John Couey, convicted of killing 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford, had died of cancer, according to Jessie's grandfather, Archie Lunsford.
"We got a call from the warden this morning," said Lunsford.
Mark's mother, Ruthie, said this "is the best news she has heard."
Couey, 51, had been in Florida State Prison near Jacksonville.
He died 11:15 a.m. today at a Jacksonville hospital, state Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger said.
"So far, no one has claimed his body," she said. "If no one claims it, he'll be buried in an inmate cemetery at Union Correctional Institution in Starke."

I wonder how dad Mark Lunsford is doing. I really grew to like him as he spoke out in the first few months after Jessica was murdered. He did some work with John Walsh, I believe. Then he kind of just disappeared from the news shows and I wondered if he had fallen on tough times.
Hope he was in pain.

I could go for lead poisioning for these slime, but there is something more dramatic about giving them a dignified public ceremony, awarding them the order of the hempen necktie and leaving them to dangle on display for 30 minutes or so.

I hope Mark Lumsford is OK- I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose a child.
I know one girl who lost a daughter- 20 years ago as a newborn. She claims she is over it but i rarely have a conversation with her where she does not mention it.

People have been trying to trash his reputation lately, claiming he was “in on it”. Mostly the anti-death penalty liberals trying to fight for the “rights” of John Couey.
As if this guy didn’t have enough torment.

The news will get better when the pervs who knew what he was doing and protected and abetted him (but who were never even charged) meet their end, as well.

From a long ago, high school Asian history class regarding the execution of opium dealers:
They dug a hole deep enough that, if he fully extended himself, his toes would touch the ground, and wide enough so that if he fully extended his arms and hands, he could just brush the sides. No touch fore and aft.
Then they hung him in the hole with a slip knotted rope around his neck, and let him decide how long he wanted to live.
That works for me in cases like this.

Death was too good for this bastard. He needed to be tortured and ripped limb by limb in downtown Oraldno by 4 horses.
He died about 46 years too late.

Nor have I lost a child but I have known mothers who have. It is never “over”...all the rest of your days are coloured with grief. Joy is never as bright or joyful again. My heart goes out to this family and I remember the pain in her father’s eyes. It was haunting.

Regardless of what happens to this scum’s body, he has now had to face the ultimate judge and I do not believe his eternal sentence will be a light one.

But, even worse, not just to lose a child, but to know your child suffered. I do not know how one ever puts one’s head on a pillow, close your eyes, and goes to sleep peacefully ever again...with that memory. Knowing you were not there to protect your child.
Funny, he looks far older than his 51 years, and I’m betting this photo is about 4 years older than that. I guess being consumed with so much evil will do that to a person, a visible manifestation of a spiritual and psychological wasteland.
I'm hoping they gave him sugar pills because Couey buried poor Jessica alive...
