TEHRAN Gunmen shot dead a prominent Iranian cleric on Thursday in the northwest province of Kurdistan, the official IRNA news agency reported, in the latest attack to shake the region.
Mullah Mohammed Sheikh Olislam, who represents the province in Iran's top clerical body the Assembly of Experts, was shot twice in the head by unknown attackers at a mosque in Sanandaj, Kurdistan's main city.

‘Open Season’ has been declared on all Hardliners in Iran. Whether they are Clerics or Bazzari, with warehouses to burn as well.

It takes TWO bullets in the head to kill these guys. Anything worth shooting once is worth shooting twice. You want to make sure, you know.

From the article:
“An imam in Sanandaj, a Sunni Muslim seen as an ally of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was killed on Saturday by unknown assailants, media reported.
A judge from the city’s revolutionary court also survived an attack on September 9, IRNA said.”
Sounds like they were hardliners. But I find it odd that a SUNNI cleric would be an ally of Ahmadinejad.

Oh wait...that blurb was talking about a different guy, not this guy. Still though I assume he’s a hardliner because the others who were attacked/killed were hardliners as well. Just a guess though.

But I find it odd that a SUNNI cleric would be an ally of Ahmadinejad.Religion is just a pretense... Since the Kurds are Sunni, the regime needs also Sunni pawns to excert controll. Also think of Sunni HAMAS in Palestine. They have becom Mullah pawns as well. Indeed Ahmadinjad has also some fans in Christian Armenia (strong ties with Russia).

When is ramadan? Did this cleansing act fall within the official mandates? Just curious....Ramadan ends for the Sunnis on Saturday evening.
The Shia always have some Imam or something that has to look at the moon and announce it, but it should also end for them over the weekend.

Sounds like they were hardliners. But I find it odd that a SUNNI cleric would be an ally of Ahmadinejad. To survive as a Sunni in Iran, you had BETTER be buddies with whoever is in charge.
This is interesting. It looks like the resistance has realized that the "Gandhi/MLK" approach just DOES NOT WORK against a sufficiently ruthless opponent, and has adopted the "Battle of Algiers/Vietcong" approach.
