A millionaire businessman is facing jail for attacking a career criminal who had held his family hostage at knifepoint.
Munir Hussain, 52, was told he would be killed when three raiders invaded his home.
He and his wife, their teenage daughter and two sons were ordered to lie on the floor of the living room with their hands behind their backs.
But the Hussains' teenage son managed to escape through a window and when the men realised that, two of them fled.
Hussain then threw a coffee table at the third man, 56-year-old Walid Salem, hitting him in the face. His older son Awais, 20, joined the fight and although Salem tried to escape he was bundled into a nearby garden.
Neighbours in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, then saw several men beating him with weapons including a cricket bat and a metal pole. He was left with injuries including a fractured skull and bruising on the brain.
Hussain denied attacking Salem, claiming it was a group of local youths. But a jury at Reading Crown Court found him guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.
His brother Tokeer, 35, was convicted on the same charge but the jury failed to reach a verdict on their nephew Wahleed Hussain, 20.
Judge John Reddihough freed the brothers on bail until October 9, but warned them that this did not mean they would not be jailed. The maximum sentence for GBH with intent is life.
A family member said last night: 'This is one more shocking blow for a man who thought he had suffered enough last September. We are absolutely devastated, it's hard to believe in justice any more.'
In a further twist, legal sources said Mr Salem would be eligible for criminal injury compensation -

This man #1 - doesn't deserve to have charges against him and #2 - didn't do enough.
Ya gotta laugh.
The attacker gets “criminal compensation “ !!!!!!
It is illegal to interfere with a criminal in the carrying out of his duties in the UK. I have said this before.
“But a jury at Reading Crown Court found him guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.”
I am never going to set foot in the UK again. That place is so damned upside-down, it’s never, ever going to recover.
The home owner should have killed the SOB. I almost want someone to break in my house while I’m home...
Criminals have workers comp in England and it is illegal to interfere with them while they are working.
The people of (once) Great Britain tolerate this though so it is hard to have sympathy I suppose.
Vigilantism has started and will continue to rise in the U.S. It will spark in Europe soon and will sweep the continent when it does. Justice is not being served in situations like this, and justice will not be denied in a society forever. When it comes from the bottom up, it is usually much bloodier and intemperate than when justice comes from the top, the way God intended.
The son of Kadaffi can live there but Geert Wilders can be kept out from visiting. Christian churches have Muslim prayer rooms and bans on crucifixes on necklaces while pools want some non-Muslim girls to cover from head to foot.
es, I’d say the UK is nearing the bottom of the toilet bowl its been swirling in.
That said, I think he showed considerable restraint and I too will never set foot in that God-forsaken country.
What Great Britain? Not a single British name was mentioned.
The victims and the criminal(s) are Moslems. Amazing!
Clearly, the Brits need to start killing the corrupt politicians that push this CRAP.
A question to ask Mr. Savage I believe.
Yes he should have. If someone breaks into my house they are going to have a very nasty encounter with Smith and Wesson and Me.

Best advice I ever got from a lawyer:
“The cops are going to interview two people: you and the dead guy. Your story should be more compelling.”
There will be some justice in the perps inability to get health care without a long wait.
I'm sorry sir, but that would be Asians, don't you know.
This is what happens in a country with no Glenn Beck.
I stand corrected! LOL
If it were in France, they would have been called youths (yoos!)
PC made English sound Chinese. (Also Asians, I believe.)
I keep a Glock 23 on my hip so I don't have to ruin a perfectly good coffee table.
Makes me wanna clean off my coffee table, just in case. Currently it has clutter on it, so would be hard to use as a weapon. And I don’t have a holster.
Always make sure the perp is dead.
FUBAR.
Incredible how the radical left has destroyed Britain. And we’re next.
It sounds like the same back@ss principle we have here in the USA, thanks to the demoncRat lawyers and leftists. If someone breaks into your house and you harm them, make sure you kill them (so they can’t sue you) and make sure it’s inside your house (drag them back in, if necessary).
The concept that one has to first stop and think about the consequences of defending one’s own home, family and belongings is asinine, but thanks to leftists, that’s what we’ve come to.
See, that happens when you are not allowed to have guns to protect yourself. A gun would have been a lot simpler.
I watched "Broken Trail" last night for the first time.
Tom Harte hung captain Fender without even missing a beat. Didn't seem all broke up over it either.
I haven’t seen that and don’t know the plot. But I’m sad to admit...I am fast approaching the attitude that I wouldn’t be all that broken up about a little justice being exacted in America, finally. Justice against our enemies within.
When you consider how many innocent lives have been lost due to liberal/leftist policies (especially re: crime and the leftist policy of letting criminals go with a slap on the wrist) over the past 60 years....
an awful lot of heads would have to roll for justice to be served, finally.
But then, maybe we’re supposed to leave that justice up to God. It’s like sitting back in a theatre and watching your own demise unfold, unable to do anything to stop it. Very hard to do.
You know what, if you try to do a home-invasion robbery on somebody’s house and fail, and you’re too stupid to run away, you probably deserve to be the victim of GBH with intent.
