STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Penn State University said the body of a missing student has been found at the bottom of a stairwell about 75 yards from where he was last seen alive.
The university said tonight that 18-year-old freshman Joseph Dado, of Latrobe, was found dead at about 6 p.m. at the Hosler Building. University police said it looks like Mr. Dado fell about 15 feet to the concrete below.

Every year the kids leaves the nest and something like this happens.
Prayers for the family and friends. Heartbreaking.
how did it take so long to find this kid? does no one use that stairwell?
I did some foolish things in stairwells when I was 18. Fortunately, I hadn’t been drinking when doing them.
Very sad. Way too young to die.
That’s what I was wondering. And apparently people reported where they last saw him and then no one checked there?
exactly. begin where he was last seen and walk in an ever expanding spiral out.
very sad
pledge time at the frat houses and the booze was flowing-maybe the greeks will wise up and not let another young person walk out alone, deathly impaired
Mr. Dado was last seen alive leaving the Phi Gamma Delta house around 3 a.m. Sunday.
RIP for the young soul.
All too sad. Seems no matter how many warnings re the perils of drinking too much - and so ver much - it still is a ‘happening’ out there; and it is not taken seriously. Prayers for this boy lost; and his family.
Is there a right age to die?
We should be happy for him, he's in a better place- hopefully, unless he wasn't a very good Christian.
Just goes to show that you never know when your ticket is going to be punched, so you don't have the luxury of "being a good Christian" later on when it's more convenient.
But, If he was a good Christian and walked on the narrow and difficult path the lord set out for us, he is very fortunate that he does not have to go through a lifetime of slavery, toiling only to have your earnings stolen from you and divided up among lazy pagans and corrupt overlords.
FWIW, just because he was found there, that doesn't necessarily mean he died there.
Perhaps few use it:]
But a state police helicopter search Monday afternoon and foot searches conducted by police, friends and family turned up nothing until a worker from the Office of Physical Plant was called to Hosler Building to repair a broken pipe. Dado was found on concrete near the mechanical room entrance in an area, Sims said, where you just wouldnt go.
Indications at the scene showed Dado may have been trying to climb something, Sims said.
A misstep is all it takes, Sims told students.

Someone from Penn State posted this:
Yes, it is a stairwell in a fenced-off area only used by OPP maintenance people when needed in a small gap between sections of two buildings.

Mr. Dado was last seen alive leaving the Phi Gamma Delta house around 3 a.m. Sunday.
The university said tonight that 18-year-old freshman Joseph Dado, of Latrobe, was found dead at about 6 p.m. at the Hosler Building.
Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) is located right across the street from Hosler Building.
FIJI is also the frat whose members include many of the football players.
It would be my educated guess that, if Mr. Dado was last seen leaving FIJI at 3 a.m. Sunday morning, he was probably already stumbling down drunk when he crossed the street.
I don't know why he would go to Hosler, other than to take a short-cut to get downtown.
All the bars close at 2 a.m., so he was either headed somewhere to get something to eat, or going to somebody's downtown apartment or perhaps even on his way to a different frat.
How he suffered a 15' fall onto concrete at Hosler is a mystery.
But with no classes on Sunday, it's not entirely unimaginable that he wouldn't be found until 6 p.m.
.
It's a very sad and tragic story.
My prayers for the family.
A very sad story.
Always too much alcohol at Penn State. It is a party school.
Condolences to the family.
Coroner: Dado's death was an accident
By Collegian staff writers
A Penn State freshman found dead on west campus last night died from an accidental fall, Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said.
Joseph Dado, 18, of Latrobe, fell off a ledge between the Hosler and Steidle buildings and died as a result of head trauma, Sayers said. A toxicology report is still pending.
Dado, 18, of Latrobe, was last seen leaving Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity, 319 N. Burrowes Road, alone at about 3 a.m. Sunday, the Penn State Police Department said.
Eric Hayes (freshman-engineering), who was with Dado that night, said Dado had been drinking alcohol but not enough to require medical attention. Neither university officials nor Sayers could confirm whether alcohol played a role in Dado's death.
After a extended search for the missing student, including search dogs and helicoptor support, Dado was found at about 6 p.m. Monday.
IOW, he didn't pass-out at the frat and have to have his stomach pumped.
Well, the frat is going to be in deep doo-doo anyway for serving alcohol to minors.
Poor kid. One dumb moment, and his life is over.
May he rest in peace.
RIP.
