I have heard that water line breakages here in the US are more likely after major earthquakes around the world.

sensors noted dynamic stress on the Parkfield fault at a depth of five kilometres (three miles).

Didn't I just hear that Parkfield is the "Earthquake capital of the world" and has shakers almost daily?

Everytime there is an earthquake in California, a Hwy 101 tunnel in northern Oregon experiences ceiling collapse. This tunnel is located along the Oregon coast between Arch Cape and Oswald State Park.

Also the pilings along the Columbia River in north Portland vibrate during California earthquakes. This has been reported by people living in houseboats along the river.

Interesting theory. It makes a lot of sense.

Time for the New Madrid fault to crack again?

You would think, by now, they would know more about earthquake prevention. I’ll bet Obama would provide funding for the studies.
