This morning, Whoopi Goldberg called during the show to clarify a statement she made about the recent controversy surrounding Roman Polanski.
Goldberg had said, "It was something else but I don't believe it was rape-rape."
Whoopi wanted to clarify the comment and make it clear that she was talking about the legal charge against Polanski at the time.

I called immediately! I wanted to comment on something I said about Goldberg the other day. I said she was the ugliest mutant I had ever seen, and that it looks like she hasn’t bathed in 50 years. I said that I could not comprehend ANY man ever touching her with a ten foot stick and that her mouth reminded me of a fouled toilet! So, just to be clear,...I stand by that statement!!

I watched the clip of her "retraction". It was the first words out of her mouth at the start of the show. She read from the teleprompter the statement verbatim (sans any Whoopisms), and then she moved to another subject, quickly.

Forcible rape is clearly forcible rape. Statutory rape may or may not be as bad as forcible rape depending upon the actual circumstances.
A 19 year old college freshman who has sex with his 16 year old girlfriend can be charged with statutory rape in some states (and in the past having to face her father).
But a circumstance like that is clearly different from a middle aged man getting a 13 year old girl drunk and forcing himself on her.
This was "rape rape", and not a teenager caught by the letter of the law. And for this "rape rape" he needs to go to "prison prison".
