4 Men Arrested In Hofstra Rape Case
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Police say an 18-year-old Hofstra University student was gang-raped by five men on campus early Sunday morning.
Police have made four arrests and are looking for the fifth suspect.
Cops would not say whether the victim knew any of the men beforehand or where on the sprawling Hempstead campus she was attacked.
19-year-old Jesus Ortiz and 21-year-old Rondell Bedward, both of the Bronx were arraigned on rape charges on Monday. Ortiz also face grand larceny charges for allegedly stealing the woman's mobile phone.
19-year-old Stalin Felipe, of the Bronx, and 20-year-old Kevin Taveras, of Brentwood, Long Island were to be arraigned Tuesday in Hempstead.

I bet all of the suspects voted for Obama. Just sayin’...
The Amish strike again!
Hofstra sounds like a fine University./s
I noticed one is named Stalin. Wonder if he assumed it or if his parents named him.
18 year old victim. Her parents probably just dropped her off for her first week of college in the past few days.
If 95%+ of all voting blacks voted for 0bama, that is a VERY safe bet!
Looks like a hate crime to me...
Well...it’s racism to think it’s not the fault of the Woman./s
Hugh Christopher Newsom, Jr., 23, and Channon Gail Christian, 21, were a couple from Knoxville, Tennessee. They were both raped and murdered after being kidnapped early on the morning of January 7, 2007. Their vehicle had been carjacked. Five suspects were arrested and charged in the case. The grand jury indicted four of the suspects on counts of murder, robbery, kidnapping, rape and theft. One of those arrested, Letalvis D. Cobbins, was convicted on multiple charges including several counts of felony murder. Another has been convicted of federal charges as accessory after the fact to carjacking.
The national news media was criticized for allegedly ignoring the story because the victims were white and the suspects black. This criticism was also fueled by erroneous early reports of dismemberment and mutilations. Most of the original reports with misinformation (reported from a federal deputy after the suspects’ arrest in Kentucky) were later denied by the District Attorney.
One commentator explained that “as bad as this crime is, the apparent absence of any interest group involvement or any other ‘angle’ might also explain the lack of coverage.” Police Chief Sterling Owen IV said that there is no indication the crimes were racially motivated and that the murders and assault “appears to have been a random violent act.” “There is absolutely no proof of a hate crime,” said John Gill, special counsel to Knox County District Atty. Randy Nichols. “We know from our investigation that the people charged in this case were friends with white people, socialized with white people, dated white people. So not only is there no evidence of any racial animus, there’s evidence to the contrary.”
Some commentators have continued to disagree, claiming that such a crime would include a motive of racial hate. Conservative media, notably including blogger Michelle Malkin on her blog and on Fox News’s O’Reilly Factor program, have also repeated this accusation. Prior to the DA’s statement, Newsom’s mother sympathized with the “hate crime” position stating, “It may have started out as a carjacking, but what it developed into was blacks hating whites.” Christian’s father (addressing those who used his daughter’s death to suit their own agenda) appeared ambivalent, stating “[the crime] ain’t about you.”
Give them each a Roman pre-crucifixion scourging followed by a salt water bath.
But they should cut off their "equipment" just before the salt water bath. . .heavy on the salt.
Any guess on the race of the victim??
Wonder if these thugs received any special scholarships made available by Obama’s mess.
Too bad their mother’s didn’t believe in abortion.
That is terrible. Poor girl...she didn’t have a chance against those brutes.
Hofstra used to be a great school.
Now I suppose they have to accept the affirmative action drug dealer students now, just like we have to in most Pennsylvania colleges now.
It’s the only reason these affirmatvie action students are on campuses — to deal drugs. They attract other criminals to these beautiful campuses, and the usual crimes follow, including rape.
Well there is always retro-active abortions.
My husband and I were students at Hofstra in the 60’s. It was a wonderful campus. The neighboring towns and Hempstead, where the school is located ,have turned into cesspools.
So sad. Happening to so many of our formerly beautiful suburbs. Affirmative action, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac ACORN, portable welfare checks!
That’s why so many of my neighbors are heading to Montana!
The question is, did they get their SEIU cards revoked before ACORN fired them?
Watch this crime get ignored by MSM.
From Newsday on-line :
A woman in the courtroom who identified herself as Taveras’ mother but wouldn’t give her name said , “ He’s a good kid . I’m shocked . “
“good kid”...yeah, right.
I bet all four have single moms and were raised on food stamps paid for by the US taxpayer.
Hmm, there’s some subtle similarity here...
Any chance she was out partying with them, so she put herself in harm’s way? Not that this excuses assault. But if they went out and randomly attacked some innocent victim then the crime is even more heinous.
I bet you are right .
She was at a dance club on campus , and danced with one of the perps . He got her to go with him to a room where the gang proceeded to rape her . This is according to Newsday .
Speaking of scholarships - just the other day I read that the government wants to take over all the student loans. They currently write 20% but want to take over 100%. Don’t know if it’s true.
Hell , Long Island used to be a nice place in the 60’s ! Now everybody I knew that lived there has split or will as soon as they retire . I made the biggest move - I left the country and went to Japan where I still am .
