Today AOL is spotlighting Toby Keith's new Music Video 'American Ride'

At this point, the team for songwriter, vocalist and entertainer Toby Keith is well-versed in how to schedule an album launch. But even his considerable hit single track record couldn't prepare him, and label Show Dog Nashville, for the speed with which his new single "American Ride" would fly up the charts. Consequently, the release schedule for the album, which shares the single's title, has been advanced to Oct. 6.
Originally scheduled for an Oct. 13 release, "American Ride" rolls out early because of the tremendous response the lead single is receiving. It is the fastest rising single since "Courtesy of the Red, White And Blue (The Angry American)" and is top 10 on all the major singles charts. The song is also making waves on the video channels.
An animated clip that skewers a host of political and financial sacred cows, the video jumped to No. 2 on the fan-voted CMT Top 20 Countdown this week. Additionally, the video is No. 1 on CMT.com's High 5, making it the most clicked-on video on the site.
Keith is already the No. 4 album seller of the decade in any genre so far, and "American Ride" will only add to that total. His America's Toughest Tour has been drawing standing-room-only crowds all summer, and his first major European tour kicks off in November.
He is once again one of the top-earning musicians in the world, as ranked by Forbes, and his entertainment empire extends to major motion pictures, a chain of restaurants, his own record label and his own clothing line.

I might always like his political views, but I have to say that Keith has been supportive of our troops. As Bill O’Reilly would say, Toby Keith is a patriot.
At least we know he’s a natual born American.

He reminds me too of Springsteen in the 80’s cashing in on American patriotism - then disparaging us once his checks were cashed.
Not any more — he threw him under the bus — he really wasn’t that big of supporter but listened to our Doofus Gov Henry and Barry Switzer. Bet that won’t happen again. Toby has done dozens and dozens of performances for our troops — have no idea how many because he NEVER gets spotlighted for those trips except occasionally. I have no clue how many times he has been in Iraq and Afghanistan. Toby Keith is back to being the American Patrio of the Red, White, and Blue. When you diss our military, you diss Toby Keith.
BTW, he has now made the White House’s enemies list!

In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
Toby Keith is not like that even a little. His Dad did lose an eye in training camp and Toby was doing performances for our military long before he became so popular. If he was doing it to sell records, you would be hearing everytime he goes overseas but we don’t even hear in Norman and I live about a mile from where he lives. A huge American flag has been flying at his horse farm for as long as I can remember.
Toby bleeds Red, White, and Blue and I will support his patriotism to the hilt. That man goes to Afghanistan and lives with the troops — nothing special. He will put on a show for our troops in the middle of the night if necessary.
He lacklustered supported Obama thanks to Doofus Henry and Switzer who are friends but so did a lot of people that regret it and now he is on the WH enemies list. Toby Keith will always put the troops first. He pays for his own trips most of the time to go visit the troops.
I noticed Hannity has toned down his praise of Toby Keith as well. I don’t think he was part of the recent wave of Hannity’s “Freedom Tours” either.
If he is such a patriot, why did he support Obama, who was very vocal against the Iraq war? Is the man just not that bright?
Sorry, all. I don’t see Toby Keith’s video as a negative portrayal of America at all. Instead I think it embraces America with all our contradictions, confusions and ups and downs. “Gotta love this American ride”.
I was very much a fan of Toby Keith, I had many of his albums.
Toby Keith lost me when he supported Obama. He’s been deleted from my iPod and I will never listen to him again.... he’s a fake, a lib with a cowboy hat.
He can take his buyers remorse and stuff it, he, and people like him, helped to get us into this mess.

Toby Keith should have followed his instincts and said no endorsement but his friends were telling him to endorse Obama including Pres David Boren I would suspect. He has close ties to OU but made a big mistake. When Keith made the WH enemies list, I burst out laughing.
That’s your problem. He made a mistake and is now on the WH enemies list. He has always done fundraisers for both Dems and GOP here in OK. He is a registered Dem who supported Pres Bush to the hilt on the Iraq War and supports our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq plus around the world.
A lot of conservatives and conservative commentators supported Obama because they didn’t want McCain. If it was anyone else but McCain I might see it your way but he was a tough sell.

Hey I still blame a lot of people right here on FreeRepublic who helped get McCain nominated. Of course what good does that do? They're just going to do the same thing the next time around and ensure an Obama second term.

I never heard of him -- but then I don't keep up with popular music. But he was one of the four on the front cover of one of the supermarket rags (the Globe, I think) that went with a story on voices Obama would like to silence! I wondered why (I think two of the others were Palin and Beck, but I'm not sure -- I didn't buy the rag!)

I have to ask. Your posts sound as though you are pretty close to Toby, that you have some insight into what his actual instincts are.
I give him his props for entertaining the troops, but he went from singing about ‘me me me, doncha like me, you should, i’m rich and famous’ to singing about the troops in about the same amount of time as it took to take out Saddam’s Republican Guard in operation Iraqi Freedom (no time at all).
Supports Obama, sings with Willie Nelson, sorry his conservative creds are questionable, his love of money undeniable.
I think it’s great he is so supportive of the troops. I’m not a fan of the lyrics though. In a way, it’s good he’s pointing out all wrong turns this country is taking, but it’s really a depressing song. I think whoever wrote the song has something against women, as the lyrics about moms and girls are derogatory. (I realize that’s been happening for years to men, fathers in particular.) I’m not deeply offended or anything, but just not a fan.

I see the point you are trying to make but the tone of that particular video isn’t aimed at the current ideology ofthe country, but at the people directly.

Glad you could see my point, thanks. Not so many are as open-minded. Yes the video is aimed at some people directly - I thought the bit with Al Gore was pretty funny as well as the part where Obama is carried in on other people’s shoulders. But what of it? We the people elected Obama and in general we should be able to laugh at ourselves a little bit for this lunacy. Many of Toby Keith’s videos are pure comedy. I won’t say this is his best but I did get a few laughs from it and I’m not ready to put the guy on MY enemies list for this one video.
