Gov. Rick Perry seems bent on establishing his Texas icon credos this week. First, he came down on the side of reestablishing the Bonfire at his alma mater, Texas A&M. Then he announced he's sent special teams of Texas Rangers to tackle problems on the border.
At a press conference, Perry said the "Ranger Recon" teams, supported by 200 Texas National Guard members, have been operating for a month in remote areas on the border where human smugglers and drug cartels have "overrun" local ranches and farms.

“One riot, one Ranger”
Medina is running against the Hair and the K. She has them scared.... Will look for her link....
What? Texas having to take immigration matters in to their own hands?
I thought that was the responsibility of the U.S. Federal Govt.
Why I can’t believe the feds aren’t taking care of this problem. Shocked, Yea I am shocked.
Sorry, Gov. Goodhair, but a handful of Rangers and a couple hundred Guard isn’t going to be a drop in the bucket, not to mention you should have stepped up border security a few terms ago. This last minute show for votes doesn’t sit well. Sure, you’ll get my vote only because KBH is a dingbat but know it’s not a vote of confidence.
Don’t think Medina has much of a chance. I didn’t vote for Perry last time but he seems like the better choice at this point. At least he’s putting action in motion—better late than never like the Federal Govt. failure to protect the borders as is their Constitutional duty!
Yes, that’s why we voted for session back in the 1860’s...because we’d been sending taxes to Washington and received no help to protect the border. The border raids were getting worse and worse...but of course we then got caught up in the civil war.
Yes, KBH has a huge political machine, but she votes more with the socialists than she does with conservatives.
The thought of having her as governor at this time, makes me wanna puke. Now is the time when we’re going to need somebody willing to lead a secession movement if we have to to kick Washington back to DC.
No country for old men.
As a Baylor Grad...
I like Perry better than whatshername.
That being said...
NO Sympathy for School (one of few, if any) that has to name and run down another school in their supposed “Fight Theme”.
It cannot go without notice that they are supposed to be a great engineering school. From their own records, it is inappropriate for them to attempt any structure intended to burn. While I am saddened by the loss of any life, the lives lost when aggie engineers were involved with this particular type of structure proves they are unable to meet the challenge.
NO to Perry on this matter.
