Ann Geddes doesn't want a "fair and balanced" workout. But the 49-year-old worker for a nonprofit agency is having no luck getting the channel changed in front of her favorite rowing machine at a Columbia gym.
The television happens to be tuned permanently to Fox News. Geddes, a liberal Democrat and former legislative aide to a Howard County delegate, said she can't stomach the conservative lineup that appears nightly as she gets her exercise. Even though the sound is off, the words scrolling across the bottom of the screen infuriate her.

I found this online this morning. Another sterling example of the intolerance of the "party of tolerance."

Funny, that’s how I feel when I’m forced to watch CNN in the Atlanta (and just about any other) airport.

I'd up the pressure by turning on the closed captioning now.

Give her a real row boat.
With holes in it.

I feel the same way when I see ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, etc.

Columbia, nonprofit...why doesn’t she take a netbook computer with her so she can read the NYT 24/7?
Another humorless, perspectiveless, infantile liberal.

This is funny. She is “offended” by the words scrolling across the bottom of the news screen?
Maybe there shoid be a separate exercise room for liberals- showing endless loops of Teletubbies. For me torture is 3 hours stuck in an airport with CNN.

Wifey and I recently spent almost five weeks just driving around the country......I’d estimate that only just over half of the hotel/motel channel lineup had FOX - but 100% had CNN.

If she can focus that much energy on the television, she isn’t working hard enough on the rower. I do not understand why people feel they need the visual distraction of a TV or magazine when they’re exercising. Focus on your fricking workout for 45 minutes and you might actually start seeing some results...

Find another gym. Case closed. Or simply don't read it. I see thread titles here all the time that don't interest me, I skip right past them, it's not hard to not do something.
There's a liberal mind set at work here though, she doesn't want anyone else seeing it either. It would be like me asking the mods to remove all threads that don't interest me.
To: Sgt_Schultze
advice:
1. suck it up
2. Get an IPOD
3. Close your eyes
4. Stop exercising
5. Go to another gym
6. Learn tolerance
7. Open your mind to the truth!

She could easily solve the problem by putting videos of Dear Leader’s speeches on an I-pod or better still some anti-American speeches from the recent UN session. problem solved.

Yeah, she can pound sand and go home and eat a crap sandwich.
For years, we conservatives have been forced to watch the Chicken Noodle Network in airports, goobermint offices, doctor waiting rooms, etc etc etc.
Even in the years since Fox News has dominated the ratings, and CNN’s ratings are in the tank, many of these places still to this day, continue to run CNN.

Why does she want to watch TV while exercising? Just live in the moment, babe! Close your eyes and let your closed mind pretend you are out running in the woods.
To: livius
Here’s how to handle that:
Every time the news reader says ‘Obama’, yell out, “You lie!”
Or, take a drink.

I live in Howard County near Columbia too, Columbia is what ruined HC and is always votes for higher taxes, taxpayer paid housing (actually builds houses), and endless regulations.
I always turn both FNC and MSNBC and CNN on in the gyms I go to. (except weekends)

Some members of the YMCA in Ipswich, MA asked to have Fox News banned as well. “All of the exercise equipment face the TVs. With scrolling headlines and angry expressions, no one in the exercise room can ignore the programming on the TVs. Making a personal choice to not watch the TV is impossible.” from a letter written to the Ipswich Chronicle editor. Apparently, Fox News might brainwash people conflicted about the health care debate.(sarc)
