Moose declining in Minnesota's northwoods, among their few strongholds in lower 48 states
Researchers say such sightings of moose, an icon in Minnesota's northwoods, are likely to become more rare. A special advisory committee warned last month that climate change threatens moose.

Minnesota has an estimated 7,600 moose, nearly all in the forests of northeastern Minnesota, where plentiful swamps, lakes and streams provide good habitat. Yet they're beleaguered by increasingly warm weather and parasites such as brainworms, ticks and liver flukes.
"Almost without exception all of the indicators are that the population is declining," said Mark Lenarz, a moose expert with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Researchers said they weren't sure why the animal is struggling more in Minnesota than elsewhere and more study is needed.

Hmmm. what's wrong with this picture?
Another thing they didn't mention is Michigan's moose population, as if they don't exist.
Welp, time to invade Canada and gets us some more!
Among the coolest summers on record up here.
yeah to feed the wolves and cougars and bears we’re seeing more and more of!
Have they seen any? Climate change, that is ...
shhh! Don’t mention those annoying details!
Brainworms, I hate it when that happens.
I have found a good dose of Limbaugh or Beck
clears them right out.
I suppose it’s from inadvertently coming
in contact with liberals...
yeah it’s COLDER! SO you would think Canada would be seeing an even sharper decline wouldn’t you?
lol
Maybe some Moose porn would help them to get “in the mood” to make more moose.
it’s all Al frankens fault :D
There was a recent moose sighting in Frostbite Falls, Minnesota.
“Minnesota has an estimated 7,600 moose, nearly all in the forests of northeastern Minnesota, where plentiful swamps, lakes and streams provide good habitat.”
I have cousins there. (weak attempt at humor)

If the climate is affecting the moose (meese?) then perhaps they’re migrating. It’s a bit bold to say they’re just dying off. Someone ought to tell them that they’re strictly Minnesota Moose and not allowed to cross the border.
A moose once bit my sister.
No, your sister said “goose”....
Plenty of moose here in Vermont and in Maine.
I’ve seen a fair number wandering around over the past few years. In fact, last winter I saw one in someone’s back yard right in downtown Montpelier.
Ironically, I just saw a Moose cow and calf three weeks ago along the river north of where I live in a place where moose are rare, in a summer that almost wasn’t summer it was so cool. Beware the academic bullcrap factor. `

Cheese, check.

Sister?
MINNISOTA WOLF polulation Grows!!!!

The difference between Maine’s moose population and that of Minnesota is that there are bunches of wolves in Minnesota, and not in Maine. Wolves are a constant threat to their prey stressing them and making more likely to succumb to other problems.
40 plus years ago, growing up in central minnesoda, we used to see them on the farm once and awhile.
then I-94 came thru .. and power lines
Stop asking questions and just accept it.
We recently had one wandering the ravines in my neighborhood not far from the Burlington Airport.
Hello,
The animal world is ahead of us. The moose may have migrated to a better location.
Other signs of possible global cooling
Lost of bees
Bison leaving Yellowstone Nat. Park early for lower elevations.
More Bear sightings in Wis.
Buck dear taking on Doe characteristics in Kodiak, Alaska
This is pointing to a sunspot min. And maybe a new mini ice age.
The world of man is behind the eight ball due too global warming alarmists.
This may be a difficult time for many of souls.
Last winter my wife ran into a mother moose and her calf up close and personal, right in our pasture. She thought it best to just stand still until they decided to move on. Moving closer or backing off might give the wrong signal.
More global warming B.S.!! Every time I see this kind of garbage I want to puke.
it is easy to see how global warming hustlers have convinced so many people that climate change is caused by humans. They just hammer that filthy lie constantly from every direction. “Special advisory committee” is just one more front for the Marxists who push this effort to financially destroy America.
“Researchers said they weren’t sure why the animal is struggling more in Minnesota than elsewhere and more study is needed.”
But, we can be sure that whatever the study shows, they’ll blame it on global warming.
yup because the consensus is that man made global warming is a fact!
Good point!

Hmm wonder what they’re eating??
:-)
And a lot of the doe tag options are gone for deer hunters this year too, although it’s more extreme in the southern half of the state. Still, there aren’t as many bonus permits being issued in areas that used to have FAR too many deer. Near Staples MN we used to be able to take 1 either sex with a regular firearms license, and then buy up to four more antlerless tags right over the counter, no lottery. I think it’s down to 1 or 2 bonuses this year. (didn’t look too close because I’m not going up there.) No antlerless tags except for a youth lottery in our home area.
I have a sister...
Yeah it’s funny that if animal populations come and go it’s not ok, but if people disappear, somehow they aren’t a part of ‘nature’ working out the population balance.
er if people cause them to disappear...
> The polar bears must be moving south.
lol
White tailed deer aren’t really native up here in the north. The moose, wolf, ruffed grouse, and snowshoe hares are.
Although I don’t know any wolf that would complain about the abundance of white tailed deer, native or non native
