In just a few days, bills that were signed by Governor Brewer back in July will become law. The following are a few key pro-rights bills that will become effective after midnight on September 30, 2009.
Defensive Display Clarifies and codifies the defensive display of a firearm, such as: - exposing or displaying a firearm in a manner that a reasonable person would understand was meant to protect the person against another's use or attempted use of unlawful or deadly physical force - verbally informing another person that the person possesses or has available a firearm - placing the person's hand on a firearm while the firearm is contained in a pocket, purse or other means of containment or transport. Parking Lot Vehicle Firearm Storage Prevents any private or public employer, property owner, etc., from banning any person from keeping a firearm in a locked vehicle in a parking area on the property, with specific limited exceptions. ( http://www.azleg.gov/FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/legtext/49leg/1r/bills/sb1168h.htm )
Restaurant Carry CCW permit holders may carry concealed handguns in establishments that serve alcohol providing there is no signage prohibiting firearms and the person carrying the firearm does not consume alcohol. One of the reasons I moved to Arizona.
You’re quick. I just got the email a few minutes ago.
This is a good start. The restaurant carry ban has always bothered me. Why should I have to disarm just because an estaishment serves alcohol? IIRC Phoenix allows beer in parks. If you carried near a keg party in the park was that prohibited?
We are governed by jackasses. (No disrespect meant to actual jackasses.)
There will be blood in the streets when these take effect. The AZ body count will skyrocket. /s
When I moved out there in ‘85 one of the first things that caught my attention was the cowboy types wearing a sidearm. People from the east get a great sense of freedom upon their first visit to Arizona.
Can you put up a link to the AZCDL site? I’d do it but it’s difficult from my phone.
And, one of the reasons that this (tax-paying, property-owning) Native Californian is seriously considering moving to a second amendment-friendly state, such as Az (or others).
.
Good news in AZ ping.
Thanks, Dude.
The more members the better it will work.
I was just about to ping ya to this!
Great job and I’m a member!!
Thanks for the ping, I was quietly celebrating after I got their email, but much better with friends :0)
If you’ve never been to a gun store or show in AZ your eyes will bug out when you do.
I just had my nieces and their husbands out from Cali to visit in Tucson. I took them to Black Weapons Armory and Second Amendment Sports.
It took a few minutes for them to close their mouths in both stores.
Freedom is returning in small pieces in AZ but disappearing in huge chunks from DC.
At least we got this little bit for awhile.
Even if it did, it would only be temporary; the blood of illiterate thugs not realizing people can defend themselves again.
I was quiet this time because I knew it was coming.
Not so quiet when they were first signed. I made some noise and did a little happy dance then.
Yep, AZ doing what the Feds will not, by refusing to shut down our borders Arizona is now the kidnap capital of the world. This will help stave off crime from our illegal
problem.
Keeping more citizens armed in more places should help.
AZ is doing a few (not enough) other things to combat illegal aliens. I wish more local law enforcement would do what Maricopa County (Phoenix's county) Sheriff Joe Arpaio is doing.
He’s a good man. I believe his is an elected office. He just keeps on doing what’s right, ignoring the scurrying Rats, and getting reelected because of it.
Yes, he is elected. The libs hate it...they do everything to demonize him in the public square...then they try and mess with his funding. Mayor Phil Graham numero uno a$$-wad on that issue.
It’s going the other way in California, sadly.
There is AB 962, and if Arlen Schwarzenegger signs it, it will (Credit to Cabela’s for the following):
Ban all mail-order and Internet sales of handgun ammunition.
Prohibit the retail sale, the offer for sale or the display of handgun ammunition in a manner that allows ammunition to be accessible to a purchaser without assistance of a vendor or employee.
Require that the delivery or transfer of ownership of handgun ammunition occur in a face-to-face transaction, with the deliverer or transferor being provided bona fide
evidence of identity of the purchaser or other transferee.
That evidence of identity, which must be legibly recorded at the time of delivery, includes:
The right thumbprint of the purchaser or transferee.
The date of the sale or other transaction.
The purchaser’s or transferee’s driver’s license or other identification number and the state in which it was issued.
The brand, type and amount of ammunition sold or otherwise transferred.
The purchaser’s or transferee’s signature.
The name of the salesperson who processed the sale or other transaction.
The purchaser’s or transferee’s full residential address and telephone number.
The purchaser’s or transferee’s date of birth.
I saw a link here on FR to a site that showed which state constitutions codified RKBA. California was one of a very few that didn’t.
I grew up in Cudahy, Ca 90201 (about as far from 90210 as you can get) from 1960 -1989. I fled in the late ‘80s to AZ and have no desire to return.
Good luck in Mexifornia. I think it’s a lost cause and the last time I visited it looked like a foreign third world country. It has to be tough being a conservative there. I feel for you, FRiend.
We’re also working on a Constitutional Carry law that will eliminiate the need for a CCW permit within Arizona (much like Vermont is now). After it passes our state legislature and the governor signs it, anyone can carry concealed if he/she wants to, no permit will be necessary.
BTTT
Good. I have a CCW anyway..
