'The Age of Stupid': a wakeup call on climate (hoax film fails to mention sunspots)

'The Age of Stupid': a wakeup call on climate
by Jerome Cartillier – 36 mins ago

PARIS (AFP) – Could we, the human race, really miss an ever-narrowing chance to save the planet from the ravages of global warming? "The Age of Stupid," which will be screened in hundreds of venues around the world next week, contemplates this grim scenario with the open aim of galvanising a collective effort to prevent it.

Former UN chief Kofi Annan is expected to attend a special "green carpet" showing in New York Monday, on the eve of the world's first United Nation's climate summit.

The film is a serious documentary dressed up as a futuristic climate thriller, with a few bits of animation thrown in to help explain the underlying science.

The story is told in the voice of an ageing archivist -- played by A-list British actor Pete Postlethwaite -- looking back from the year 2055 on a world devastated by climate catastrophe.

Ensconced in a sea-bound tower harbouring a complete digital record of human history, the sadder and wiser archivist pulls up image files that tell the story of real, flesh-and-blood people profiled by the filmmaker, Franny Armstrong.

"We could have saved ourselves, but we didn't. It's amazing. What state of mind were we in, to face extinction and simply shrug it off?", Postlethwaite's character says with a flash of anger.

Gazing back to our time, he details the lives of six people whose stories intersect with global warming in different ways: a dirt-poor, aspiring medical student from Nigeria's oil rich Niger Delta; a young business scion starting up India's third "low cost" airline; a pair of child refugees from the war in Iraq.

100 years from now, people will look back at all this panic about global warming and say, “That was the Age of Stupid”.

We know about the sunspots. They know about the sunspots. They deliberately chose to hide significant information that would prove them wrong. Typical leftist tactics.

The movie's modest 450,000-pound (500,000-euro, 735,000-dollar) budget was financed entirely through "crowd funding," explained Armstrong.

"It is a simple concept: basically, 228 people invested between 500 and 35,000 pounds, and they all own a percentage of the profit," she told AFP in a phone interview.

What a novel concept--perhaps we should call it "The Stock Market". Typical leftists--re-invent the wheel, give it a different name and pat themselves on the back. But it's not surprising--they've been doing the same thing with communism for decades.

Man is this some clap trap propaganda or what? Its got all the key ingredients “dirt poor” - check, “young successful polluter” - check, “ Iraq war child refugees” - check.

I’m sure the film makers bought “carbon credits” to cover their pollution. I’ll give the money grubbing “global warming” scam artist credit, They have successfully fooled a large percentage of people with their pseudo religion.

Pending our victory in the culture war. An alternative scenario might be: People will look back at all this panic about global warming and say, “Uhhh, uhhh...errr...uhhh”.

At least Obama would understand them.

I hope by then they will still be speaking English and will have corrected the title to “The Age of Stupidity”.

You can always tell when the Left is losing and argument. They get more and more hysteric.

So we go from the propaganda film “The day after tomorrow” to “An Inconvenient truth” to the “Age of Stupid”. What they going to call their next propaganda blast? “Wake up you Morons”?

'The Age of Stupid'
Very fitting title - it explains the globular warming cultists to a tee.

I notice that nowhere in the article does it mention:

To discount all of that, which are SCIENTIFIC FACTS. Yet 'they' will believe in some 'computer model' that can be made to spit out anything - except next week's weather - perfectly defines .... The Age of STOO-PID.

(1) Approx every 10,000 years.

For several years there’s been a pattern of Socialists and liberals retreating to a world of make-believe and pseudo-reality, where their hatreds and projections are coddled into some kind of fake truth, e.g., Bill Maher’s “Negs”; MoDo’s “You lied” fantasies; Jon Stewart’s fake news; Dan Rather’s “fake but true” documents. The list is long one.

And here we have “a serious documentary” that is not a documentary at all, but a fake documentary about something that hasn’t happened and won’t ever happen.

But for Socialists this is “real.”

Affirming once again that liberal Socialism is a mental disorder.

Great points, and might I add that many of the climate computer models (and the data) have demonstrably and repeatedly been proven by qualified scientists to be flawed, skewed, and inappropriate for the modeling to which they are applied, i.e., AGW.

In old days, the high-priests blamed poor weather and harvests on their people having offended their favorite gods. To atone, they would sacrifice something valuable, like virgins, to the gods.

We have not progressed from such superstition. Now, the high-priests claim we have offended Gaia with our energy-based prosperity, and must now sacrifice our economy to Gaia in order to atone.

That's true. The locations of the temp sensors (Thermomators) were all mostly found in the wrong locations. Locations that would 'naturally' give higher, 'false' readings

When I saw pics of those sensor locations my head almost exploded. They couldn't have tried harder to get incorrect Temp readings.

I've been in HVAC since 1970. I'm what's called a 'Practical Engineer'
(no BSME degree, all 'OJT'. quite common in the 'olden days')

I was talking to a French guy on Wednesday, I told him I thought human induced climate change was a scam and he preceded to accuse me of wanting to destroy the oceans and forests. How funny! The French coasts are polluted messes, especially in Bretagne (Brittany), and the French are behind the hardwood logging operations in Africa. It’s the famous French smokescreen at work again.

Yes, but the AGW cultists can (and do) “correct” and “normalize” for those anomalous datasets, of course meaning that the data are abstracted at least one level from actual reality *at the very outset*.

So you have bad data, normalized for “corrections”, processed by flawed and inappropriate modeling software.

This is the philosophical basis for the AGW cult.

And the reason we need Cap and Trade, now! /sarc

See, we're just not approaching AGW with the needed sincerity.
The AGW gods are looking for something more natural and authentic.

And not to worry, the AGW cultists are getting very, very
close to human sacrifice. I thought it might take another 50 years,
but is looks as if we're already there.

I know!

Let’s shoot some particles up into the sky like Obama’s commizar suggested, To Block The Sun!!!!!!

What a great idea!!!!!!

I’m sure many people in other countries will thank us for blocking their sun -— we only did it to save them from Stupid, right?

Yes, we’re in a strange era now when fairly intelligent people don’t do nearly enough objective research and jump to conclusions too soon and move into the activism phase before they know what they’re talking about. A lot of these far left-wing people have a short attention span and they’re mentally lazy and will not make the effort to thoroughly research any subject before they take a position. With all the great communications technology we have now, it’s so easy to start up a group and move into the activism phase, and of course activism is much more fun than the work of objectively analyzing scientific research papers. This is what happened with global warming theory, and the phD’s get the most blame because they should have known better.

Now the tide of research and scientific evidence is moving strongly against global warming theory as more objective, unbiased scientists join the debate, especially more scientists from developing countries. They’re joining the debate because they’re intellectually honest people and they want the prevent the economic disaster that would result from radical cap-and-trade legislation, such as the insane Waxman-Markey bill.

As I read the articles on global warming theory here at FR, I’m starting to think the whole theory will end up being proved to be completely false. Scientists will ultimately conclude that CO2 has zero impact on global temperatures, and the whole theory will be a big embarrassment to environmentalists. That is unfortunate in a way because there are some real environmental problems that we need to solve. For example, I would bet that some industrial chemicals in our environment are connected to the higher cancer rates in industrialized societies and those higher rates are not all caused by “high-fat diets.”

I predict that global warming theory will also end up being a great lesson for scientists in the importance of doing thorough objective research before moving into the more social, fun, ego-gratifying activism phase. You got to really know what you’re talking about before you start pushing the media and politicians with an activist agenda.
