Rotten, rotten men. A woman, OTOH would NEVER abuse a man, right? What about gays attacking gays, for example? (/barf)

From the article “The new system works by highlighting medical clues - such as higher than average hospital visits and certain mental health diagnoses - that are more common among battered MEN and women”.

Did you read the whole article? It says nothing about ‘wife’ abuse. It says men and women.

But any man that abuses his wife or child is rotten. The same goes for a woman who beats her husband.

Yep it throws ‘men’ in AFTER the uber-biased line that I quoted in the exerpt, which is there to bias the reader. Psy-ops in action.

If something is bothersome, it’s that they base it on a “diagnosis” of abuse. Sounds like circular reasoning to me, that the computer model is only formalizing presuppositions that were in doctors’ minds before. I’d want to see it based on firmer evidence, such as confessions, witnesses, and forensic data.

I didn’t say the article wasn’t biased but it did address battered men. Just saying.

Get a grip. Either you think that men don't represent the vast majority of perpetrators in domestic abuse cases, or your girl friend slapped you around and nobody believes you. Either way, you've got issues.

Relax. It says domestic abuse is the most common cause of nonfatal injury to women. That’s sad. Instead of getting upset about information about it, people should be getting upset at the men that cause those injuries.

I think that rather than accusing or arresting someone, it would provide a pattern that would allow medical personnel to question the patient a little more closely, specific questions about how the injury really occurred and if they feel they are safe. If they don’t even know who the other party is, they really can’t go arrest them.

I don’t associate with trash so no one slaps me around. Issues? Sounds like you got some, in spades.

No one should be attacking anyone. The article is pretty biased in the way its written.

And don't you forget it, see?

I never met a dame who didn't understand a slap in the face or a slug from a 45.

The best solution to domestic violence I have heard of was, once a restraining order was issued by the judge, most often against the man, to be fair, he then issued a bench order to the *woman*, *requiring* that she be armed with a functional handgun, and to carry it when in public.

And the judge was so sick of seeing the same women repeatedly, that if they were too poor to afford a handgun and ammo, he would buy one for her out of his own pocket.

He was crafty enough to also ask the local police to “bump” into her, informally, once or twice, and ask her about her court ordered gun. To make sure they were in the habit of carrying it with them.

The judge was exceptionally proud of the fact that after he started doing this, the number of women appearing before him a second time dropped to zero.

So profiling men is ok? We could use the same computer program to profile home grown terrorists. Then just go and arrest them and toss their computer and digs.

It’s also not true according to the CDC.

You’ve got to know how much liberals want to institute conviction by statistical analysis in place of tedious old evidence...

If by “profiling” men you mean encouraging abused women to be armed, and if the men violate the restraining order, knowing that the woman is armed, that they might be shot, then yes.

That’s little different than “profiling” an armed robber pointing a gun at a clerk in a gun store. It doesn’t really matter if the armed robber “meant” to kill the clerk when they are shot.

But, of course, if you turn this around it is also valid. If an abused man is at home, protected by a valid restraining order against his ex-wife or girlfriend, and she violates the restraining order, and he shoots her while fearing for his life (his words), that is just as good. Even more so if she has been told ahead of time that he is armed.
