Clinton says 2010 elections won't be as bad as '94
Associated Press ^ | Sept. 27, 2009

Posted on 09/27/2009 11:07:48 AM PDT by Free ThinkerNY

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former President Bill Clinton predicts that Democrats won't suffer the kind of political meltdown that hobbled his administration after the 1994 elections.

Democrats lost control of the House for the first time in 40 years after those elections. Republicans are forecasting that kind of backlash next year against the Democrats.

Clinton suggests that's wishful thinking by the GOP.

That’s good news.Taking actual control of either house next year would play right into Hussein’s hands....as it played into Billy Bob’s hands in ‘94.Getting close to parity in both houses would render Hussein impotent...which is the best thing we can hope for.

God willing they will be far worse, but I doubt the Dems will lose Congress simply because once again the GOP leadership is complacent and believes people will just vote for them because they are there.

This Obama-worshiping reporter from the AP is full of it. WHO AMONG THE REPUBLICANS IS PREDICTING WE'LL TAKE CONTROL?? WHO?????? I WANT NAMES.

The fact is, conservatives are nearly as pissed off at Republicans as they are Democrats. They're different degrees of big government clowns.

Obama is JOKER in chief, yes, but we Constitutionalists are also irritated with the McLames, Grayed Hams, and Chuckles Crists....liberals in our midst.

I haven't seen any serious predictions of a Republican takeover of Congress.

This looks like AP idiots saying this, so that when the Democrats still keep control, they can run headlines saying "PUBLIC STILL TRUSTS DEMOCRATS".

The Democrats are going to do everything they can to keep power. I just received a "push poll" for a Democrat County Sheriff. The person I spoke to continued to discredit the Republican candidate and then asked me how I was going to vote. I told her that even the truth can be skewed in such a way as to make a good person look bad or a bad person look good.

The Democrats are going to be spending lots and lots of money via ACORN to discredit Republicans even at the local level.

We need to wake up our neighbors and friends to just what will be happening in the next year.

Naaah
It's Clinton who is doing the wishful thinking. He needs to look at the polls for 2010. If Chris Dodd and Dingy Harry Reed are so far behind their Republican opponents, which Democrat is safe?

The GOP would regain the House if they dump Boehner and make Mike Pence Republican Leader.
Republicans are incapable of capitalizing on the Democrats' troubles so long as the directionless Boehner is steering the rudderless GOP ship.

No on knows what Republicans stand for still, with Boehner at the helm. They would know if the GOP was lead by Mike Pence, though. Mike Pence knows where he wants to take the GOP. John Boehner just wants to go to the tanning salon and on another taxpayer funded junket.

He’s completely correct, of course... In fact, the Slavery Party will add 1-2 Senate seats and 12-15 more House seats! After all, ACORN got the last election right, and has cemented their effects. Doesn’t matter if they go away, the fake voters are in and “confirmed” by their voting in 2008.

The republicans would have to take 40 seats to regain control of the House. About 3 weeks ago Michael Barone predicted a possible two dozen seat in danger for the Dem.

I am predicting Democrat gains in both house simply because the GOP is so weak and anemic. It simply is not playing offense. How do they expect to win if they do not play offense?

The GOP needs to go the way of Joe Wilson, minus the apologizing.

Must have had ACORN stockpiling bogus votes left over from the ‘08 elections, so the surplus will carry the Rats to victory next year.

This is what I'm afraid of. Reid, et al, wouldn't be so gung-ho to pass the health care bill if he wasn't so sure of reelection. I wouldn't count ACORN out though. They may reform under a different name.

2010 will be an interesting election. Economic conditions will be worse for the Democrats than in ‘94. The general disposition toward Democrats looks to be about as poor as in ‘94. On the other hand, the public doesn’t think much of Republicans just now. Republicans might get the House by default. They’d improve their chances if they took meaningful steps to overcome the actions that caused them to lose their majority. Those things are excessive spending, corruption and pumping up the role of federal government in social matters such as Terry Schiavo. The Flordia courts made a big mistake in handling of that case. But it isn’t up to the federal government to inject itself into every big mistake that a state makes. Republicans made themselves look like the party of overweening, intrusive big government.

If the GOP really won’t ever successfully get rid of all of its RINOs from the party, then Bill Clinton will be correct. RINOs agree with leftists too often on many issues, and their ongoing existence from within the GOP will probably kill the entire party at some given point in the future. The other problem for both the GOP in general and conservatives in general is this: What good is it to elect GOP candidates and conservative candidates when all past, present, and future leftist legislation that already exists as law really can’t be either successfully undone or successfully made to be pro-conservative for always?

I’m steaming...Has this blind man not noticed that a Marxist has taken over the White House and the Far Left Newspapers (meaning all the major media newspapers) have made very little fuss about it; or that the Far Far left has used Acorn to fraudulently elect their shameless Democrat friends ?...This is just unbelievable, but then i blame Pres. Clinkstone for really bringing the ‘Politics of Hate’ to the WH and Dimrat Party..He hated Reps, had no use for them, didn’t understand them, made no attempt to understand. and would have gone far left if the Reps hadn’t pulled him kicking and screaming back to the center...What bums these Dems are...absolutely shameful, disgraceful and full of hatred for America, our Constitution, for God, family values, for anything that was radical because it makes their blood run faster like an adrenaline rush...The Reps had better rip the Dems in 2010, starting now in Congress, and continuing all the way through...Maybe the ‘Rats lost their way and their moral compass but the good American has not...
