Detroit is a good place to speed.

ABC News also reports that, "The in-car cameras and computers in most squad cars don't work so officers can't record traffic stops, run license plates and check for warrants." So basically, speeding is now fair game in the city of Detroit.

“speeding is now fair game in Detroit”

Not enough reason to go there.

They’ve been insane on those freeways for years, gang up so you can’t enter or get off

is there any place where the liberals hold sway that isn’t a hellhole?

It makes getting home from a game so much easier. No cops anywhere on the outbound lanes. I'm not talking about anything illegal.

Yes, but mostly only in certain “upscale” enclaves within liberal dominions, where only the priveleged can afford to live. For example, here in Chicago, the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, and some of the liberal suburbs are pretty nice places to live, if you can afford it. They make sure the minority vote-slaves can’t afford it.

There are also some middle-class enclaves left, mostly quieter residential neighborhoods in less desirable zip codes. A lot of policemen, firemen, and other goverment/union workers live in these areas, and the police make sure that gangbangers have a hard time getting a foothold there, even if it means a little racial profiling.

Now I say these places are not “hellholes” because there isn’t rampant crime like in other areas of the city, the neighborhoods are clean, and city services actually respond pretty promptly there. You still have to deal with all the crazy liberal nanny-state laws and overtaxation, so to someone from outside the “Lib Zone” it might still seem like a hellhole!

What if speeding and traffic enforcement became fair game in your community... And nobody noticed?

ABC is so silly. You can’t speed in Detroit — it’s impossible to hit 45mph without falling in a pothole!

Carmageddon. "So many pedestrians, so little time."

When I was FORCED kicking and screaming to go to Detroit on assignment, I saw a war zone in what USED to be middleclass neighborhoods.
McDonalds with no eating inside. Bulletproof glass drivethroughs.
Armed guards at Kmart and Walmart patrolling parking lots because autotheft is out of control
Armed guards inside Kmart and Walmart because shoplifting is out of control.
People who couldn’t move couches in front of their livingroom windows and sit there because of stray bullets.
Armed guards at restaurants.
Driveby shootings, 2 of which were into natal and neonatal nurseries in hospitals.
And that is just for starters.

Actually, I believe that the positive impact of an aggressive police force patrolling the streets and enforcing revenue stamps and broken headlights is greatly exaggerated and does not exceed the general inconvenience, expense and trouble that the presence of police engenders. So no, not carmageddon at all. We are conditioned to believe that in order to justify the huge and intrusive police presence that is inflicted on us by our well meaning neighbors.

That’s one reason I like living here.

Speed limits are just a suggestion and it’s not really tailgating unless your bumpers are touching.

I like the idea of things like radar and computers not working.

The cameras are another thing, although recordings of truly abominable actions by cops tend to disappear.

Amazing that cops could catch the he** out of speeders before VCRs were invented, I wonder how they actually did that? Perhaps the Detroit police force could review old records and learn the technique of catching criminals without cameras in their cars. Granted, they help but they are not absolutely necessary.

Unless it’s a Major felony the Detroit cops don’t give a damn.
