"We're seeing the natural consequences of unbridled corporate power to reduce wages and benefits. That's why people are working two jobs and still cannot afford food."
- Karen Nussbaum, a director with the AFL-CIO, as quoted by CNN in 2004.

We have to be the only country in the world where morbid obesity is a problem in the poor.
Will Rogers said Americans would be the first people to ride to the poorhouse in an automobile. So, poverty is a relative thing.
I read the line “Working two jobs but can’t afford food” and almost laughed at the pure silliness of it all. How long would a person have the energy to work “two” jobs without eating on a regular basis????
Then when you consider that poor people are more likely to be fat than wealthy people, it just shows the silliness even more.
I get it, too. Poor people become fat more often because food is one of the few luxuries they can enjoy regularly and food fills an unmet emotional need. Unlike a lover, food rarely, if ever, disappoints.
Whenever liberals talk about how little money the poor earn, they always fail to mention the myriad of govt. benefits they get that the rest of us don’t:
Subsidized housing
Food Stamps
Earned Income Tax Credit
“Free” medical treatment
Just to name a few.
We import millions of poor into this nation, as a result, there will always be new legions of poor to replenish the statistic.
Some workers wire billions back to their homelands. I suspect that at last some then apply for assistence.
Can’t be so poor if you have money to send out of the country.
Leftists just use “poor” people as human shields while they take your stuff.
I have to disagree.
We get them to: to PAY for them!

I wonder what a graph on taxes at all levels of government as a percent of income would look like.
Should be pretty easy to make. Take that graph. Turn it upside down. There you go!
