Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been quietly assembling the blueprint of a presidential campaign and will announce Thursday the support of a group of high-level political strategists and donors, complemented by a handful of top new media consultants, POLITICO has learned.
Pawlenty, under the radar of D.C.s political community, has locked up some of the key operatives who engineered then-President George W. Bushs reelection campaign a significant feat for a little-known Midwestern politician.

I hope he is not the best that the GOP can put forward!
He’s not terrible, but is a “Bigger Government” Conservative. He did good here keeping taxes level, but not reducing the growth of Government.
I like Tim, but this is a waste of time and money.
No More Big Government Politicians!
My earthworms have more personality and strength!Nice? Enough to be a neighbor but not impressive enough to be a forceful leader. In front of a microphone, he's a wimp. Redstate has an interview revealing Pawlenty as an amnesty supporter, too.
We need a candidate with a winning way (authenticity), common sense, and a heart to set America on the right course (again).
Regards . . . Penny
where was he on 9-12-2009?
The Battle of “The P’s” is coming our way. It’s going to be Pawlenty vs. Palin. I know which side I’m on. It’s Sarah all the way.
We need to do our own recruiting. A fellow with 56% approval in Minnesota doesn’t appeal to me. Minnesota is as far out of the Conservative mainstream as it comes.
No more wooden nickels.
Mr. Pawlenty delivered the remarks that probably best reveal his views on the environment. “It looks like we should have listened to President Carter,” he told the Minnesota Climate Change Advisory Group. “He called us to action, and we should have listened. . . . Climate change is real. Human behavior is partly and may be a lot responsible. Those who don't think so are simply not right. We should not spend time on voices that say it's not real.”
Anyone ever heard of these guys? Are these the same geniuses who told us McCain was the way to go in 2008?
...the emerging belief among many establishment Republicans that Pawlenty is becoming the sole viable alternative to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney... [this should read "quick, find someone to stop Palin"]
Yeah, some of his people have already been posting here, trying to gin up some support for the bum.
I think the GOP isnt so concerned w/ good or bad (ie will this person follow the Constitution and serve his district). Its all about winning at any cost even if its bad for the country as a whole. Neither party is worth anything.
I’ll say it again - I’m a very conservative voter - if the idiot Repubs nominate anyone but Palin - I don’t vote for them. No discussion. I voted for Palin last time and held my nose with old whats his face. Not again.
I am a part of everything that I have read. - Theodore Roosevelt
The day that Sarah declares, the rest of these candidates can step aside, because none of them has the juice to compete with Palin, and none of them will have the crossover potential of Palin, to bring a bunch of mush-headed moderate/liberal women over to the Republican side (for just this one election).
Sorry, but other than Michelle Bachmann and the folks who voted for her, I don’t think there are any conservatvies in Minnesota. Pawlenty is certainly NOT a conservative. Minnesota as a whole is chock full of lefty moonbats.
Too bad, just like Jindal, we were all so excited and then he gave that speech!
The liberal women I know, many in my own family, (God help me)
do not like Palin. In fact most of the idiots are still singing Obama’s praises. How can we survive eight years of this nit wit? There will be no USA...
John Kline my friend
That's all well and fine, but I will not lift a finger, or donate a dime to ANY RINO, country club type Republican -- period. No more compromising as we were forced to do with McCain and Dole! NEVER AGAIN even if that means four more years of Obama.
I did not hear this bozo say a word while Al Franken stole a senate seat in Minnesota. Now as the governor I think he could and should have said something about Coleman vs Franken. So since he did not have the spine to stand up then and he seems to be a RINO he will not get my vote. Sorry Tim you be a NO GO!
Thanks but no thanks.
The key in 2012 is for conservatives to blow these candidates up way before we get into campaign season and the media begins to stump for the worst (R) candidate.
We failed last time allowing McCain to be hoisted up as the best Republican. we must learn from that mistake and derail any RINOs early.
We need to start working on Pawlenty and especially Romney NOW!
MCCAIN
PAWLENTY
Never again! No more establishment RINOs.
Be patient with the anti-Palin women in this country. Sure, some will never come around. But by the time Palin runs, this country will be so ready for a real American, especially moderate to liberal women who are having their worldviews and everyday lives upset for the first time in their ‘adult’ lives right now. There is no substance to these people’s political philosophy, they’ll abandon it in a heartbeat when the time comes.
“John Kline my friend.”
I am wholly unfamiliar with him. Who is he?
Obama and his media sycophants fear Palin. They tell us this every day. If she intends to be Reagan and take over the GOP for the conservatives, I back her 100%.
There are plenty of differences between parties. If you don't see that, you haven't been awake these past nine months.
Congressman from MN-2. As Conservative if not more so than Bachmann. Just keeps a lower profile. He houses the opposition by double what Bachmann does.

he seems like a decent enough guy, but is too much of a Global Warming Nut for me
As a front runner, he'd lose like Mondale.
Yes, Pawlenty comes across reasonably well as a face of positive Republicanism. But I wonder if he has the mean streak it would take to beat the Dems and all the slime they will throw in 2012. Pawlenty spoke at CPAC a couple of times and he is mildly charismatic but he is no Reagan, sad to say.
I don’t know much about his MN record but I have heard very mixed reviews from the right. If he should end up as the nominee I would probably be enthusiastically *against* the other guy, but not really FOR Pawlenty.
Filed under *Republicans, lost in the wilderness*.
DeMint / Palin
Thank you for giving us Obama.
He doesn’t appeal to me in the least. At first glance he looks like a liberal. He’s got a fakey appearance. Not much charisma. We will need someone very strong looking and forthright. Sarah comes to mind. I’d like to see Bobby Jindahl bulk up a bit to match his brains. I like a Jindahl/Palin ticket...today that is.
LLS
As for the moonbats... I think it's the cold winters. It does something to you if you aren't careful about keeping your head covered.
Flame away, my face is set like a flint and I will not be moved on this point.
IF this is “the guy” the GOP can kiss its ass goodbye, along with the country.
God help us if we put up another RINO against the Messiah.
This guy’s a Big Government loving, Global Warming Nut. Any Republican that can get a majority of the votes in the socialists paradise of Minnesota isn’t going to energize the base.
I have a suspicion that this is the media’s new ‘John McCain’ for us. That was a pretty glowing article with absolutely no negatives mentioned. I have my doubts that we’ll ever see the same for Sarah.
