courtroom shows of uncontrollable mental illness and then be allowed to refuse medication. If he’s not menatlly ill, then he can control himself in the courtroom if he wants to, and if he’s mentally ill to the point of being unable to control himself, then he’s in no condition to be the judge of whether or not he needs medication. He’s figured out this idiotic loophole in our legal system and consciously exploited it.
I was just speculating what Whoopi would say, or how she’d spin. She’s thinks she’s good at spinning, as when she said Michael Vick was just doing what was normal for the part of Georgia he grew up in. (That would be news for 99.9999999999% of Georgians.) Also, notice how the worst crime Vick’s semi-defenders could ever summon for him was his participation in dog-fighting, NOT dog electrocution, dog torture, etc etc. THOSE little details were always swept under the rug. It’s still not as good , or as totally rancid as what Vick himself said, as he counselled school children, and pretended to be penitent. “I made the mistake of being a follower, not a leader. Don’t be a follower”. People are still under the false impression that Vick just got sucked into involvement with a “dog fighting ring”. I think that Polanski would lose half his followers if THEY HAD EVER READ THE TRANSCRIPT! They’re still operating on the premise that he just crossed the line, as an oversexed middle-aged man, probably with a pubescent Lolita.
Elizabeth Smart is alive, thankfully. But, this scumbag and his wife did murder her childhood. That IMHO deserves the death penalty.

We are far more advanced today, in terms of technology, but I think the American people, as a whole, in 1909 were far smarter, and far more correct about just about everything in life, than we are now.
