Police say a 17 year old and 22 year old were shot and killed during an attempted home invasion. It happened in Indianola last night.
Officers say two men, armed with a shotgun, entered the home. They were dropped off by a third person.
Police say the two men attacked the homeowner who is a retired police officer. He suffered cuts. Police say the homeowner's wife showed the men were the safe was. That's when police say the retired officer grabbed a gun and shot and killed the 17 and 22 year old. Both were killed. A third person was arrested outside the home.
“That’s when police say the retired officer grabbed a gun and shot and killed the 17 and 22 year old. Both were killed.”
Little redundant there
Good news.
Looks like death is quite the occupational hazard for home invaders. Good.
Journalism FAIL! Where the HELL are the editors?
Officers say two men, armed with a shotgun...
So two guys holding one shotgun... got it so far...
That's when police say the retired officer grabbed a gun and shot and killed the 17 and 22 year old. Both were killed.
They were killed TWICE! WOW!
The title should be “2 Home Invaders Killed in Vermilion Co.”
Good shooting.
I think this automatic death sentence for home invaders would be a good deterrent if we could implement it countrywide..
Retired cop saved the county hundreds of thousands. Should get a bonus.
An early afternoon day brightner...thanks for posting.
Not to mention, “...showed the men were the safe was.”
A love a happy ending
OMFG! I missed that one! My late grammar teacher is rolling in his grave!
Given that the ages of the perps were 17 and 22, I'm surprised the paper didn't say, "Child, Youth Killed in Home Invasion."
The homeowner must have determined it was a 'hate crime'.
That would call for killing twice.
Some points are worth making twice :)
Good news bears repeating. Grin.
I’m envisioning some type human powered self propelled gun here...one guy is manning it and the other (probably the teen) has it over one of his shoulders acting as the platform. Mobile gun platform, automated shield(without the cumbersome burden and cost of a real shield), and distraction device in one. Why haven’t any SWAT teams thought of this?
And to the story in general...good. Nice shooting.
If I show you where the safe is I have to kill you!
LOL!
I love a happy ending.

Wow, after reading that much improved(yet also lacking, no mention of him being a former cop) account, I have to say what a clever and brave lady his wife is. I’d also suspect that the only reason the savages got him down on the floor was because he’s a retired police officer. I hope in the future he carries at all times...and the same for his wife.
Some good news for the day, thanks!
I bet they were killed dead too!
Those two things are bound to collide. And such trends are fueled by a general lack of moral character in the population; less inclination to follow the law and more inclined to do harm.
Another observation: In this fashion, private citizens are being forced by necessity to do the job that the law and the so-called "Justice System" won't do, and that's give some of these goblins the dirt nap required. It's a terrible thing to say. And the good guy doesn't always win.
How about "2 Home Invaders killed...."?
Nah, the editors want the headline readers to assume the victims were the homeowners.
(ahem) I thought you weren't suppose to start a sentence or title with a number.
This would be correct IMO: Two Home Invaders Killed In Vermillion County Incident
Sweet! Too bad guy 3 didn’t come in to check on the others two.
Much better article. The perps showed up with ropes. This was going to end bad one way or another. Fortunately, it ended bad for the perps.
That would be the wheel man.
Be Ever vigilant!
How about..."Two Vermin Killed in Vermilion Co?"
“The suspects were very seriously killed during the encounter. “
LOL!
Two MEN? One was only 17. I thought 17 year old criminals were just “children” who don’t deserve to be severely punished and must be spared the death penalty even after committing heinous murders??
I did a review of all of the articles from 2009 on Dave Lone Ranger’s Citizen’s Self Defense blog page, in order to compile some stats for him. The number of articles where basic information was ambiguous or completely missing was staggering.
This should not be surprising. About the only industry not having buyer problems since 0b0z0 was eleced, has been the personal protection industry ~ guns and ammo.
History often repeats itself, during hard economic times there are more robberies, breakins and even daytime hot breakins of homes.
My wife watches the local Fox New Station for weather and what is happening. The station covers Gay Frisco and the surrounding counties. She turned it off this morning due to the robbery reports, assaults, street shootings that were being reported.
As budget cuts reduce the number of police and sheriffs available for duty and calls, these breakins will continue.
Some off our younger male relatives in the Bay area and other areas are buying handgun safes that can be opened with their fingers or punching the last # of a code. One has one of these that stays by his chair during the evening and goes to his bedroom at night. He is using my Grandparents old trick of putting a shotgun up on pegs above the door in a closet. 911 calls in his area take a minimum of 15 minutes to get cops on property.
The city of Vallejo basically closes down its cop force firemen force at night and begs cops and firemen from Benicia and American Canyon as well as fire depts to help in emergency calls.
Another younger relative with friends in rural areas of Oregon have learned in some large counties maybe one sheriff’s deputy is available or on call. Basically the people in those areas have been to told buy personal defense weapons and learn how to use them as it might be several hours before a deputy can respond to a 911 call.
Dr John Lott addressed how to handle this problem with his great book, More Guns, Less Crime.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/More_Guns,_Less_Crime
More Guns, Less Crime is a book by John Lott that examines how violent crime rates change when states pass “shall issue” concealed carry laws. He presents the results of his statistical analysis of crime data for every county in the United States during 18 years from 1977 to 1994. The book expands on an earlier study published in 1997 by Lott and his co-author David Mustard in The Journal of Legal Studies.[1]
Lott also examines the effects of gun control laws, including the Brady Law.
Sadly, this happened in Illinois. The homeowner is a retired police officer so everything is OK. If the homeowner had been one of us common folk he would be in jail right now for shooting those “poor youths . . .”
Ya think OBAMBI will have Eric investigate??
Couple of bad things happened here.
These folks home got seriously messed up.
And I’m sure the ex cops wife was a little shaken.
In a case like this is is wrong to grab each dead guy and drag them outside so they don’t mess the place up any more than necessary?
Since I posted my reply earlier re firearm and ammo sales, pissant has posted this article/oped from the WSJ:

Firearms, Ammunition See Explosive Sales Growth

While a remarkable surge that began late last year is starting to ease, Americans’ demand for firearms and ammunition - driven largely by economic concerns and the fear of new regulations - remains brisk as double-digit sales increases continue to fill the financial coffers of gun and ammo makers alike.
In August, the number of background checks performed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Instant Criminal Background Check System was up 12.3% from the same month in 2008 to about 1.1 million.
That is down from the nearly 42% increase of November but is still a growth rate that would be the envy of virtually every other consumer product category.
The driver will likely be charged with 2 counts of murder.
Some of them soulless sumbitches need to be kilt twice.
