I’m not advocating “direct interference”, but a much more direct message, delivered in public schools (as long as we have to have those abominations), and through the various handout systems that we can’t seem to get rid of. One is the example I gave previously — if somebody who is unable to pay their own hospital bill for a delivery (directly or via a completely privately-funded insurance policy), there should be no extra niceties like epidurals, and nobody should be afraid to tell the laboring mother “you can’t have it because you can’t pay for it” — she really needs to get a clue that she can’t afford to be having babies when she can’t even afford to pay her own bills. And to the extent that any female of childbearing age is receiving any kind of welfare, directly or via her parent(s), she should be required to have passive contraception installed — i.e. Norplant or IUD. Don’t like it? Then you don’t have to have it — it’s a free country — but then there will be no housing subsidy, no food stamps, no Medicaid, etc.
