Birthers aren’t conservative, they’re just nutty
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | September 26, 2009 | Jay Bookman

...Can we all agree, or mostly agree, that the full-blown birthers are nuts?

They aren’t conservative, they aren’t Republican, and they don’t tell us anything about conservatives or Republicans in general. They’re just nuts, but they’re nuts in a very special, entertaining and almost endearing way...

Sounds about like him— he’s become, well, progressively more liberal since Rathergate, and from what I can tell has completely sold out his conservative audience so he can play bully pulpit about evolution and the “birthers.” Heck, he even posted a message of support for Obama on Election Day last year.

RE :”But people who believe that George Bush took down the twin towers with bombs in the basement are just seeking the truth”

No, liberal MSM media ignored that theme the same as FNC ignores the birthers. Try to get elected republicans to sign a birther petition just like Van Jones signed the 9/11ers petition. Van Jones had to quit when that came out.

Birthers make this site look nutty too.

Sure, I'll agree we're nuts - the very same day obama's full, true, and legal birth certificate is made public. Of course, that assumes we "birthers" are wrong and that obama's full, real, birth certificate says he is who he claims to be. If that is the case (ha!) I'll agree we had a touch of collective insanity, maybe brought on by the socialist/fascist onslaught from DC. But until that day, we are patriots, seriously concerned with the rule of law.

Even if obama is a natural born citizen (I have serious doubts), there has got to be some other legal or serious public-image problem with the information on his birth certificate. Why else would he spend 1.4 million (roughly, to date) via an international law firm to keep records of his birth and youth private? Published statements from obama supporters claim both to have seen his real long-form Hawaii birth certificate, and that no such long form exists (having been destroyed years ago). Obviously someone is lying, someone is covering up. The whole mess needs to be brought out into the light, made public, and resolved. Until then, obama can not claim to be running an honest, "transparent" administration.

More from the Obama apologist author...

Even an Obama speech to children sets off partisan outrage

7:23 am September 3, 2009, by Jay

So we’ve come to this?

The president of the United States can’t speak to the children of the United States about the importance of staying in school, working hard and getting a degree without inciting political outrage?

Really?

The speech is set for Tuesday, and will be broadcast via the web to schools all around the country.
But as the Christian Science Monitor points out, the right is all aflutter:

If so, why can't Obama?

If not, why not?

a) He lost it.

b) He never had one.

c) He doesn't want to produce it so as to keep the "Birthers" looking nutty.

The whole idea of removing a sitting and first AA president based on where he was born is a great way to like like irrational racist haters. That’s why MSNBC talks about birthers every day.

They are also phonies in their constitutional purist argument, if it was a republican, they (R birthers) would call the (d) birthers undemocratic.

Bush dealt with controversy about various aspects of his record by simply making them public. Why can’t Obama do the same?

The constitutional purist argument is crap, how many white republican presidents did you try to unseat to defend the constitution? Could you post links to those comments? I am sure you purists all were outraged over Bush vs Gore!

"Can we all agree, or mostly agree, that the full-blown birthers are nuts?"

Nope. What you can do however, is explain why you think Obama is above providing proof of being a American born citizen, as we all are required to do at one time or another, by simply producing our birth certificate.

Perhaps you could explain why Obama has spent over a million dollars resisting demands that he produce his original long form birth certificate, when producing it takes 5 mins and makes the question go away.

If anyone is nuts, it's those who make all sorts of excuses why Obama shouldn't have to satisfy this constitutional requirement that he be a American born citizen, by proving it.

Nutty.. really.. Barry and his mother had Indonesian citizenship... when she was married to that Sotoro guy.. WHEN did they become American citizens again???... This question is never asked or answered... EVER..

This one has been answered, but maybe you haven't come across those threads.

A child who is a US citizen can't lose citizenship based on what parents do. Parents can't renounce citizenship on behalf of the child. From the linked State Department page:

A person wishing to renounce his or her U.S. citizenship must voluntarily and with intent to relinquish U.S. citizenship: 1. appear in person before a U.S. consular or diplomatic officer, 2. in a foreign country (normally at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate); and 3. sign an oath of renunciation

Renunciations that do not meet the conditions described above have no legal effect....

Parents cannot renounce U.S. citizenship on behalf of their minor children. Before an oath of renunciation will be administered under Section 349(a)(5) of the INA, a person under the age of eighteen must convince a U.S. diplomatic or consular officer that he/she fully understands the nature and consequences of the oath of renunciation, is not subject to duress or undue influence, and is voluntarily seeking to renounce his/her U.S. citizenship.

This is actually good news if it sticks. If Obama turns out to have been eligible all along, conservatives and Republicans are off the hook according to the author.

If Obama turns out to not be eligible, birthers will look very good and conservatives, Republicans and all of America will benefit.

Win-win.
