DA: No charges for Hofstra gang-rape accuser

The Hofstra University student who prosecutors say falsely accused five men of tying her up and gang-raping her in a dormitory bathroom will not face criminal charges as long as she admits she lied, gets psychological help and does 250 hours of community service, under an agreement she signed Friday with the Nassau County district attorney's office.

I read the argument for not punishing her severely and it made sense. It would discourage other false accusers from recanting.

I read that, too. But they need to strike a balance...those guys are burnt forever. Just wait until some HR person Googles any of them when they apply for jobs.
She only recanted because she was caught on tape. She’d still be lying but for that.

Its more important, in this case, that the innocent are protected than the guilty prosecuted.

OTOH, maybe frightening false accusers is the idea?

The suspects weren’t white, were they?
When the Central Park Jogger was in the hospital fighting for her life, Sharpton called her a “whore” and the black NYC newspapers published her name. In fact, some black “leaders” organized a mob of hate-filled blacks who went to the hospital and chanted her name over and over.
I didn’t post anything about this Hofstra thing myself—I wanted to wait and see—you never know.
I have a hard time being sympathetic for men involved in a 5 or 6 on one sex romp, even if it was consensual.
