A South Carolina Bank of America branch is drawing criticism Thursday after an employee reportedly ordered the removal of American flags placed to honor a fallen Marine over fears that people would be offended.

Man... being a welfare queen that lives solely because of the forced generosity of the US taxpayer, you’d think BoA could be a little more patriotic.
Bank of where?
You can leave a comment at the site. I did.
Just wonderin'. My kid is stationed at Ft Jackson, so I kinda keep up with South Carolina goin' on's....
dump the bank
Bank of Arrogance
Admit it, lady, YOU were the only one offended by the U.S. flag. What garbarge.
Not to defend BoA but this is a local idiot, not corporate policy.
Crazy.
Dump the employee. Replace them with a vet
Crap... I see the headline that the manager DID order the removal.
A poster on the site mentioned that one branch’s flag pole has been ‘naked’ for two years. Incredible.
Dumped them a few years ago because of sorry customer service. I was so impressed yesterday to see hundreds, if not thousands of people lining the streets with American flags, saluting and shedding tears for one of our own. I’m so PROUD of my hometown
This was heavily discussed on talk radio this morning and I have to say it wasn’t clear to me that the lady (who had known this soldier since he was a child) was “preparing the route” for his procession. Even so, I think she should have first informed the businesses on the route before placing the flags. What I heard her say was that she put the flags down the street and came back to find the ones in front of the bank gone. I think the whole thing could have been avoided if she’d let people know what she was doing, and if the bank person had some sense. But people went nuts here, calling the bank saying they were gonna close their accounts etc. People I know did even though they were lying because they don’t have an account there. A couple of people gave the argument that because it’s the American flag you should basically be able to put it anywhere and anyone who says otherwise is unpatriotic scum. Which is a bit over the top. Usually if there is a special event, like a funeral route or parade or something, if you make businesses aware they don’t interfere.
I had to go to my CR when Reagan Died. The building was a large oil com. I pulled up to the building and they had the entire property lined with Giant American Flags. I started crying.
Whoever this disgusting Maager is he/she should be fired immediately.
If someone in America is offended by an American flag placed to honor a fallen Marine they need to the the hell out of my country.
Sure. This bothers me. I have to do business with these people, and I hear about stuff like this and more. Granted, I don’t know the whole story here, so I am going to wait and see.
But I will say this: Our POWs in North Vietnam risked DEATH by torture and beatings, just so they could put up a handmade American flag in secret and say the Pledge of Allegiance. They sewed that flag together out of little bits of cloth they found, and kept it carefully hidden. Each day at an appointed time, they took the flag out, put it on the wall and said The Pledge.
There are American citizens out there who are ashamed and afraid to even show the flag, and that doesn’t even count the ones who actively view it as a symbol of oppression and those who would simply rather burn it.
That bothers me a great deal.
One of the most refreshing and uplifting things about this past weekend in Washington DC was that there were at least two occasions (once in front of Walter Reed and once at the Free Republic banquet) where we said The Pledge of Allegiance, The Lord’s Prayer, Hail Mary and sang God Bless America.
They were said and sung unashamedly, with vigor and emotion. And the people who sang songs and spoke pledges and prayers knew the meaning of those things.
THAT is America.
Not Bank of America.
“Bank of America in hot water over SC flag flap”
You need to reword your heading.
It looks as if it is over the South Carolina flag.
Bank of America...now that’s funny.
I can HARDLY stand to read this garbage anymore. AMERICAN’s WAKE UP!!!!!!
If I lived in that town and did my banking there I would PULL MY ACCOUNT un-pronto!!!
As a native South Carolinian relocated to the land of fruits and nuts, I can honestly say I am amazed by this. They still fly the flag of the Confederacy in their state capitol, for Pete’s sake. This has to be a carpet bagger come to live there, bound and determined to change the ways of the South. I need my smelling salts, I think I have a case of the vapors.
Bank of obamia apparently.
The US Military installations overseas have a community banking system that is contracted to a US bank. They have no choice in full service banking and must use the comminity bank. The current contract bank is Bank of America.
This is disgusting.

In South Carolina? How sad!

Bank of America Announces Free Nationwide Remittance to Mexico
With all due respect, if the branch manager didn’t know why the flags were being placed, then she must have had her head buried in the sand. If she didn’t know, I’m sure someone at the bank would surely have informed her why they were being placed as the whole town knew about the procession. I think it’s a disgrace!
Also, I won’t lie and say that I will close my account, because our account was closed with them many moons ago, because of their crappy customer service and the whole deal with giving credit cards to illegals. What a joke!
Yep, they just keep adding to the list! Why anyone would be doing business with them at this point is beyond me!
Yeah, I was freeping from my PDA, and didn’t get the SC ping until after I pinged you.
The topic of the local talk radio show this morning. (WORD AM & FM)
Maybe they removed the flags because we have a black president.
Ooohhh...in your face, BOA
Excellent. Do your banking at a local bank.
In fairness, I have to tell y’all that the Bank of American on East Main Street in Spartanburg DOES have an American flag flying in front of its building.
I detest BOA. It doesn’t matter what it is, they don’t like the small people who are the one who support and pay their salaries.
