Santorum will consider running for president

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) said he would consider running for president in 2012, citing a changing political environment making President Obama seem more vulnerable.

"I think that it's something I would consider," Santorum said during a conference call Tuesday organized by the Republican National Committee (RNC). "But I think that's as far as I'm willing to go three years out."

Santorum at the head of a ticket? I don’t see it. But he’d be a great VP candidate, especially for purposes of advising President Palin about parliamentary methods and tactics.

As a former huge supporter of Rick (check my past postings) I urge him to forget this idea. He’s a good man but he’s got a political tin ear and trusted too many people he never should have.

Please stay out of the race Santorum. All of the 2008 candidates for the GOP nomination should also stay out of the race. We need a strong candidate so that Obummer is not reelected for another 4 years. We don’t need candidates that make people sleepy.

Santorum is far more popular in the rest of the country than he is in PA... most of the rest of the country didn’t see first hand some of the shady say one thing do another crap he pulled when he was a Senator here.

The RNC could do worse, but I don’t think he’ll make it as the candidate.

He's a very good man but he got stomped in his re-election bid in his home state running as an incumbent with a good record in the Senate. That seems to indicate he can't draw the votes, and that generally doesn't make for a strong candidate in a national election. From a political tactics viewpoint, it's probably the wrong move for him to run.

You must be joking. Santorum was STUPID enough to support Specter when it was demanded by Bush, thus throwing away his OWN senate seat by betraying conservatives in Pa. And he actually believes he could wind up in the white house? Sorry, Rick. Sell me out once, shame on YOU....you know the rest.

"He has done a hard left turn in order to try to get into the good graces of this president," Santorum said of Specter.

Wrong!

He was already far to the left when you and President Bush supported him against Pat Toomey.

Your history of pandering to the liberal wing of the party will not stand you in good stead if you decide to run for president. I might even put those other RINOs McCain and Guiliani ahead of you on my preference list.

On the other hand you should get along well with Michael Steele and Tom Ridge.

Since losing badly to Bob Casey Jr. in 2006, Santorum moved to Northern VA. If Santorum runs for President, then which state will Santorum declare to be his home state, PA or VA?

Methinks the purpose of a potential Santorum run is split the socially conservative to prevent Huckabee and Palin from winning and allowing Romney to slip to victory. Remember Santorum endrosed Romney in 2008.

He is not in PA any longer...he is a VA resident.

Way too much baggage; he did listen to the wrong people (he chose party over principle...and campaign for Arlen Specter—back when he was an R—over Santorum’s ideological twin, Pat Toomey...the same Pat Toomey who is up by 12 points over Specter right now).

Sorry, Rick. Maybe good for book sales (boy...doesn’t that scenario sound familiar) but not good for getting a Conservative in the White House.
