WASHINGTON Democratic leaders are planning a House vote early next week to admonish Republican Rep. Joe Wilson if he does not apologize on the House floor for yelling "You lie!" during President Barack Obama's health care address to Congress.
National attention from the heckling episode has money pouring into Wilson's campaign treasury and that of his 2010 Democratic challenger. Wilson had raised more than $700,000 since the incident as of Friday, according to the National Republican Congressional Committee. His opponent, Rob Miller, had received more than $1 million from 25,000 donors nationwide, said his campaign manager, Lindsay Zoeller.
Democratic leaders initially showed mixed interest in punishing Wilson. But they decided at a meeting late Thursday that they probably will propose a resolution of disapproval early next week if he doesn't apologize to Congress, said Brendan Daly, a spokesman for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
While not a formal censure or reprimand, the resolution, if passed as expected, would put Congress on record as condemning Wilson's conduct.
Wilson, who was criticized by Republicans and Democrats for his outburst, told Obama he was sorry shortly after the incident Wednesday night. But he has refused requests from both parties to apologize on the House floor. Wilson's office says the congressman considers his initial apology sufficient.

Fast-forward to about 45:50 to see it. And at 46:05, take careful note of who you see in the lower left corner of the frame.
Hint: he didn't vote "present" this time.
I wish Rush would do some fund matching on the donations pouring into Wilson.
What gets me are Senators wanting him to apologize. Thought McCain was out of line but SPECTER, the TRAITOR, was even more out of line.
If they start this, we need to do the same. We need to go after Pelosi for stuff she said about Bush, we need to go after Reid for calling Bush a liar, something he bragged about not apologizing for in an interview I heard repeated today. Let’s go after Ted Kennedy for all the crap he’s said about people. Let’s just start the same garbage and we’ll see who blinks first.
Count on McCain to always stab you in the back. We need to get his ass out of the senate with some conservative republican in Arizona. Man what a waste of space. Let him run as a democrat, he loves them anyway.
So what happened after the outbreaks of 2005 SOU?
What, do these people think we are all dumb Kenyans? Is that racist too?
Who gives a sh!t. Let em. He has more guts than the whole of the Republican party put together right now as far as I'm concerned.
The very fact that he is being flushed with donations is proof that people are ready to fight back and we need more Reps and Senators to show some backbone and do the same.
If we don't get behind this guy as a party, then the Republic really is going to die.
oh whatever.
this will give him the chance to explain why he said it.
we are ALL thinking it - like the poster who said, “I am Rep. Wilson” or some such... what a great post.
I am with you 100%! Time to retire him to spend more time with his family.
Joe Hurt them and they are trying to gain some credibility, they can go pound sand!
Do these morons not understand that we have access to tons of footage where they’re booing and disrespecting President Bush? And that includes 0bama doing it, too!!
Bring it on, Losers.
Will that be before or after Hillary Clinton apologies for calling Bush Hitler and the Republicans Nazis on the senate floor?
Joe Wilson, he should standup and clearly state based on this fact alone;
He is an elected American Representative, who was there being lied to. For he should say clearly without reservation while someone is lying or not telling the truth to the American public, he, Wilson, will not put up with it. He stands in between sneaks, cheats and liars to protect the American public for he has a duty and has taken an oath to protect.
The turn around and have a new conference detailing the matter!
Joe Wilson needs to stand up before them and say “Who do you think you people are? Murtha called our soldiers baby killers, Pelosi called fellow Americans Nazi’s, Reid called Bush a liar, .....” I can’t think of everything of the top of my head right now but hopefully fellow freepers will help me out here. I think I’ll send Joe an email after I gather some more quotes.
Further, it makes me sick how the Dems react to a challenge. Oh how dare anyone question, admonish, or criticize the “Messiah”.
Get used to it douchebags. Some of us aren’t going to let our country go down the tubes without a fight.
Sorry about the typos, here is a redo...

I think John needs more quality drinking time with Meghan.
Wilson’s 2008 ACU rating is 92% and his 2008 ADA rating is 10%.
He deserves our support.
Im so naive. I would think keeping hush money in a freezer (William Jefferson) or forgetting taxable homes and assets (Charlie Rangle) would cause an admonishment from the politicians before someone telling the truth about a liar. Go figure.
Excellent idea!
That is the equivalent of a battlefield citation for actions above and beyond the call of duty.
GW Bush 2006 SOTU address was in January 2006.
What am I missing?
Leave it to Nancy Pelosi to be possibly the first Speaker to sanction a Congressman for telling the truth.
Then I'd have it printed on T-Shirts and sell them to raise funds for my Senate run.
Maybe Obama can draft a strongly worded letter on the matter while he’s chairing the UN security council.
(mutters at self...)
There was a time in congress when disagreements were displayed in a more forceful manner......In the 1850's Preston Brooks broke his cane over the head of Charles Sumner.
It might not be a bad idea if Republican retuned to carrying canes though I doubt many of this current lot would have enough backbone to use it.
I believe it was 04'.
I’m sorry.....I did not read far enough down to see that you had answered your own question in post #31.
That's a promise.
Any chance we could dig Kennedy back up, drag him onto the house floor and have his family members apologize for a few things he said about President Bush, a real president?
I have donated generously to the GOP in past years. Not anymore. Until the GOP finds its spine, my contributions will go to individual conservative candidates who have the courage and voice to speak out boldly against the triumvirate of evil that controls the executive and legislative branches.
“He has more guts than the whole of the Republican party put together right now as far as I’m concerned.”
Hear! Hear! as they said in approval in the old days.
Ann Coulter just told Hannity about a point that a lawyer friend made to her....
If you allow one side of the aisle to cheer raucously and express support for the “resident’s” address to Congress, then it is only fair and just that the opposing side have the right to express their views as exuberantly.
Not a problem. I screwed the pooch on the initial question...(STILL muttering at self...)
And as they say even today at the PM’s weekly ‘’Question Time’’.
And, one doesn't have to carry the cane about.
Donate to the opponents of whoever votes in favor of the resolution, even if it means crossing party lines. We have to take out those who would rule us rather than represent us.
The Democrats can dish it out, but they can’t take it. I have difficulty taking these petty totalitarians seriously.
Badge.
Of.
Honor.
No kidding. Definite badge of honor.
You wouldn’t think they would be that eager to help Joe fill his campaign war chest, would you?
Idiots.

Or still pursuing dollars, yen or yap rai?
Just curious...
