This was conservatives seething summer of discontent and unhinged hysteria: town halls, tea parties and tirades. They captured headlines and gained momentum. Misinformation ran amuck. President Obamas approval ratings tumbled. Through it all, Obama maintained a Pollyannaish, laissez-faire disposition. Some found this worrisome. Others, like me, even thought it weak. But maybe not so fast...

Charles M. Blow really does!
NYTimes can call us names all day long. But that healthcare rationing isn’t passed yet, eh? Neither will Cap and Tax...
His name is either intentially, or accidentally, perfect.
Not us all. Only the ones that voted for him and/or support his policies.
Seems to me that little has changed on the legislative front. Obozo is mired deeper than ever before.
This writer is trying to convince himself that Obozo has us right where he wants us.
Is Charles the minority representative the times hired after they had to let the other minority article fabricating ‘reporter’ go?
He’s still got a job at NYT. He may be one of 10 persons left in the building for all we know. But it doesn’t matter. Obama will never fail in their eyes. They’ll defend him to the bitter end.
The ObamaComs have been doing a lot of whistling past the graveyard this week. They’re having a very bad year.
A 3-legged gerbil could outsmart the entire staff of the NY Times.
He’ll be proven right ONLY if Obama can call Pelosi and Reid on the carpet and tell them, “I don’t care about the protests, townhalls, and whether or not you and your fellow Democrats get re-elected, I want this done, now go do it”.
They have the votes.
If Obamacare, Cap and Tax and all the rest don’t pass, it’s only because the Democrats failed.
LOL! You didn't, by chance, have anything to do with that did you Laz?
LOL!
...and if any of it does pass, they’ll be defending Obama for the new depths that the country falls to.
To the Times:
No but he has outsmarted you.

Brother of Joe . . . Joe Blow. . . one of the Blow Brothers . . . they married the Hard sisters . . . took their name in hyphenated form Blow-Hard . . .
haha
wow, they really are the dead media.
don’t you just love these “conservatives” they find for their pages?
Push polling.
“Even his adversaries praise him.”
...and this sucker Blow thinks that’s a good thing! lol
Maybe he can explain to us how you add 40-50 million people to health are rolls and not increase the number of doctors and nurses and still claim lines will no be longer and service will remain the same..
Absurd, desperate, and poorly written piece.
Appropriate for the NY Times.
Zer0 is so freakin smart he can't even pass his "health care reform" bill when he and the dems have total control of congress.
Only in lib land can that be considered smart, yeesh
Heard another loony BO brother call into Levin last night that said the same thing....I’m thinking this is another spin from the BO Dummies!
more worthless polls.
No.
He has outsmarted himself.
This guy is on the White House staff.
Can you guess with his JOB is??
Is it any wonder that no one buys the Slimes. Charles M. Blow is not only blowing smoke he’s blowing wind.
God is supposed to be perfect afterall /sarcasm
It’s as if Blow asked himself, “How much irrelevant data can I smash together in one column to convince myself that Obama is still doing OK?”
Then he he wrote this column.
"About ten o'clock I bade adieu to Mount Vernon, to private life, and to domestic felicity; and with a mind oppressed with more anxious and painful sensations, than I have words to express, set out for New York - with the best disposition to render service to my country in obedience to its call, but with less hope of answering its expectations."
Such a leader has no arrogance of power or desire to "outsmart" the citizenry, only a humility and recognition of the need for the aid of "Divine Providence," as Washington put it, in being placed in the role of defending liberty.
John Quincy Adams, in the same Address, put the Presidency in perspective when he said:
"The President himself is no more than a representative of public opinion at the time of his election; and as public opinion is subject to great and frequent fluctuations, he must accommodate his policy to them; or the people will speedily give him a successor; or either House of Congress will effectually control his power. It is thus, and in no other sense that the Constitution of the United States is democratic - for the government of our country, instead of a Democracy the most simple, is the most complicated government on the face of the globe."
NYT. The same people who looked at a million plus in Washington on 9/12, and declared that “thousands” showed up...
When I read stuff like this, I want to ask the author to please identify and describe Obama’s accomplishments. And a speech isn’t an accomplishment.
Yep he is super smart and he is playing this 50 dimensional chess game that we cannot comprehend (extreme sarcasm).
Yeah, and the Times is perfectly positioned for a comeback.
“Has President Obama outsmarted us all?”
What a joke, I’m still laughing.
Evidently an affirmative action reporter who still believes in the old “I meant to do that” line!
He is right no matter what happens. All of us know SOMETHING is going to pass, it will be socialistically based in concept, and gov't run.
This is why it is crucial in 2010 conservative's take control of the repub party and hopefully congress. However, my hopes are not high because the repubs are not chomping at the bit to remove the rino's...this is where our battle has to be won!
Obama is not a well read man. He has tunnel vision and is self absord. He couldn’t outsmart his way out of a paper bag. Everyone that thinks has his number.
He is predictable and acually is quite a “transparent” person.

Another Clymer at the NYSlimes
Well, his bias shows for sure:
The “most” he refers to, regarding “rude and disrespectful,” is only 53%...just very slightly but technically most.
And
He when he writes, “most of those who hold this view blame the opponents of the proposed legislation.”, the “most” he refers to is 59% of the above mentioned 53%...so that's only about 35% in all who think it has been rude and disrespectful because of opponents...as if that really is of concern anyhow...LOL.
This poor man needs to move beyond fables. Obama is no tortoise, nor a hare....he is Marxist anti-American death culture far leftist and his agenda to destroy America has failed.
One thing that can surely be garnered from the poll he mentions ( http://people-press.org/report/544/ ) is the fact that ones polled in this poll must most certainly not be watching Fox news...”Far fewer (22%) say they heard a lot about Van Jones, a White House green jobs adviser, resigning his post following controversy over his past comments and affiliations. More than a third (35%) says they heard a little about Jones resignation, while 41% say they heard nothing at all. Republicans (35%) were much more likely to say they heard a lot about this than Democrats (15%) or independents (23%).”
ROFL! Thanks for the chuckle.
The last chart is interesting. What if the question was “who gets the credit if health reform does not pass this year?”
Here’s to being rude and disrespectful!!!
We are not sheep.
I realize I should know better than to read the comments to an article like this in the NYT. The only thing more disturbing than the delusion exhibited by the author of the article is the collective ignorance shown by the communists who make comments.
