Christians "crucified" in Sudanese raids

Marauding bands of guerrillas have "crucified" seven Christians during a series of raids on villages in Sudan, with one man tied to a tree and mutilated while six other victims were nailed to pieces of wood and killed.

Villagers who found their bodies near the town of Nzara said it was like a "grotesque crucifixion scene", the Catholic Herald reports.

Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala of Tombura-Yambio is appealing for international help to stop the cycle of violence and attacks by members of the Lord's Resistance Army, saying the government at home appeared powerless against it.

In one instance guerrillas stormed into Our Lady Queen of Peace church in Ezo during a novena prayer and desecrated the Host, the altar and the building before abducting 17 people mostly in their teens and 20s. One of the captives was later tied to a tree and killed while 13 others in the group are still missing, according to Aid to the Church in Need.

"The attackers clearly wanted to harm the people because they knew they were at prayer," the bishop said.

"Afterwards people kept coming to me with such suffering in their eyes, begging me to do something about the situation, to get back their children and grandchildren who have disappeared."

A week after the first attack six people were ambushed in a forest near to the town of Nzara and killed after they were nailed to pieces of wood fastened to the ground.

There have been waves of violence in southern Sudan recently. I have posted some articles. Most of the violence is tribal. But this latest atrocity is the work of an extremist Christian militia, The Lord's Resistance Army.

Is this really the actions of a “Christian Extremist” group?

I can’t imagine a true “Christian” doing anything like this?

Lords Resistance Army?
As in Resisting the Lord and we are an army?

Hmmm I think we need to clarify this group.

Werent they the ones that desicrated The Body of Christ during the Novena and crucified/kidnapped the Catholics at the Novena?

Or did I miss read something here.

Neither can I.

They are a group founded by some former Catholic priest - who got kicked out of the church - and started his own militia, probably for revenge. They flourish amid the violence in Sudan, Rwanda, the Congo, etc. If you remember during the Rwandan genocide, massacres in churches were quite common.

If your enemy has a militia, you need a bigger militia.

They need to arm themselves.

...extremist Christian militia....

***

They are not really Christian. They follow some sort of syncretism that has some parts that may sound like Christianity, but these animals are not Christians.

LRA is a particularly horrifying group mainly active in Uganda, they’ve committed awful barbarities.

Nothing Christian about them.

Actually these are I believe a Ugandan group that espouses some weird Christian and witchcraft mix. I believe they were hired by the Sudanese as mercenaries in the past and its not clear if this attack means they are working for Khartoum again or just free-lancing.

Actually, this time it's not the Muslims at work. It's a mysterious, violent, and very strange Christian sect called The Lord's Resistance Army. I don't know much about them, but they've engaged in horrific acts throughout the region.

There is truth in what you say. Would it not be blasphemy to crucify someone similar to the Lord Jesus Christ?

The LRA is absolutely NOT Christian. Many cults, including Islam, take some of their mythology or terminology from Christianity.

The LRA “army” is made up of kidnapped children who are trained to love evil. I am suprised no philanthropist has raised a mercenary army to wipe out this evil cult.
