A few days into their first tour, a young San Diego band met with tragedy, leaving two members in comas four days after the incident. In the aftermath, families are dealing with the consequences as a community rallies to support the victims.
The band, A City Serene, was travelling north on Interstate 5 near Bakersfield when a Ford truck lost control and smashed into the bands tour bus. Due to the seriousness of the injuries sustained, most of the band members dont remember the accident. But two remember really scary stuff, said band manager Billy Candler.

if any san diego freepers are into screamo or if you have kids who are into screamo, check out the benefit concert at soma on october 3rd at 7pm.
if you're not into screamo, please send some prayers and good thoughts for the full recovery of the band.
it's such a shame that this happened on their first foray into the wider world of touring.
That sucks.
Prayers up for them.
What is screamo?
an unfortunate genre of music popular among disillusioned urban youth. it’s usually noisy, discordant, and unvarying in rhythm and intensity. fans wear lots of black and hate their parents. like goth, but with less emphasis on death.
it’s terrible but generally harmless. most kids grow out of it eventually.
strangely enough, many screamo fans end up liking folk music.
Perfect description. I took the time to research and found the band ‘Comadre’ on Youtube. Ouch!
Nevertheless, I hope the members of ‘A City Serene’ recover. It sounds like a bad crash.
An offshoot of hardcore and midwestern emo “punk.”
Gravity Records documented a lot of it in San Diego in the late 90’s. DC, Delaware, OH and FL also have had screamo “scenes.”
Screamo is new to me.
